I really enjoy that you speak about pros and cons of projects. I often miss the cons in other knitting content. This helps to make an informed decision about the next knit.
I love that you guys added pictures of you wearing the garments! I always love seeing how people wear their handmade knits. I usually just wear jeans but now I’m inspired to wear linen pants and skirts. Can’t wait for your next video 😊
I really recommend split splicing to join ends of wool. It made my knittinglife so much easier. I use a sharp needle to unwind the yarn and thin it out a bit, then form an V on both ends and slide those into each other, wet it and rub it between my hands to felt it a bit. This builds a strong connection and it’s invisible.
You’ve both knit so many gorgeous projects in 2023! Can’t wait to see what you knit in ‘24. Altso I find that you both are so maticulous, and get such good finishes on your garments. Really inspires me to be neater this year.
Thank you so much! It’s definitely taken us a long time to appreciate the finer details of knitting projects, but now they bring us a lot of joy! Hope you have a wonderful New Year!
That was sweet of you to let us know that there weren't any competition between the two of you, but really, that wasn't necessary! It really shows both how different your personalities are but also how respectful and supportive you are with each other. Honestly, the energy between you two is another reason why I love your podcast videos (along with your great knitting, obviously). Thank you for such a lovely 2023 garment round up!
Have to agree- sure you would be fine alone but the back and forth with each project, helps make it more interesting and love to hear you both. Happy New Year and I am amazed at how much you both knit and how talented you are - an inspiration!!👏🏻
Thank you so much! We appreciate the feedback as we were a bit torn on this one, but glad we stuck with what was comfortable! Have a wonderful New Year!!
You girls are amazing knitters and I thoroughly enjoyed your review! I particularly like that you use yarns that I haven’t tried and give a great review of the patterns pros and cons. Jessica I love your kitties!
Love it when more than one person does a RUclips knitting video. SO many lovely sweaters! And I love the honesty when a sweater has fit issues or too low, etc. Can save me so much time!
I love that you mentioned--because there are the two of you--that it is not a competition for who knit more or less or better or worse, etc. (remember I have twins). Great twin spirit! You support each other so wonderfully.
I love all your knits even the ones you don’t like. Love the backless one and I think it looks gorgeous on in the pic. So elegant! Thanks for showcasing your work!
I'm not naturally drawn to neutrals, but your knits are always SO beautiful! It's inspired me to make something in a chocolate brown in 2024! Can't wait to see what the next years projects bring!
Just found your channel last night and loved this video! I originally learned to knit when I was really young, but I'm just picking it back up as an adult now and getting into the kniting community online! I'm about to make my first sweater project, and this video just introduced me to so many other lovely patterns and yarns to try! Thanks ladies!
So fun to watch your video. Especially enjoy hearing your comments on each of your knits…what you liked, what you didn’t and why! It’s always great to hear about them after you’ve had some time spent with them to see if you are really enjoying them or not. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing what you create in 2024! 🎉
God this episode was so good I watched it twice. Super impressed and inspired by both of your makes. Looking forward to seeing what the next year brings for you. :)
You both knit beautifully!! When I saw your Margaux top, I just had to put it in my Ravelry queue - a project for this coming Spring. Thank you for providing all the details - your videos are such a pleasure to watch: inspiring and helpful. Love seeing the pics of your kitties, Jessica! I have 4 cats so I wear cat hair too! 😄
I am sooo in love with your projects and all the colours that you chose! 😍 I still can not believe that you guys knitted all those projects in one year - that's amazing 😱😍✨
This was such a great video that I had to watch it twice! I love both of your styles and colour choices, very inspiring to a new knitter! Thank you for all of the work you put into making these videos, your podcast has quickly become my favourite to watch while knitting :)
beautiful I'm obsessed with all of the project you both have made so much inso thanks for including yarn info looking forward to more content from this channel thank you for sharing🥰
1:13:55 you could knit a lace panel into the back of the top so skin would be shown/ the pattern concept would been intact but hide the uneven spine. I don‘t think that an illness should keep us from wearing stuff we like but I know it‘s hard to overcome unsecureties (especially as a female read person).
