This video is marvelous. It's interesting that Subaru's issues are almost a perfect inversion of Emilia's. Subaru remembers moments that nobody else does; Emilia can't remember what happened before she was frozen. Subaru lived a complex and messy life that he wanted to escape from; Emilia's life was basically perfect before it was taken from her, and afterwards she desperately wanted to get that back. They are incredibly different characters who are united in their feelings of isolation, and this video explains that perfectly.
@@tmlarkynado7604 Oh certainly! Emilia and Subaru's designs are almost complete inversions of each other. Watching Subaru be able to tell Echidna about his ability, as well as her surprise when he started breaking down, was one of the most emotional scenes of the show for me... even if she's dead (as of before the end of season 2), he's finally able to tell somebody exactly what he's gone through, and have them believe him completely. Really reminds me that he is truly alone
Bro really said in conclusion, Subaru is Jesus... So far in the anime he only killed himself on purpose two times, the cliff and the remmed broken sword. If anything, S3 demonstrates how he's adamant to NOT killing himself on purpose, seriously guy got some willpower of steel, everything is going to hell.
It’s a predicament that only exists in fiction, yet it’s a damn haunting one. Just like in ep 13 of the first season (I just realized they're equivalent episodes thats wild) where Emilia says she doesn't understand how she has saved subaru, Subaru says the same to Satella. re:zero referencing christianity while also going "well this is a whole lot of immature bullshit" is amazing tbh. I love that the message is about caring for others through self love, I think the show gets misrepresented a bit sometimes cause it's popular and the isekai genre is both overrepresented and has had a lot of "all style no substance" shows. And honestly while I was still only in season 1 I was enjoying it but as kind of a guilty pleasure, I knew something resonated but I couldn't really get why. Season 2 made me understand the show really had something to say and was doing it with purpose, the show is genuinely great.
"You don't even realize how the things you've done for me have saved me, over and over" Subaru "gave me light, showing me the outside world, holding my hand when I was lonely, and kissing me when I was all alone" Satella I absolutely love the way both of them phrase these things. We know what Subaru means when he talks about what Emilia did for him, but the way Satella explains her love is almost exactly in the same manner as Subaru's way of explaining. I love that Subaru are put into the exact same situation as Emilia is put into by Subaru. The witch's love makes absolutely no sense for him, but it is pretty clear that some kind of time travel shenanigans are going on between Satella and Subaru, but with Satella being the only one that remembers it.
Your wish at the end of characters wanting to see what Subaru experienced goes both ways. We see in season 2 that the timelines he died in still carry on. He would be seeing what happened in timelines he had an untimely end. Especially the suicides where he traumatized others.
Amazing video as usual,What happened to other video, Anny change of it coming back,i really REALLY liked that one, it was great video pinpointing why re zero feels unique and is kind of hard to understand.
Thanks so much! Unfortunately that video was removed and the whole channel was hit with a strike. It will definitely be re uploaded in the future after a bit of tweaking, just waiting until the strike expires to not risk it again.
The one thing i hate about subaru is that he and Stella are exactly same. They are doing everything in name love and wanting to other people to understand them which they never asked for
The difference is that Emilia is accepting of it and isn't terribly negatively affected by it when Subaru was literally brought to that world not by his own will, and given the power to return by death and remember every ounce of pain and struggle through the process of his progression. Sure they're both doing it to "save" certain people but Subaru is purely trying to keep them all alive and doesn't wish any harm upon them. They would've literally all died so many times if Subaru wasn't there so he sees it as he HAS to protect them. If you were about to be shot by a mugger and someone comes and saves you would you be angry and yell at them because you didn't ask them to? Bad argument
I really like the premise of watching him die again and again, I don't like how the characters are basically stagnant. As if they reset their memories every time they react. Really made the reading experience trash for me.
Because the entire world does reset when he dies? The perspective is from subarus choices and how the world interacts with them, not because of seeing characters memories until later on.
@Nothingtoseriousfr have you read whdaaa? 50% of the fanfiction is the anime, and another 50% the characters reacting. The characters reacting don't change their attitude or opinion of him one bit. I remember this quite well, priscilla reacting to something emphasised with subaru and then 10 lines later was humiliating him verbally again.
@@silasnebulous4533 they actually do. The only one is obviously Priscilla. Because she's not gonna change right away, plus reactonist makes it clear that she wants to be friends with subaru, but due to her past and upbringing, she cannot.
No, he only seems stupid in the viewers eyes because he goes beyond normal human compress. I mean, the decision to save someone you met seconds ago and dying to do so is something that is unrealistic, which is what makes subaru unique while still having humanly flaws.
