The feeling I get from Neir Automata's world is like a machine remaking things from memory. Like a world that exists without it's original context. I guess that fits in with the themes it explores. Great video!
A great observation, and I think the very first location, the factory, exemplifies that. At one point, you hear the PA system go off with voice messages, and 9S mentions that it’s just cycling through random data. But how much of that is actually random vs deliberate? It’s really telling that the game opens from there.
Great video essay, the visuals are indeed gorgeous, and then the OST is hauntingly atmospheric. My first exposure to Automata was actually the anime on CR last year, though I've had the OG Xbox 360 game sitting on my shelf for a decade. Now playing NA on steam- It's been amazing so far.
Thanks for this upload, it remembered me i’ve always wanted to play this game but never took the time for it, it’s time now Your channel has a great potential, i love the way it’s done ❤
videos like this help me become a better writer. Its more of a hobby of mine rather than me being a professional writer, but one day i want to write a story thats inspired by several works including nier automata. I think that to write a great story, you first need to think of an emotion that you wish your world to convey and the identity, and perhaps write from the end to the beginning by having the ending/endings already in mind, then going from there. I wish to one day make an indie game based on a story i create
the fact that NieR Automata sill gets analyzed ad infinitum to this day speaks highly of the artwork that Yoko Taro and team gave life to.

I've always been enamoured by the scenery in NieR Automata, it's so wistful and serene. Thank you for shining a light on it!

Thank you for the kind words! I hope you have a great time with the game! Once you get the first ending, keep playing. That’s just the beginning!