Tack för en mysig och jordnära podd. Grattis till 1 år. Stickar mycket i Rauma finull, mitt mest använda garn. Har också garn från Selbu spinneri, ett fantastiskt garn.
You both have so many gorgeous knits. I qued a lot of them in my 2024 knitlist on Ravelry. So I will have to see if its possible to match the patterns to some of my yarn stash. Very inspiring, thank you
Loved this podcast! So many beautiful knits and great information about each piece. I have added new patterns, designers and yarn to my queue for 2024. Thank you! 💕
I love all your sweaters! You guys both have such a good eye for color. I’m also on a mission to knit a sweater out of KFO now because of all your projects using it lol. Also, Brooklyn tweed loft is a woolen spun yarn which means it has a lot more air in it and the fibers are going in different directions when spun where as a worsted spun yarn is smooth, more dense and all the fibers are parallel when spun. I learned this when i started spinning and it has helped me understand yarn so much more! Woolen spun is lighter weight, blooms more and is warmer but worsted spun has more drape and a smoother texture and had more yards per pound(grist).
Ahh that is the word we were looking for! Neither of us are spinners but admire spinners so much! This is so helpful! 💛 We do love Brooklyn Tweed yarns a lot! Knitting for Olive has so many colors, it’s impressive! You’ll have to update us if you like it! 😊
Such a great line-up of finished garments! I also knit a Rota jumper in 2023 and I can't wait for spring so I can wear it again. I don't think you showed a photo of Jessica wearing hers in previous episodes so it's nice to see it turned out so well 🙂 A lot of the summer knits that you both showed were on my list last year but didn't get around to making them, so hopefully 2024 will be the year for them! Thanks for the video and inspiration!
Fun fact: the airy quality in Brooklyn Tweed yarn that you mentioned is because it's "woolen spun" rather than "worsted spun" (not related to worsted weight). Basically, it means that the fibers were all jumbled up and going in different directions when they were spun instead of being combined to lie in the direction of the yarn. This creates the airiness you described, which makes the yarn warmer and less dense than woolen spun yarns.
I love every one of your guys' videos ever since the first one! I watch them all even though I may not always get around to leaving a comment. Your work is beautiful and I can't wait to see what patterns and beautiful pieces are in our 2024 future. Happy New Year to you both! 🥰
Very glad I came across your podcast, you both are so good at explaining your knitwear. Your knits are beautiful and meticulous, can't wait to see what you knit in 2024. Happy New Year!
To secure a hanging flap. Try to crochet or knit a string at the corner of the flap and also a string inside the opposite side seam about 2 inches from the bottom of the garment to tie in a bow.
Ohh that’s a good idea! A couple of people also pointed out to me that the pattern calls for a snap and I somehow missed that, so I’ll definitely be adding something to secure the flap! 😅
this podcast is my favorite one now :) you guys are so inspirational! I'm planning to knit several of the same sweaters now! where do you shop for your high waisted jeans?
Love your yearend round-up podcast! Your knits are so beautiful. I've knit the Champagne Cardi, and since then, have loved double-knit banding. I really like the summer top I knit this year-- the Slanting Slip-on by Anne Ventzel. I used KFO Pure Silk in Cream. I haven't knit much lace or many summer tops, but this spring, I'll try Sari Nordlund's Rosenlund Top in Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Line.
Both of those patterns are so beautiful! I don’t think either of us have tried an Anne Ventzel pattern yet, but we have lots saved on ravelry, so hopefully we get around to doing one soon! Happy knitting!
