I sew and knit, and the main difference to me between both: knitting, you actually knit 90% of the time (the remaining 10% is blocking and weaving ends 😅), whereas sewing is 10% of actual sewing behind the machine, the remaining 90% is prewashing the fabric/ironing before cutting/cutting/pinning/ironing another thousand times. "Sewing" is a scam 😂😂 But still love it.
Keep the sewing coming- the good, the bad and the ugly. I do both as well. My biggest frustration with sewing is the machine. When it works, it’s great, but when it doesn’t, I get extremely frustrated.
Yes to a knit and chat! Some questions: Podcast: who came up with the idea of doing a podcast? Knitting: What’s your favourite item to knit? What yarn do you wish you could always knit with? What have you made that you were super excited about and yet don’t use it wear that much? Personal: what is your craziest twin story? How did you meet your husbands? Have you always lived close to each other? I love that you included your sewing. I learned to knit and sew as a kid but always reach for my knitting first as it takes so much less set up than sewing does! Oh and I was knitting on an instant crush to use up some mohair I had in stash- wish I’d read the comments from your last episode! Lol
For the puckering solution for your dress, sometimes it's the nature of the fabric. You can pair it with a heavier fusing if you want or maybe using the self fabric for inside can help as it is more rigid. If you want to correct it you will need to open the top of your dress...The more you sew the more you learn! For next time you can also make a swatch with fusing and see how it will react. You can starch it but each time you will wash it the starch will come off. Love your channel btw! :)
Thank you for this advice! It's definitely one of those crafts where you learn as you go and this is something I'll have to be mindful of for next time! I love the idea of a swatch! It's something I consider so important for knitting, but I forget I should do it when sewing too!
Every time I watch your latest video I’m so inspired by your FO’s that I add them to my Ravelry list 🤪 The colours you both choose are so beautiful 😍 . Keep being amazing 🤩
I love all of the sweaters that both of you have knit and I think I'll knit the haraboji cardigan too. It's such a beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing 😊💕
I’m from KC too and currently live in Olathe. My aunt was close friends with the women who died. They went to high school together. The whole situation is so incredibly heartbreaking. I can’t imagine what their family must be going through. My heart aches for them. We almost went to the parade and took our children but last minute decided to stay home. It’s crazy to think that it could have been us just as easily. 💔 I’m glad to see that you two are safe. Sending love to you both!
We are so sorry for your family’s loss. It’s heartbreaking that we live in a world where celebrations can become so dangerous. We’re glad you and your children were safe!
I knit and sew too. The sleeveless dress with the sweater was perfect~ all you need is a gauzy scarf❤. I really enjoy knit and chats. I would love to hear more about your day to day, your favorite things to do, books etc, your cats. Great podcast! One of my favorites.
A topic for your knit and chat: patterns you've enjoyed knitting that are less well known; your favourite yarn to pattern matches. I'm always looking for that kind of info from other knitters. There's so much choice out there its nice to have recommendations. Lovely episode, thank you
You guys! Every podcast I end up adding so many of your FO's and WIPs to my queue. Such beautiful choices and the yarn choice is always spot on! Thanks for another great video.
Both of the sweaters you're wearing are gorgeous! 😍 I love when I open RUclips and your guys' new videos are the first thing to pop up. 😁 Yes yes yes to knit and chat! That would be fun! Question ideas: - Top three all time favorite knits you've each done. - Favorite yarn for cables/texture - Best ways/patterns for using scrap yarn
Also, I love the sewing projects! I personally don't know a ton of sewers like I do knitters, so I LOVED that you shared sewing stuff. Genuinely so helpful. I told Jessica on instagram I'd make the clara dress now because of hers, and now Rachel makes me want to make the bubble frock too! Oh nooooo. 🤣 I'm buried in projects to start/finish!
Thank you for the questions!! 🤗 haha the list of things to make always gets longer, but never shorter! Hope you end up loving the Clara dress as much as Jess did!
Hi ladies! Your sewing and knitting are so lovely! I would love to see more of your sewing as I’ve recently started garment sewing as well. Would also love for you guys to do a knit and chat!
I loved that you included the sewing FOs! I know you said you’ll only include the ones you like bjt I would love to hear about the ones you’re not too happy with (and why). I recently started sewing and would love the inspiration as your aesthetic is so beautiful x
Thank you so much! That’s good you’d be interested in anything we end up not loving. We just kind of assumed people wouldn’t want to see those! We appreciate the feedback! ☺️
Another fun podcast. You girls are amazing ! Such elegance you both possess and it's lovely to see : ) Very nice sewing projects as well. It's inspiring to see that too
Such an inspiring episode, I love watching your podcast!🥰 And yes to the Knit and Chat! I'd love to know if you still have patterns that intimidate you even with the amount of experience you have and if you have any dream projects🤗
Hi, very inspiring..thank you 😍 Currently I am working on the Spot Sweater by Anne Ventzel..The beginning was not easy for me, but now..knitting blind while watching your podcast 👍
i love you two! I go and put all the things you knit in my Ravelry favorites! There in no way I can ever knit everything I want to make but you two inspire me to try! I love the addition of the thing you sew as well!
I am making the Haraboji Cardigan too and my crosses worked out the same...in that one side looks neater than the other side. Hoping it blocks out as well, but what a fun and inventive pattern it was to knit! Will definitely look to make more of their patterns.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who experienced cable tension issues with this pattern! Thankfully it’ll be hard to see the front and the back cables at the same time 😅
I saw this sweater knit up at the LYS & it wasn’t blocked as aggressively. I think yours looks much better. Otherwise it is somewhat "bumpy" where the cables meet the lace sections.
Yes!! I don’t think I talked about it much this time but I mentioned in the last podcast that I had to block it 3 times before I was happy with it. The sides looked wavy the first time I blocked it and it took some work to get that fixed 😅
I also live in the Kansas City area and 2 of my kids were at the parade. They weren't harmed, but we are all just devastated for the families that weren't as lucky.
Lovely that you include sewing as well. I hope to sew my first garment this year (wish me luck 😂). Get som muck inspiration from your podcast 🙏. Knit and Chat will be fun! So my questions are: What are your most worn knitted garment? What knitted garment are you most proud of? And it is always nice to know a bit more of the podcasters background - so I am curious what you do for a living? Take care Malca from Sweden
Great podcast as usual! I am always inspired by your makes, and would like to know more about your work ethic. I tend to get distracted and cast on when I should finish, and I'd like to hear you talk about what helps you finish and if you set up self-imposed deadlines, schedule in your knitting, etc. Thanks!
I too get distracted, and yearn to start another project. I'd like the answer how to solve the problem. Its like I have to move on and learn something else.
Love, love all the knitting AND sewing. You two are such talented women! I personally would love to see your sewing projects as well. My question for the knit and chat (if you do it) is: Do you each devote knitting time per day or on a time-needed basis? You both knit so fast and just wondering how much time a day you spend knitting.
Absolutely love your videos and would be happy to watch other any non-traditional podcast videos you decide to make! If you do a knit and chat, I’d be really interested to learn more about you both if you’re willing to share online

