I must say I really love your Myst Let's plays. You really know your backstory. As a large fan of the series, I find it rare that I learn anything new, but you do teach me things.
I like that when you link to an age, you get to experience the whole fly-by instead of it fading to black.
I can help shed some light on the tapestries. Both tapestries cover events that occured in the 3rd novel. In the Age called Averone, Atrius was doing some experiments there and the people there allowed him, as long as he would leave peacefully and take everything when done. As he was leaving, he was going to give the gift of books to the children (who had grown fond of Atrius) The one different guy on the leftish side was an Elder who said they would help Atrius search for D'ni. (Left)
The second Tapestry depicts when they started visiting the Ages and looking for survivors. The large centerpice at the top was the first Age they found with survivors, IIRC.
First one on the bottom is them beginning to check the ages (It was something like 5 groups of 2 with a leader searching in different directions.
Second is one of something like 14 Ages Atrius had separated that were either in bad condition (burned) or had no Maintainer's Seal (or the seal was damaged)
Atrus might not have followed you for the simple reason that HIS HOUSE WAS ON FIRE!
LoL
I read BoD pretty recently. #1 is Atrus looking out at D'ni after breaking out of K'veer. Those are the Averonese, who helped him do this, and even helped with the process of finding survivors. Then on the bottom is I think (from l to r ) A: Atrus adressing the Averonese to help him in his escape. B: I think this is native ife on Averone, actually. The book said they lived in tents, primarily. C: Atrus is probably reading the damaged linking books to the worlds that may contain D'ni survivors.
The tapestries actually show the events from the Book of D'ni novel. So the guys you called D'ni survivers are actually the inhabitants of the age Averone. It shows how he breached the cavern, the death of one expedition member by a predatory creature. The tapestry with the big ship shows the first meeting with Tamon and his colony of real D'ni survivors.
@iSparkettei Well, according to Cyan's official timeline, Myst 3 is set in about 1815, and according to Don Rosa's timeline, Scrooge McDuck wasn't born until 1881, and wouldn't even earn his first dime until 10 years later (see "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" by Don Rosa). :P
"Goochy goochy goo, woogish woogish woo" That was the best, you have a new subscriber because of that. Keep it up, please.
Hey, don't knock the glass case! Scrooge McDuck put his number one dime on a pillow under some glass. It wasn't even locked like the book is! And yet the Beagle Boys and Magica DeSpell never stole it. Wait, actually they did steal it! All the time! Scrooge just always managed to get it back. ;-)
I believe some of the pictures depict the events from "The book of D'ni"
Ah, the war of Terahnee. Those guys should consider careers as novelists, because that was a great read. Not the journal; the account of the attempt to rebuild D'ni. It's part of the Myst Reader, which you can buy.
Many Disco Sticks shall be seen, oh yes.
this is awesome. It's obvious you're really well-versed on the lore (even better than I am, and I'm a huge fan XD) and that makes your playthrough all the more interesting. Seriously, great job!
at 1:11 the cave floor is not magma it's actually a lake that has day and night cycles
during the "day" the algae is timed to become fluorescent and create light for the cave. The algae it's self was introduced to the cavern by the D'ni
Second one shows them building temprorary shelter (many of the places had collapsed walls and such making then not very habitable)
Third one is some of them busy dredging up sunk boats and repairing them for use (D'ni has a natural lightsource being some algae in the waters- and there's a good bit of water down there)
Fourth one is Atrius reading over books trying to sort which ones are likeliest to have survivors and are usable (I believe the final tally was about 47 books)
lol i never noticed the Catherine and Yeesha thing being in reverse before...or that you could look at the bottom of the tapestries!?! what's wrong with me?! geez....
"and.. earning merit badges" XD
i cracked up on the glass case thing and the Tom Cruise thing XD
"i guess that tends to happen when Brad Dourif randomly shows up out of nowhere and steals your vacation home with his bare hands.." LOL
i love your commentary! can't wait for number 3!
Glass case! LOL!!! I never really thought about it. This is a wonderful video, great commentary.
Cont'd on the second one: These ones they used a special chamber the Maintainer's used when checking Ages of questionable hospitality. The first one, the kid in the suit came back half crumpled/melting and the cooling vents switched on. And these suits were build STURDY. He just was unlucky enough to Link into a SUPERNOVA.
Third one is them finding the dead D'ni from the plague.
Fourth is the first Age where one of the people were killed by a predator that shouldn't have developed in that Age.
That guy is Brad Dourif He played Chucky in Child's Play/Chucky movies. Also, Grima in LOTR: Two Towers
+Nodak81 which one was Brad in One Flew Over The Cuckoos' Nest ?
oh
I actually liked this game. It gets a little negative review, unnecessarily so. It had a lot to live up to with Riven, & probably any attempt would fail to get the reception it deserved. It succeeds beautifully in conjuring up strange & beautiful worlds which is what Myst was always about.
Every Let's Play I have seen, the owner gets so paranoid and xenophobic!
I love your sequel to Myst. BRILLIANT!
Damn, almost three years since these were first uploaded. Doesn't seem that long ago.
Still have the subscription so will watch the new LP as soon as it comes out :)
How many times do I have to tell people DO NOT KEEP FLAMING HEAT SOURCES IN YOUR LIBRARIES!!!!
Oh man all my books got burned I don't want that to happen again SO LET ME KEEP THIS FLAMMABLE, BREAKABLE, FIRE-BALL THING IN MY LIBRARY!!
*flips tables*
ill file a complaint to the duni safety board
Uh, let's see. First tapestry is Atrus and the Aver ... someones (not D'ni) finally breaking out of K'veer to look upon the ruins of D'ni. The bottom seems to be searching the D'ni Ages for survivors.
The next tapestry is definitely looking for survivors. Bottom is, I think, conversing with the survivors.
WHY IS EVERY AGE ALWAYS AN ISLAND
Lol!!!' "Punk! Get back here!!!' 😡 < sigh > 😤"
Coochie-coochie-coo! oocie-shnookie-schnooc
The device at 8:20 is the rose that turns into a skull from the first Myst.
Is this going to be another leisure play through like the first myst? i really enjoyed that LP very much! and how come you dident do riven before exile?
im srry that tom cruise bit made me laugh so much that im still laughing.
Damn it, Catherine, you're going to give Yeesha brain damage if you shake her too much!
@BmdXxx You can hear a door open as you zoom in.
[SPOILER ALERT for BoD] The bottom of #2 shows the sick slaves that Terahnee wrote in from other ages to build their empire. There was a devastating plague that killed many of the slaves and ended up killing many of the royal Terahnese as well. Not sure what the 'garbage spill' is though.
If you link into a linking book, and then someone erases everything in it, does the age become a white abyss?
I enjoy your narrating, you crack me up. lol
4:36
AAAAAAAH! first ever action in MYST!!!
Catherine actually states at the end that the linking book got burned up before Atrus could follow you.
Help me Tom Cruise! LOL! XD
I think some of the bottom pictures show him helping the relyimah on Terahnee
#2 is almost certainly the Averonese, several D'ni survivors, Catherine and Atrus being greeted in Terahnee. I won't spoil the book, but that place looks nice, but it actually sucks.
@MalStar1000 linking book, its linked like a portal not like it contains the entirety of the universe
Saavedro's the guy who played Wormtongue, good actor.
AAH I'M ON FIRE! HELP ME JESUS! HELP ME JEWISH GOD! HELP ME TOM CRUSE!
I should further note that the idea of Jesus Christ as a sungod is a bit controversial. They often don't want to think that twelve isn't a special number; or, that just because something comes in twelve, doesn't mean an astrotheological associattion. But, I've got plenty of primary source, B.C. timeframe confirmations of the personification of the twelve zodiacal constellations. Here, we see proof that thirteen was thought to be the number of constellations in a year(they could have had different groupings of stars, and been able to fit in two groups for one of our twelve constellations. . . . anyways, I recently confirmed this one proof for the twelve gods. . . . there's a book of Jasher, which is a kind of pre-Genesis book; ti's given "scriptural authority" in Joshua 10:13, which states "And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. "Is not this written in the book of Jasher?" So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day." I've put the biblical mention of the book of Jasher in quotes, within this quote. This quote is incidentally the famous Joshua making the sun stand still. . . . about that book of Jasher - Jasher 9:8 has it that Abraham's father Terah worshipped the twelve gods. It also proves that these twelve gods are sun gods. - "And Terah had twelve gods of large size, made of wood and stone, after the twelve months of the year, and he served each one monthly, and every month Terah would bring his meat offering and drink offering to his gods;"
- not only are the twelve tribes of Israel just a personification of the twelve zodiacal constellations, but the twelve followers of Jesus Christ are just a personification of the twelve zodiacal constellations as well. All that and everything else you need to know about religion in general, really, is in my Gospel of Truth,

