I won’t watch it unless it’s English dub nothing against Japanese I like anime but I couldn’t see watching a anime any other way long long time ago they weren’t that good like 80s early 90s but not now days I have watched both parts dub and subs on some just to see if it was any different to see if the wordings are different and it’s not they don’t take away anything
Yeah i watched season4 of AOT as it dropped in sub and then watched it few weeks later in dub when it dropped, and it's incredible the way they reword things to match up to the lips without changing what they are saying
It depends, there are not that many dub actors who can nail the context in their voices. In sub you can feel the emotion in a different language even though you can't immediately understand it. It adds another layer and alot of modern dubbed anime for me comes off as a bit cringy in alot of scenes compared to japonese subbed. To each their own. DBZ, Naruto, Cowboy Bebop get a free pass from me because it's mostly nostalgia. I can go on how awesome Allmight sounds in dub but the rest of the characters in My Hero sound so cringy cliche in dub for example. There are good dubs out there but I've gotten so use to reading subtitles that I just prefer it that way. Emotion, context and intensity can greatly change in a different language through translation. Watching anime in sub is just more genuine to what the manga writers wants us to feel is all I'm saying.

Why is it that the protagonist of every anime has to have some weirdly high pitch sounding voice that doesn’t suit their character at all, I mean English dubs for example, Eren for example has the exact same voice in the English version no matter how old he is, atleast the original tries to tone it differently to match Erens ages and maturity
for me the bad dubs are just that bad. why because it’s nigh impossible for a sub to sound bad especially with a dub that could fall short, but oh boy when the dub sounds decent enough especially if the voice actually matches the character well it then becomes simply If i want to read or listen like Spyxfamily. but there are voices that just don’t match at all with Characters like eren Yeagers VA. hearing that voice come from inosuke didn’t sound right to me like it definitely matched with HOW inosuke TALKS but after hearing Sub inosuke Didn’t match at all with how i Imagined he sounded i think a better way to describe how i imagined inosuke is through Gyoubo masataka Oniwa in Japanese and then in English. It’s basically up to the English sound guys to get close to how the characters SOUNDED from Japanese and then Figure out a good way to make them TALK for good line deliveries
