Why has it got all the search and rescue gear on it ,there are two black pods on it one on top for radar ,the other behind the front wheel is sonar the fins on front and behind this bottom pod are aerials ,also it has the football camera unit under it's nose ,the last window on the side near the tail is a bubble window which allows the crew member to stick their head outside the frame of the plane and take photos,why would you have all of this if it was a transport plane,love the video thanks .
@@rjonsen There is ,it was only recently made public that an agreement was in place that the RAF has permission to fly in Irish airspace,as Ireland does not have the capability as it has no jets or military radar.
Ireland trains British troops for peacekeeping missions and bomb disposal or ordnance. Both nations contribute to different types of training and both islands geography is pretty much the same also neighbours so makes sense.

Guess it serves more than one purpose, both transport and Search and Rescue

For a neutral state their military does a fair amount of training in the UK
They sure do, I'm not sure if there is an agreement between the two countries with regards to military protection from the UK?