By the way that mural in the church is in the sin archbishop's church that has been confirmed to exist somewhere in the re: zero world. (Confirmed by the author in a Q n A) Also Subaru is the the head of the church but I don't want to ruin season 3 for non web novel readers.
@@y9000-m9m so the sage Flugal (my have just misspelled his name) is said to be the head of the church and the witch cult there purpose was to protect the elves. This was mentioned in an Q n A by Tapi. In arc 6 the current sage Sharla is the daughter of Flugal and identified Subaru as her father and master as she has to obey her mother and father her masters.
@therealwildace2025 but they said the face of the sage on the coin doesn't look like anything and also shaula was created by witch of gluttony fluguel is her master but I don't think she refers to him as her father
Of course they wouldn't show Flugal's face yet they've been hiding it for some reason, they released tarot cards with re:Zreo characters and locations on them including Flugal from behind all we got to see was his black spiky hair like Subaru. Also If I remember correctly in the web novel Sharla tells Subaru that he is her father but he doesn't believe her and denies it because to him he couldn't possibly be her father. In arc 7 it's revealed Sattela is sealed inside of Subaru's soul when it's weaked and her shadows come out he can also control them though he was not in full control and destroyed a city. The only way the witch could be sealed inside of Subaru is if he was around 400 years ago as Flugal. And I know Sharla was made with Gluttony's Authority with Flugal's influence somehow(has not been revealed how yet) so not really a by blood daughter.

And honestly while I was still only in season 1 I was enjoying it but as kind of a guilty pleasure, I knew something resonated but I couldn't really get why. Season 2 made me understand the show really had something to say and was doing it with purpose, the show is genuinely great.
"You don't even realize how the things you've done for me have saved me, over and over" Subaru
"gave me light, showing me the outside world, holding my hand when I was lonely, and kissing me when I was all alone" Satella
I absolutely love the way both of them phrase these things.
Wasn’t expecting “Subaru is Jesus Christ” at the end
Nice video btw
@@thescreentakes Thanks for your efforts,Hoping no more strikes
Excited for what the direction of the story go in season 3
This video gives me chills.
I think you completely misunderstanding
Great video man
Sad that the previous video is down
It’s finally back up now that the strike on the channel expired
Excellent video essay! Thank you. New Sub.
Goes to show how much it means to him when he told it all to Echidna
Amazing video! The Season three trailer should be out in five days will you be making a video on it?
Depending on what they show off, I’d definitely be up for making a video about it!
that lost in memories what if is crazy
and i just found ouut the game never got big and was termined last year
another banger video btw W
Loved the intro ❤ hope ur channel gets more recognition
man, good video ❤
Great video can't understand I first see it now good job
Subaru is new Gen Okabe Rintarou
Subaru isn’t even new gen lmao, and Subaru is written way better, don’t ever compare him to Okabe
God I love Re:Zero
NOOOOOOOOOO. Where is your previous Re Zero video?
It was removed for copyright, but video is now back up on the channel!
Its almpst like life is too complicate to have pure bad amd good guys.
Its all shades of grey
Damn i turn the same age as Subaru today 😂
Bro yk in one episode they show the contunie of the universes subaru died ti him.
Is there anywhere i can download lost in memories game witg an english download. I found downloads but they are all in a language that isnt english
@Nothingtoseriousfr have you read whdaaa?
@@Nothingtoseriousfr brother, I didn't read all of it, I read till like episode 10. I wanted to kms
I can't believe they deleted your Re:zero metamodernism video. Is there reupload somewhere
The strike finally expired and it’s now back up in the channel!
I personally think Subaru is a stupid character and he's ridden to be that way. But I can agree that this is a good video.
No, he only seems stupid in the viewers eyes because he goes beyond normal human compress. I mean, the decision to save someone you met seconds ago and dying to do so is something that is unrealistic, which is what makes subaru unique while still having humanly flaws.
Wait...
Who's Rem?
sweet!
By the way that mural in the church is in the sin archbishop's church that has been confirmed to exist somewhere in the re: zero world. (Confirmed by the author in a Q n A)
Also Subaru is the the head of the church but I don't want to ruin season 3 for non web novel readers.
Where was it said he is the head of the church(I don't mind spoilers)
@@therealwildace2025 satella isn't sealed inside him more like she lives in him rent free since she is the one who summoned him and gave him RBD
If we just would get those seasons faster. Its a shame how slow it goes, but I guess every realse speed is better then No Game no Life
Nice
17 year old with 20 years of experience thats what every employer wants.😂
Its a joke.
hi
The Voice sounds so monotone like a boring AI voice..
I’ll try to be more emotive in the future. Thanks for the criticism
That's kinda mean
@@thescreentakes for me, its honestly relaxing and this is the first time I watched a video that mentioned WHDAA and your analysis about Subaru's burden is really good
