Seriously, I've put up with being harassed for decades for my appearance, suddenly my look has been vocally & verbally accepted by just about all. It's a beautiful trip.
I've always felt a kinship with drag queens, like we were going through some remarkably similar things as far as public harassment and dropping jaws wherever we go, and more.
I'm of the mindset as long as you're not being malicious or hurting any living being, there's no problem be you! You shouldn't be harassed for being YOU!

I love that they both talked about the cultural heritage of understanding gender as an indigenous person. The world doesn’t circle around the world view you were given
I think the point, that non-European cultures have always had more than two genders, needs to be at the fore and is illustrative of euro-centric oppression in the US.

i was so surprised by that, i thought it was pretty known. Shows the importance of people like sashing bringing awareness to it.

Im not suprised by this. Think about it social media has made people feel and think they know what’s happening in the world but most don’t take the time to read or educate themselves.
The reality: it’s really how much people awareness and imbalanced most of society vibrations are. It’s really sad.

@@sandra-jones I think by "right thing" they mean RuPaul decided to allow trans contestants to compete, not that Sasha won for political reasons.
@@Rampala I’m glad to see that RuPaul is evolving. I was a bit put off by the transphobia. But I do hope that the general cishet public is learning the difference between trans women and drag performers. Trans women are women. They are *NOT* “men in dresses.” Drag is art, drag is performance.

@@naylas3908 That one is a more difficult one to remember for many, "affect" being the verb, and "effect" being the resulting noun. Most people don't get a clear explanation or have forgotten over time.

Sasha deserved the win. She did a great job on RuPaul’s and I’m so proud that she’s from Hawaii.
I lived in hawaii for years. There is no stigma there. The folks between genders are called mahu. They taught my sons hula in school. They often care for the kids, because they're thought to have the best of both genders.
This is like one the most powerful interview I've seen on the daily show.
Sasha brings such a light to the way she speaks. And they way Dulce and Sasha parries wordplay and culture is chilling and brings tears to my eyes

Yes. There is one from Rupaul's Drag Race UK (Season 3) named Victoria Scone. She was also on Drag Race: Canada vs The World.
They could do fem drag, but theres also Drag Kings who dress as exaggerated masculine characters.

My step-mother is a happy trans woman, and I could not have had a more loving and supportive parent. I have been taking my daughter to family-friendly drag shows since she was a toddler, and she is very compassionate and successful in her life. She feels very supported in being who she is however she is. These politicized issues are so criminally ridiculous and inhuman.

Loving Dulce. I want to point out that there are communities of “immigrants” that choose to live near their families and culture here in America. My parents came over from Ireland to a very Irish community in nyc. Connections to home. Sharing.
Of course I know that a lot of times people of color don’t necessarily have that “choice”. But sometimes maybe. I’m not sure if I’m sounding racist or not. But I don’t want to. So. I see the struggle. I do my best and vote always towards equality.
