is there any way to mask the motion ? if it's outdoor and a tree moves in the wind for example.

Just to make sure, cos I bought a homepod 2gen and want to buy relays for blinds plus some sensors like these for lights:
I don’t need any hub if I buy matter thread homekit things? Unlike with zigbee I assume?

John, this was another excellent review. What I appreciated most were (1) details on the dates for beta, shipping of Matter devices, and estimated time for firmware updates to Matter and (2) reminder of nil benefit from Matter for HK users. I often forget that my family uses the SmartHome as well and they can get cranky when I’m fiddling with things. Joining beta or even upgrading my 40+ Eve devices to Matter is not worth the time. I’ll save that for non-HK devices that become Matter certified.

I just tried one on Homeassistant with their Skyconnect dongle.
It connects and reports illumination but occupancy doesn't work. Seems a somewhat common issue with the Matter version of this sensor. I have seen others reporting it on Reddit.

Avoid updating to Matter if you can!

Great review, but im a little disappointed that it’s lacking a temperature sensor like the Philips hue equivalent. This was one of the main reason I was about to buy more hue ones until I realised they’d doubled in price to £40

Does the light sensor work independently of the motion sensor or does it only update light levels when motion is also detected?

      It works independently

Allow me to add that this sensor is fricking amazing for what I needed it to do. Whenever I open my curtains, I really don't need the lights to come on when eve detects motion. So, smartthings allows you to add conditions and I simply added one to only turn on the lights after motion was detected and the lux is below a certain value. Then once I close my curtains, it goes back to turning on the lights whenever it detects motion...fricking amazing.

The Philips Hue motion sensor does all of that. Plus it has a temperature sensor and a much better wall mount. I’ve owned three Eve products and have returned them all because they didn’t work well.