It’s great to watch your podcast, as I get inspiration on projects to start. I saw the Pi camisole on one of the earlier episodes and was immediately inspired to start it. Then I saw the Mey camisole on the designer’s IG and knitted that instead. I wouldn’t have found one of my favorite camisoles if it weren’t for your podcast, so thank you! And 58:03 🐈🐈❤
I was so inspired when you showed the festive yoke sweater in a episode in november so I bought some yarn and now I have knitted one also, as a december knit. I used Rauma finull yarn, but similar colors as you. I like the Pi camisole pattern, I have to knit one in 2024. But now I'm knitting a Kuutar Wrap by Sari Nordlund. Thank you for the episode, it was fun to see everything. 😄
Ahh the Kuutar Wrap is so beautiful!! We might also have some Sari Nordlund designs on the needles at the moment 🤗 I haven’t tried Rauma yarns yet but I’ve been seeing them a lot recently and am so curious about them! Hopefully something I’ll get to try in the new year! 💛
I believe it was episode five where Rachel stated that the Stripe Hype Sweater would be good to knit as your first sweater, so that is what I'm planning on doing!
Beautiful bounty of knitting from you ladies. I took note and put a few of the patterns into my favorites on Ravelry. I saw a sweater at the thrift store recently and it inspired me to try a bit of yarn embroidery this coming year. I looove the look of yarn embroidery on a neutral colored, basic pattern in stockinette. The Cumulus Tee or Miles Tee are looking like good candidates (maybe not - idk, haha) for my first venture. I’m thinking it’ll be an excellent way to use up some small bits of scrap yarn too. P.S. I bet you all are more aware of your back curvature than anyone else would ever notice. That back bow top was adorable in the worn pic!!!
Thank you so much!! Yarn embroidery is so beautiful! I don’t think either of us has ever been brave enough to try it so let us know how it goes for you! That’s true! I feel like everyone is always more self aware of themselves and that sort of thing than those around them. We appreciate the perspective ☺️🤍
Absolutely lovely video! I loved watching the breakdown of all the garments you two made this year!! I've added a bunch to my never-ending Ravelry queue 😅💛✨
Oh my! I love both of your aesthetics! Gorgeous makes - I am jealous of the Levitate wrap, but I don’t think I’m up to all the double knitting - love your channel! Happy New Year!
This was such a great video! I've only reacently discovered your channel so it was so nice to see everything you've knit so far, I loved all of them! I'm not sure if i'm just not understanding correctly what you were saying when you were expaining how you catch floats, but there's a way of catching them without actually having to pick the balls of yarn and move them about! I'm not sure how to explain it but i'm sure there's lots of video tutorials that would show you!! 🥰
Ohh we have to find this! I would say because we’re English knitters, colorwork has always been a bit tedious so anything to make it easier would be so helpful out there! 😊💛
I didn't even think about the fact that the technique uses to two hands, oops!🙈 I'm an english style knitter too and when I first strated doing colourwork I was picking up and twisting the yarn too but It got really tedious for me so I taught myself how to hold the second strand in my left hand so I could easily catch the floats and not have to let go of the yarn! It does take a lot of getting used to though, i'm definitely an english style knitter at heart 😂@@thosetwinswhoknit
Beautiful projects and you are both so technically excellent. My favourite knit this year was the Achikochi pullover, in Biches and Buches petite lambs wool.
The two favored for me is the porcelain sweater Margaux Top.. I’m really considering knitting these two pattern. I really love the sample that you showed. Even though I don’t have a job and I am full-time mom, but I think you are knitting a lot 😂.
This is 7 months late, but your lovely Levitate wrap cardi looks so cosy. You can tether the inside front flap with ribbon (ribbon let’s you adjust it where a snap or button won’t, and can be completely invisible.) You sew a length of narrow 1/4 inch narrow ribbon to the corner edge of the inside front flap, and a corresponding ribbon length to the other side under the arm where a seam would be it it had been seam, at a height the the same as your inside front flap hits. Easiest way is to turn your sweater inside out to mark where ribbons go. Think of a ballet wrap top. Ties at the inside and the outside. Hope you see this so you can really love your sweater!
