At the time of this recording Steve Hogarth was around 50 years old. Currently he is 61 years old and his voice hasn't gone down all that much since which is to my opinion really amazing...
Last Sunday in Dublin, Steve opened his concert with this song. Absolutely stunning. What a voice, what a power and what an unbelievable talent. And then I a mot only talking about the concert but also specifically about this song. It was one of the many covers though, Heroes, Here comes The Flood and all were renditioned equally beautiful.
Saw H natural last night,he played everybody knows, another Leonard Cohen song, was hoping for this beauty but that was also great. He has an amazing voice that between his singing and Rothers guitars can make a grown man weep.
Its four in the morning, the end of december Im writing you now just to see if youre better New york is cold, but I like where Im living Theres music on clinton street all through the evening. I hear that youre building your little house deep in the desert Youre living for nothing now, I hope youre keeping some kind of record. Yes, and jane came by with a lock of your hair She said that you gave it to her That night that you planned to go clear Did you ever go clear? Ah, the last time we saw you you looked so much older Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder Youd been to the station to meet every train And you came home without lili marlene And you treated my woman to a flake of your life And when she came back she was nobodys wife. Well I see you there with the rose in your teeth One more thin gypsy thief Well I see janes awake -- She sends her regards. And what can I tell you my brother, my killer What can I possibly say? I guess that I miss you, I guess I forgive you Im glad you stood in my way. If you ever come by here, for jane or for me Your enemy is sleeping, and his woman is free. Yes, and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes I thought it was there for good so I never tried. And jane came by with a lock of your hair She said that you gave it to her That night that you planned to go clear -- sincerely, Steve H.
It is VERY difficult to play piano so beautifully AND sing so beatifully at the same time, especially in front of an audience. Steve Hogarth is an extremely talented man, one of my favorite singer/songwriters ever! Only thing I'm not crazy about in this video is the Mac computer at his side; I hate them, they don't let you do nearly as many things as Windows!
Last Sunday Steve was apologising for the logo :-) However, there should be reason why so many musicians use Apple (Steven Wilson, Peter Gabriel, to name a few) and do not divert from it and swear by it.
Steve Hogarth is a creative, lyricial genius with a voice of passion and power...
This man is a true legend! I was at this show and it was awesome. A really special night.
Beautiful. The Crow is the Nightingale.
One of the best covers ever... H did Leonard justice. RIP Leonard Cohen. Thank you H for this haunting performance...
Going to see the amazing Steve H on Saturday nite, such an overlooked talent to the mainstream masses. But hey so is his band...
Probably the best live show I have ever been to.
H at his very best.
Beautifully done by h. He's fantastic
Love the man! Absolute legend

The original lyrics are from Leonard Cohen, another great composer and singer. Great performance by Steve H
Saudades dói muito.
😪💚❤
Hermoso 😌 me recuerda al tema de Leo Sayer 😌🎹
Muito ansioso para ouvir essa voz ao vivo novamente no Brasil. De preferência sem Bolsonaro no poder.
Mio core amore dói dói
Am I alone in hearing Leo Sayer's "When I need you" here?
That's cool if it works for you....I respect that.
:)
Funny enough, I used a mac to upload this video.