Lawrence is such a fun town! We absolutely love the Yarn Barn and Sarah’s Fabrics, although it’s been a while since we’ve been able to visit. Your trip sounds like such a good way to spend an anniversary weekend! The news of the parade was heartbreaking. It’s sad we live in a world where people can’t be safe celebrating something that meant so much for the city. Glad you and your husband were safe!
I am a knitter and a sewer and love to watch you two interact. I also keep wondering where you got that lovely wicker lampshade! I have an antique desk lamp that needs a shade that is low and wide in diameter and can’t find one!
I love seeing sewing projects! I just finished an estuary skirt. I made a size too big on accident and so mine ended up extra gathered. 😅 Are you guys coming to coast to coast’s grand opening next month?
We would love to!! Unfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s going to work out with our schedules, so we probably won’t be able to and will have to live vicariously through the Instagram posts of those who can attend! 😅
Hi Sweetys ❤I think you’re awesome! Love the content. Love the things you make. Sit and knit is a fabulous idea I think. I can’t sow but got so inspired by you that I really wanna learn next! Rachel, the Nord sweater is soo pretty! I’m thinking of doing it as my next project, for the Cumbria yarn held with tynn silk mohair for the main color, did you use Cumbria Blencathra?

We are very much the same! I think sewing has been inspiring to us recently but it’s not going to happen every time. Knitting is always #1 🤗 Ohh that might be it!! It is so fuzzy for a mohair so now I’m going to look that up!!

YES 😂 and this is why sewing is exhausting while knitting is relaxing 😅
You forgot seam-ripping (or maybe that’s just me 😅)
@@alecsgirl ahah yeah I think I prefer to not mention it and forget about it 😂
I love the speed I can sew a dress, but I love the fact my knitting can go out with me.

I am a long time sewist and just recently picked up knitting. I love to see both things in the podcast 😊

The baby sweater is absolutely adorable and the sideways cardigan is incredible. As to the wrinkles on the bust of the dress, it looks like the bodice is in 2 pieces (upper and lower). If I’m seeing that correctly, you eased too much of the upper bodice into the bottom bodice at the center front in the bust curvature area. If it’s meant to be eased, it should be spread out more rather than concentrated at center front. If it isn’t meant to be eased, you’ve just misaligned your edges (or notches). To be honest though, I didn’t notice it until you mentioned it -- and I sew a lot.

Please stand up & show the fit of the sweaters. It would help SO much in deciding if it is a pattern I’d like to try…
You are tempting me to try making socks. Now do you block yours on one of those sock forms? They look very uniform in size and beautiful.
We block our socks flat, but we don’t use sock blockers. We may have to try soon, though, cause a lot of people have good luck with them!
