Some feedback on this device, after a few days this device stopped connecting! I could not find how to get it working again. I think that Thread is still a beta product!
OMG I have been battling for days with matter and thread. I had tried adding via apple home before but not put my blind properly into pairing mode. Once I did this and followed your video I was away. Thank you so much. I really appreciate you posting this video (amongst many more of yours I have watched).
@@simonsayshomeassistant OK. One gotcha I had was I got it recognised following your advice and it would show in HA when it was opening and closing but until I set the bottom and top position in the blind using hte process in the manual it kep saying unavailable when it wasnt moving and none of the buttons would work in HA or indeed Apple Home. As soon as I set the open and closed position it all started working properly.
Hi Simon, the method you describe is only way I have been able to add thread devices from Nanoleaf and Eve. So far so good for me have been using Apple first and then sharing with Home Assistant for a few months now and so far it has been rock solid. Enjoy your videos, keep at it. John from Gold Coast
Hi, I am using the Apple Home Hub Mini as my Thread Boarder Router, I found it easier to connect this way as I have not yet setup a Thread Router in Home Assistant
I’ve had one connected to Apple Home for a while and then shared more recently to HA using Matter. Sadly not been very reliable in my Garden so I recently bought an IKEA Zigbee sensor to replace it.
I also had issues with the batteries getting too cold with it outside so I used a USB to dummy battery to power it for a while which helped but still dropped offline at some point every few days
I have several Eve as well as Aqara Matter/Thread sensors as well as the Aqara U200 directly connected to my mixed Home Assistant/Google Home Thread network on channel 14 without any issues. Still works locally with the internet disconnected. Added into Home Assistant first actually. Not worrying about Google Home that much anymore.

Thank you SO much for your feedback Stuart! I am just recording a video about a Matter over Thread Smart blind which will be featured soon!

@@stuartforrest Great feedback, thank you. This could be a safety feature on the blind that will not allow it to connect until the limits are set.

@@campradt Hi there John, I love the Gold Coast ! Yes mine is working great too now. Thank you so much for your feedback!
What are the pros and cons of having HomeKit share the pairing code with Home Assistant? Also, what Matter Border Router are you using?

Nice! What is the expected battery life?
Eve claims that they last for a year
I thought the Sky Connect thing was supposed to make it so we didn't need Apple to get it on HA. I have one but have had zero luck getting it to work.
Yes I have the same problem I have tried to get the Thread Boarder Router within Home Assistant working but no luck yet!

@@HomeIsWhereTheSmartIs Thanks for your feedback, we are lucky in Auckland the winter is pretty mild, ie min 5 degrees C so I will see how it goes!

Thank you for the feedback Dennis! Is the Google device acting as your Thread Boarder Router?
