  • Apologies for the slight sniffles here and there, I've had a stuffy nose the past couple days. Also the bad lighting, which I have no excuse for, and the clumsy handling since I wanted to get everything in one take but only one hand open to work with.
Anyway, I wanted to document all the various features of a MOC's leg design - I'm pulling it apart to revise it into a smaller, simpler form to enter in an upcoming contest, but since I'm not sure exactly what will and won't carry over into the new version, I thought I should document it for posterity.
    Features shown, in order:
    - "Spring-Heeled" ankle, to act as shock absorbers, and also helps bear some of the MOC's weight.
    - Extremely versatile ankle articulation, and the way the "cuff" of the leg fits neatly with the shape of the foot.
    - Even an individual leg is well-balanced enough to stand on its own, unless put at an extremely bad angle, or knocked over by clumsy hands. Both legs together are INCREDIBLY stable.
    - Strong friction mechanism on the lower knee, extremely instrumental to carrying the weight of the full MOC and maintaining the powerful stability.
    - Flex tube that connects to the MOC's lower back, mainly for aesthetic purposes, but with a sliding base so it doesn't restrict movement, and the ability to flip to the outside to allow for the upper knee to crunch. (The tube can also remain beneath the thigh when it's crunched, but that requires finer manipulation than I was capable of with just the one hand, so is unfortunately not demonstrated here.)
    - Upper knee can crunch really tightly, with an open hole in the midleg lined up with a singular jutting pin so it wouldn't get in the way.
    - Two parallel ball-joints form the upper knee, again for additional friction and stability, while another balljoints adds additional friction to the lower knee's mechanism.
    - Smooth and thicc thighs :V (But seriously, I am really proud of how I was able to get the Nuhvok Shield to fit smoothly over and lead into the teal technic shell, giving some nicer aesthetics to contrast with the technic kludge below.)
    - Another attempt to demonstrate the stability, that is preemptively undermined by my own clumsiness.
So yeah, this is a whole entire thing. Hopefully I'll be able to keep most if not all of these features for Version 2.0, but if not, at least I'll have this as record, and I'll also be taking detailed breakdown/instruction photos so I can reconstruct it if need be.