+ShadyParadox Glass? Ultimate protection? Haha wrong. I would've chose a transparent unbreakable materiel like diamond. Metal is good to. :P
Dilandau3000 has the correct explanation of the tapestries, but I still like yours better.
You're so silly sometimes ^-^ ( sidenote: I would love to see these games make a come back. I just got done watching a walkthrough of Phoenix Wright.)
love your sarcasm...
Ah kootchy kootchy koo!... a shnoochy shnoochy shnoo
Umm? That fire Marble thing? It didn't burn the creepy lady hunch?
@iSparkettei You'll have to ask Yeesha for that one, I expect. :)
Doh... I never realized about the one side is blocked part of the rotating poles... Its so obvious now...
goochi goochi goo , schnuugy schnuggi shnug xD
😂😂😂😂😂😂 How much caffiene did he drink? ;)
XD
XD
funny. Thanks for the videos too.
ShadyParadox really cracks me up with his narration of video game walk throughs. I used to watch alot of Dilandau's walk throughs of Portal and Portal 2 until he got fed up and royally pissed off at me for typing so much comments ( yea he blocked me to :'( ) . People get so damn wrapped around the axel about their precious little videos! It's not like we're going to go to market and sell them for prophet to make money! I mean sheesh! What's everyone so flipping afraid of? Are they afraid that we'll steal their CopyRight Let's Play Videos and sell them on the black market!? Yeah right! I don't do that crap! I just come here to watch and enjoy the videos! Not to come here and get cyberbullied by the video owner by saying " You're done here, you're through!" Talk about people who have severe case of Xenophobia 😒
@QUANTUMJOKER Hahaha. Judging by the later games, I'd say she did.
Cootchy Cootchy Coo! !ooC ychtooC yhctooC

Atrus didn't follow us for some reason?
How about his house being on fire?

no thats the weeding at the end of the book.
Do you have the walk thru of Riven?
Nope. I've been asked many many times.
Whether I eventually make one or not, for now I'm going to work on other adventure games outside the Myst series.
