My beloved country. Today it erupted again. Lord have mercy on the people of Goma. Today is May 22nd 2021. Beside the Genocide now the Niragongo erupted again. Please pray for the people of Goma.

And it happened again today. Meaning that it's getting more active.
A very scary and dangerous volcano. I feel for the people who have been faced with yet another eruption.
Anh it will happen again in 20 years later. No one can control that
It’s not getting more active. It’s been active since the lava lake formed. It just occasionally has a flank eruption that tends to flow towards Goma. It happened in 2002 as well.
Volcanoes don’t get more active. They’re just active and release their pressure every once in a while

So much better to have it presented to you rather than just see the picture fly by on a page somewhere :). It also helps people see patience, not everything can be leapt into at full speed.

I've always heard the air and smoke in and around a volcano like deadly, isn't that why all the locals are getting the heck outta there now? So I realize this presentation was years ago but at the time this Carsten guy seemed to be camping in the volcano
It is, but as a volcanologist and an explorer, you have to monitor the volcano and the direction of the wind. If you do that, you’ll be fine. There’s still plenty of oxygen in the caldera, so a gas mask is just needed when the wind blows the gasses in a different direction.
..& I hope he thanks his lucky stars every day that he is not a wedding photographer.
Also..the ravens down in the volcano...maybe they are Huginn and Muninn, Odin's ravens? ;)

THANK YOU That was very interesting, I would imagine that Africa has many volcanos, it is a large continent, the Rift Valley Splitting must be the most interesting, strangely not much info on south Africa, surely there must be dormient volcanos and subduction zones

Villagers were protected by the living GOD they believe in. Not the human powers. If Lulea volcano Americans did nothing what did you expect Congo to do? If Americans evacuated people and also Congo did. What is it different? Stop all this.
American not dangerous like African. GOD will protect Africa . We don't do things against GOD like lesbianism,idol worship,and so many evil things. Last few days was a sycrone heading Tanzania and it went off but India is having it. We are poor but only GOD knows why. Give us a break. Africa is also a continent like others.