Absolutely love the No 5 Kelly Sweater with slit. Hope I can find the pattern. All you sweaters, cardigans and summer shirts are beautiful. Thank you for a very enabling video. Just found you because I just got back into knitting
Thank you so much!! The No. 5 Kelly Sweater is a Sandnes Garn pattern, so I believe it can only be purchased through yarn stores that carry their yarn and books. I believe I purchased mine from True North Yarn in Canada.
Another very enjoyable and inspiring video. Your knitting projects are soo beautiful. I enjoy the honesty you provide about the yarns and designs- good and not so wonderful. 😊. Do you find if a garment pills a lot initially, after some wear and depilling with a Gleaner the pulling stops? I’ve never heard anyone say. Thanks for sharing your time and knitting with us.
That is a good question! I’ve only had one other garment I would say pilled really significantly and it was a single ply yarn, but I don’t know that it ever stopped pilling. 😅 it eventually got holes, I think from how loose the fibers from only one ply was, and I had to get rid of it. The rest was too felted to try to save the yarn even. I love the look of one ply yarn so much but I just can’t do it because of it 😅
Loving projects! I really enjoyed this series and revisiting what you both knit in 2023. I'll be adding some of these items to my list for 2024. Curious for the Cumulus Tee, you mentioned you used the KFO pure silk, did you have to use two strands? Thanks!
Thank you so much! 💛 I actually only held the yarn single for this one! I looked back at my ravelry notes and I made a note that I went up a needle size, but the pattern calls for US 2.5 and I don’t own 3.5 needles so I must have only used a US 3 for this one. The stockinette makes it pretty simple so it can go fast though. :) although sometimes if it’s so simple like that I lose interest so it’s a bit of a tricky one 😅
Love your podcast! Just wanted to say that in the Levitate Wrap pattern, there are suggestions for snaps to secure what you called the 'inner flap'! I did that on mine and it makes it look much neater (when worn and folded!). Love from The Netherlands!
Thank you for your lovely video❤️. I really want to knit the ribbed raglan pullover, but worry that the neck would not hold up well. What is your experience with that? Would love to hear. Thanks for all the inspiration! 🥰
The neck on the pattern is pretty tight fitting, so I was actually okay with it stretching a little! It really hasn’t stretched a lot though. :) I think my biggest advice would be to pick a yarn you don’t find stretchy because it does sit so close to the neck!
If you are interested in trying to keep the Another Summer Open Back Top in your wardrobe, I think it would look really cute over an A-line dress! Then you're still covered and it wouldn't accentuate scoliosis, and the crop looks like it would hit around the hem line of a dress. Just a thought if you wanted to find a way to keep it as a usable piece.
Love your channel so much ❤ so excited when your videos come out. Just curious, What needles do you guys use? I see them peeking into the videos sometimes lol
Thank you so much! 💛 Our favorite brand is the ChiaGoo metal needles, so anytime we can, we use those, but if we have others available we'll usually use whatever is on hand. 😊
Wow! Impressive! 🎊 🎉Happy New year to you both! I might have mentioned a designer I am going to knit a vest from is soop knits, she has several designs I like. Happy knitting in 2024
Really enjoying your podcast. I also knit a sweater using Woolfolk Far this year and found it bunny soft and light. I find myself reaching for that sweater, my Oksa, again and again, even though it pills like crazy. At any rate, would highly recommend your knitting Oksa, by Boylan’s Knitworks, if you haven’t already. Such a beautiful pattern.
Oop I must have completely missed that step, but now that I know that’s an option I will be going back and adding that. 🤦🏼♀️ thank you for the advice!
By the way - I don't know about others but I would love to hear more about the makes that you gifted for kids. I know you wouldn't have the finished object to show but I just had a baby and am looking for good pattern ideas and the types of yarn you used for such projects.
