Mark Nightingale is a BEAST!! Don't get me wrong, Jiggs and company are great too, but Mark has some really great ideas! I met Jiggs at the 1981 ITA Workshop in Nashville. What a phenomenal educator and player!
Almost un-beeeeeeeeeeeeeee-lievable!!!!!!! Wish I could have been there. Reminds me of the Tutti's Trombones album from the 1960's with Frank Rosolino and company. I feel sorry for the guy with the mop after the show.
After listening to this I almost went out an sold my very old Selmer trombone, been my good friend since 1951, but no I'll keep sliding, brilliant stuff, great sound, powerful unison playing, thankyou RUclips.
@@garyhammond5267 No critisism of the others intended. I admire them all. Personally i prefer Bart on slower tracks Tommy Dorsey style, but I still don't get how anyone can play that instrument the way these guys do, and I've been listening since I discovered Jack Teagarden and Sy Zentner in 1950.
Absolutely amazing. Loved each solo -great playing but not overdone and what ensemble work. Interestingly recorded in Rotterdam. I'd like to know if there are any American players in there or all European. I also love WDR Big Band (Germany) and Orchestra Metreoplol (Netherlands) -also big band playing at its best and not too much high screaming trumpets like the Yanks (which drives me nuts)
Message to videographers: Shots framed like the one at 3:32 or 3:48 are the ones you should have more of, because it shows what the trombonist is doing with his slide and you can see his embouchure. Shots of the background choir resting or pulling their horns up and shots that are so close up that you can barely see the player's whole face are of much less interest.
In memory of Frank Rosolino: Lier and Whigham do him tribute with every note. Beautiful playing. Nightingale is just as amazing but not in the first tune. Wogram is also up there with the other three, but not what I personally get a charge from hearing.

NOW IN 2021 SHOW THIS TO EVERY TROMBONE PLAYER AND STUDENT IN THE U. S. , THIS SHOULD ENCOURAGE ALL TROMBONISTS TO PICK UP THEIR HORNS AND PLAY AGAIN.
trombone=best instrument

thats the most perfect sync ive heard with trombones so far in my lifetime
Every one of them is spectacular, but HOLY SHIT Bart's tone is so mellow it hurts.
exactly. and his range is bananas!!!
The second trombone soloist sounds great, Kicked ass!!
It's sad more people would like to see nicki minaj. Culture is in the shitter, revive real music.
@@blandeauxfillaskii7344 I agree
@@blandeauxfillaskii7344 Amen!
The bass trombonisr who is attempting to shatter his bell is my favorite. Keep it on blasting bro!
The guy at the end is playing a contrabass trombone, I believe.
Sure made it known there was Bass there
The interplay and logic of the solos and the overall tightness of this group tells a complete "story" from beginning to end !
9:22 double A
Monster Bass trombone playing!

Trombone heaven!
What a great sound!
Oh my god, Bart really laying it down!!
Please...This Nils... Can I be like him?
That solo of Mark's though, it's just so soulful, make me cry.
Refreshing! WHAT a great feast of bones!!!
Beautiful! Legendary trombones players.
LOVE Mark's solo....

phenomenal sound from all four!!!
Terrific unison playing, surely a contender to the famous TUTTI's Trombones.

sick man
Great music should inspire you.
Unless you want to pass that old horn on to someone who will take the music forward.
Bart van Lier, go go for it. Great 👍🏻
Great stuff, reminiscent of Stan Kenton's Big Band sound of 1950's.
Magníficos trombonistas! Maravilha, congratulation!
dit moet we vaker zien en horen !!!!!!!!!!!
God Bless All of You and thank you. Pure Trombones!!!
Amazing Playing! Incredible Soloists! Nice to see so many of my durch friends on stage.
...and Nils nails them! :-D
I love playing trombone because it's such a visual instrument. All those slides moving. Cool.
It is - even in orchestral excerpts, they love to show the slush pumps!
So many awesome t-bone players and not enough work.
MUITO BOA ORQUESTRA. TROMBONISTAS EXCELENTES. PARABÉNS..
Good job guys! Super cool stuff there!
Make no Bones about it this is Kick-Ass stuff ! Love it !
They don't wank like many other jazz musicians of our times but make music. Great!
Great arrangement to feature this wonderful instrument! I would've loved to have been there!
Nils Wogram, real monster player...
Just found this and I second that. You could see Mark Nightingale enjoying the solo and I think Frank Rosolino would have been proud of that as well.
@@loujug1 Yes but Bart was smoother and exhibited greater range. They all are awesome

Actually, all players in the trombone choir are from the Netherlands, both classical as well as many jazz players. All are equally amazing!
ETA FERAS DO TROMBONE!!! MUITO BOM!!! PARABENS A TODOS..

How do you see an embouchure?

There's a great video of Carol Jarvis playing "I think of you" with some great shots of her embouchure and slide work.
Sounds great and just SO cool!
