    Omfg it's HILARIOUS to me how filthy this bar looks in Helen's version compared to Alison's. Helen's rich upbringing definitely makes her see it this way hahahaha

      Yep. Also in Alison's version, she's wearing a high neck jumper. Here it's a slutty little low cut shirt. In Alison's version, Helen orders them two Long island ice teas in a classy place with white candles, here it's Alison who orders them whiskeys in a smokey bar with red/hellish candles. Not too sure why Alison remembers it with Helen wearing glasses, though?

    Cole is my favorite character on this show. Dude should be in more episodes. It's almost like he's recurring status.

    Cheating is the worst form of betrayal. Actually I’d rather be murdered than cheated on. But god forbid something like that happened to me, that woman would be written out of my life.

    I just started watching this show. And I can see why there is a connection between these two. The wife and the mistress. The mistress is a younger version of his wife. And she sees him for all he could/ can be. However Alison has the same flaws as her mother. Running away when things get difficult. But HIS wife will always be there for her husband and give her loyalty even if she doesn’t want to. I see there affair as a fantasy and trying to regain their youth as if nothing ever bad happens anymore. And their “ need” to be together as part of a distraction from what they need to accomplish. I will always remember what max said to him “ you loved Helen “ what makes her so different?

    Still need to watch s3 yet. Only got as far as the first 2 seasons but with all the furore surrounding Dominic West the past week or so...I need a rewatch. Personally..Alison..you should've stuck with Cole!.

      Too much tragedy and pain woven into their moments together. At least in S1 & S2, it felt like the grief was suffocating Alison.

    didn't Helen say in episode 8 that it wasn't Alison's fault? It seems illogical to me, that now she blames her.

      This is another perspective of that conversation perhaps? Not everything makes sense as it's often different perspectives or people trying to 'justify' their actions.

      Have you seen The Affair before? It's different point of views. Last week we saw Alison's PoV in which she sees herself as fragile and innocent (as always) and Helen as some confident put together woman. Next week we see Helen's PoV where she's a mess and she sees Alison as a confident, unapologetic jerk. Thats literally the entire point of the show. Even the bar is different in each scene. To Helen its a dirty smoke filled hole because she a rich New Yorker. But to Alison it was a normal comfy place because she's a local and its home town.

      Leah Marie relax :v I do watch Affair and I know how it works here. I just didn't think, that this was the same bar and same situation. Maybe they are meeting again in next episode. And there are times on this show, when we don't see PoV-s, we just see facts.

    • @charlottebentsen4754
      @charlottebentsen4754 7 лет назад +2

      Rin Kath Actually no, we always see POVs - the show's creators have said as much, and that's the whole point of the show - that there's no objective truth.

    Oh man i so hate Helen, she just cannot possibly take any responsibility for anything (I'm not blaming her for the affair) and she constantly makes it look like she cares about people, but the only reason she makes herself so "available" to others is because she doesn't want to look like the self-centred, woe is me, emotional leach that she is, she makes everyone else feel bad for her not being satisfied with her life instead of actually doing something about it, she pines after a man who left her for another woman and instead of being a decent parent and putting her kids first, she had multiple misguided relationships that have an impact on them, she put her children in danger and neglected them for years and then wondered why they hated her, she did everything she could to hurt the people who cared about her and turn them against her, Noah isn't exactly the same but he's certainly no better, then theres Alison and Cole, they had a genuine reason for their marriage to be on the rocks and headed for divorce and they were able to admit it to themselves and eachother, it doesn't change that what happened wasn't ok, but atleast there was better reasoning than Noah and Helen (married too young, they grew more and more unhappy over time, marriage fell apart, their children were damaged when they didn't have to be if they'd been grown ups about it and then eventually they got back together despite nothing being any different and them still not being good together) Alison and Cole still loved eachother, they could've been happy together after they both accepted eachother flaws and all, they made themselves better people (Cole cheating on Louisa wasn't cool, but he only married her to try to get over Alison, also not cool) they deserved to be happy, Noah and Helen didn't, they had the chance to be happy with other people, Helen wasted 8 years of Vik's life so she could play happy families with a rich man her parents approved of just to hurt Noah (all her relationships were to hurt Noah), they were codependent, destructive, egotistical, self-righteous and petty, they didn't who they hurt, they just did it, their kids deserved to be happy, Alison, Cole and Joanie deserved to be happy, Noah and Helen didn't. I know someone's gonna say I'm ignoring things or excusing them, but I'm not, I'm justing saying that on one side you have a bitter, resentful timebomb, and on the other you have 2 parents in mourning that couldn't recover.

      I think you just told us about your own character. Because only a perpetual mistress would fail to understand what it’s like to be forever bound to two selfish exploitative spouse and his manipulative skank. Alison’s entire POV is woe-is-me like she just can’t help married mens organs falling into her and she’s the oooooooonly person in the whole universe who’s ever lost a child. She’s the stand-in for promiscuous women same way Noah is a stand in for promiscuous loser dads.