Aww congrats on your new baby!! To be honest, we have no idea if the baby knits we’ve done are practical or not since we don’t have children, we just appreciate how cute baby knits are! 😅
Your garments are beautiful. I made several of those garments too, and i'm not a bif fan of the camisole no 5 , very not practical to wear. Can't wait to see what you will make in 2024
I have to agree, I’m glad I tried the pattern because I loved the look so much but most likely won’t ever go back to knit another. It doesn’t get the amount of use that would make it worth the time 😅
Unfortunately the only way I know how to purchase it is as part of a booklet from a yarn store that carries Sandnes Garn. I ordered mine through True North Yarn Co.
Just curious: How do you get to wear so many different pullover/cardigans? And there are probably more from years previous? Just in comparison: I wear a regular (storebought) pullover over a T-shirt for about a week before I wash it. Which means I cycle through my favorite maybe 3 Pullovers in the cold season a couple times. By now I do have some knitted Pullovers (one too warm for regular use, and another I really do love,...) but I do have troubles to understand how every pullover you made gets the attention it well decerves (because they truly are gorgeous as previous comments say as well). And I'm not yet going into the discussion that wool is selfcleaning and could (theoretically) be worn longer before needing a wash... But I genually wonder do you change your Pullovers dayly or how do you do this? I know maybe a weird question to ask... and if you feel it's too personal please ignore ... I'm just trying to figure this out for quite some time now... - It also might be a culturally thing - things being common in one place and different in another...
Hi! Thanks for the question! To be honest, not all our sweaters get all the attention they probably deserve. We love to knit and we love to make sweaters, so a good part of our enjoyment is just the process of knitting itself. We definitely tend to have some favorites that we reach for often, and some sweaters sometimes go a long time in between wears. If we find we truly aren’t wearing something, we’ll usually give it to each other to see if it’ll get more use, but if neither of us think we’ll continue to get use out of a sweater we’ll frog or donate it!
Also, I forgot to add this, but we tend to go a very long time between washes! To non knitters, it may seem kind of gross, but we usually wear an undershirt to help, and as you mentioned, wool and other natural protein based fibers tend to not hold onto smells, so thankfully it hasn’t been much of an issue 😅
Please stop apologizing. Anyone who is offended, will still be offended, and normal people don't need apologies. Seriously, anyone who is tuning into a knitting podcast and then gets irked by finished objects is nuts anyway. 😆
Rachel you said you knit something for your husband - would love to hear about the first time you knit garments for your partners! I told mine no way, but I’m a little superstitious
I feel you! 😂 we were married over a year before he got a sweater. I’ll have to show it sometime, I am so proud of it! It was not a secret at all, I made him try it on almost every day so I knew it would fit 🙈
You both knit very beautifully and your pattern choices are all so lovely. I love the neutrals but always choose colors, but seeing the yarn knit up makes me want more neutrals for certain things. Thanks for the inspiration ❤ Happy New Year 🎊
I really enjoy that you speak about pros and cons of projects.
Thank you! Adding more photos is definitely a goal of ours for our future videos! We also find linen pants and skirts so comfortable! 😅

This was fun! I love so many of the items you made this year that you’ve definitely added to my never ending TBK list:)
Thank you for sharing. Fairly new to garment knitting. Love your Clay sweater and thinking I may attempt to knit it
Amazing video! Beautiful choices and lovely yarns!
Absolutely beautiful pieces. You two are so prolific! Happy New Year 🎆 and Happy Knitting 💚🧶💚
❤ Another great episode, I think you are now my favorite podcast! I can’t wait to see what the New Year brings.

Happy New Year! You all have such a great channel!
Thank you! Happy New Year to you as well!
So happy I found your podcast! ❤

I was struggling to think of the name “Mey Camisole!” I’m so glad to hear to love it! I think one might be in my future this summer 🤗 ~Jess
Definitely planning on making the Kelly sweater and hopefully a version of the Festive Yoke pullover if I get around to managing colorwork this year !
Both these videos were so good! Thanks for sharing!
I’d love to know how you store all your knit sweaters ☺️
Thank you so much! We both store our sweaters folded and stacked to help prevent them from stretching too much. ☺️
absolutely love your knits and your company!
Ravelry Queues only seem to grow over time, never get shorter! We don’t know how that works 😅 thank you so much!
Ahahah indeed!!!!! @@thosetwinswhoknit
Oh my! I love both of your aesthetics! Gorgeous makes - I am jealous of the Levitate wrap, but I don’t think I’m up to all the double knitting - love your channel! Happy New Year!
Thank you so much! Double knitting is definitely not our favorite, but it can be worth it! Hope you have a wonderful New Year!
Thank you for mentioning using ziplock bags to manage the colorwork chaos!
I'll try that in the future!
I don’t know that a colorwork expert more knowledgeable than I would recommend it, but it helped me get the job done! If it works, it works!
So ring and so helpful.
That is such a beautiful pattern! I bet it’s gorgeous in the lambs wool 😍
@@thosetwinswhoknit thank you. Shows unavailable
Do you have tutorials on what you have knitted?
Snap buttons*
I must have missed that step somehow! I will for sure be going back and adding a snap though! Thank you for the advice!
That is a really good idea! The length would be perfect for this! Thank you so much for this suggestion!! 🤗💛
Happy knitting in 2024
Ohh her patterns are absolutely gorgeous! That’s a good 2024 goal! Happy knitting to you too! ☺️
We have not made that one yet, but it’s definitely on our radar! It’s such a beautiful pattern! Glad to hear you loved it! Wool Far is so cozy!
I loved doing the double knitting for the Levitate. Did you not put a snap on it? I put a snap at the hem for my daughter’s.
Oop I must have completely missed that step, but now that I know that’s an option I will be going back and adding that. 🤦🏼♀️ thank you for the advice!
Hi I couldn’t find the Lace Leaf Pullover on the BT or Rav websites. Can you help? It’s really nice. Thanks.
Hi! I think it only shows up on Ravelry if you put it in as one word. Hopefully this link helps! ☺️ www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/laceleaf
Love hearing your feedback on the patterns. "Scamming the gram" included 😂
Haha thank you! 😅
1:08:44 I hope you kept it. It look so cute on you.
Красивые девушки. Какие вы умнички. У вас золотые ручки. Всё вещи чудесны❤
It doesn’t get the amount of use that would make it worth the time 😅
How do I find the pattern for the Sandnes Garn slit sweater? They don't offer any direct downloads off Ravelry.
Thank you for answering this brings some light in the matter :)
All hand-made?😮
I really want to knit the porcelain sweater, but I’m thinking I’ll knit the top in the round with steeks so I don’t have to knit Colorwork flat. 😂
I think it could definitely work! Either way is a bit of mental gymnastics so just depends on which one you prefer 😅
Please stop apologizing. Anyone who is offended, will still be offended, and normal people don't need apologies. Seriously, anyone who is tuning into a knitting podcast and then gets irked by finished objects is nuts anyway. 😆
This is a good perspective and definitely something we need to keep in mind for future videos! Thanks for the advice! 😅
🍀
❤❤❤
Rachel you said you knit something for your husband - would love to hear about the first time you knit garments for your partners! I told mine no way, but I’m a little superstitious
I feel you! 😂 we were married over a year before he got a sweater. I’ll have to show it sometime, I am so proud of it! It was not a secret at all, I made him try it on almost every day so I knew it would fit 🙈
I’m laughing at myself, Sandes Garn recycled wool- wouldnt all wool be
recycyled thanks to the first wearer the sheep!
lol that would make sense!! 😅
So interesting and fun 🤩 thank you ladies, here’s to 2024 knits 🧶💕
You both knit very beautifully and your pattern choices are all so lovely. I love the neutrals but always choose colors, but seeing the yarn knit up makes me want more neutrals for certain things. Thanks for the inspiration ❤ Happy New Year 🎊
