Agreed! I watched their documentary a couple years ago, and it was so incredibly hard for them to release their third studio album. It took four years and them eventually breaking away from the label, who then did everything in their power to squash the record's success. Since then, they've been fully independent. When you don't have a major label throwing millions at promoting you, it can be hard to break into/stay in the mainstream. I'm glad these guys continue to do their own thing.
Not a fan myself but people hate on them because they think they are "edgy". Saw their cover of Weezer's Troublemaker and I was like 1) Hanson is still around? and 2) that was actually really good.
It's an amazing song. I'm pretty protective of the original, but Hanson does an incredible job with it. Flawless harmonizing, and an awesome lead vocal by Isaac. I think Bill Withers would have dug it.
@@VPoki Sadly he just recently passed but even if he was still alive that statement is to say if he was lucky enough to hear it he probably would have appreciated it and enjoyed it.
I certainly don't want to take anything away from Hansen, but John Waite did a completely different, soft version. His voice is like velvet, and his phrasing unmistakable. I think that this is such a iconic song, that anyone who covers it, feels it deeply
They still have quite a following. They have their own label and do it all themselves. Also have their own beer and donate the money to tornado relief. They're good guys.
No one can sing this song like Bill Withers, however these guys did such a great job...really talented and true artists. Nice cover mates and you did it justice, RIP Bill.
+Taneesha Hawkins I was talking about with a friend and she said, maybe he likes it that way. I don't think anyone is stopping him or anything. I just love it when he sings, maybe the fact that he doesn't do it as much makes it more special though.
All of the producers and studio techs who worked with them when they were kids, were blown away. They said the Hansons knew exactly what they wanted to do in the studio and they knew their songs. No parents or agents. Just three little kids who got the keys to the car and drove it like they stole it.
@@GAMER-my3xb When you are bombarded with manufactured boy bands, this is an appropriate response. Hanson is the real deal. They never played the 'boy band' game.
I showed this too my Dad, his music taste is very odd. Didn't tell him who it was till after the song, he absolutely loved it. These guys are so underated and it's a shame because they ae so talented, and them harmonies.. damn. They meld together perfectly
That's the first time I can remember actually hearing Isaac sing lead. Until this moment, I wasn't aware he actually had an outstanding voice. This was an excellent performance, and Isaac sang with soul. Taylor is sure talented on the piano as well.
I think early on his brother became the popular one among the young ladies and sometimes decisions are fan driven. He has an amazing voice and I would really like to hear more. I want to hear what he can do with some jazzy/bluesy songs.
I grew up loving them, though I gravitated more toward metal and hard rock with age. But these guys maintain a special place in my heart. They're amazing artists.
my brother made/makes fun of me for liking Hanson. when i found this cover i felt like i did all those years ago completely in love not woth thier looks, though they are very handsome, i fell in love with thier voices and ability to take a song like this and sing it so well. I skipped the part that says who it is singing and held on to my phone but i made my brother listen to it only telling him its a cover. He loved it! was commenting about how great the singers voices were and how well they sang together. I showed him who was singing. his expression was unforgettably epic. He's mature enough now to admit he never tried to listen to anything they sang because of how they looked, Im happy to report that while he doesnt listen to them at all (lol) he has stopped picking on me because I loved them when i was 13. Im 31 now. finally some peace and quiet.
I listened to Middle of Nowhere yesterday, as a 30 year old who was a teen when they came out and it really surprises me how mature and well produced that album was. They were crazy talented and smart for being so young.
I really like their version. I went on here and played every version I could find, and this is one of my absolute favorites. Which I was surprised by as well. They did a really good job with this song.
I love the way you cover this song!!! It sounds great!!!! I think Bill Withers would approve the way you guys sung his song... Loved it!!! Thanks for sharing this video.
I really don't understand all the thumbs down for this - it's a really amazing performance - great vocals and a terrific version of the song. For those who aren't musicians themselves that middle bit of the song with all the "I knows" is hard to replicate and Hanson does it with ease.
So I'm supposed to like Hanson cuz I'm a musician? Throw in Donny Osmond & the Backstreet Boys, too! XD I don't care if they sing like birds, they're all still empty plastic robots. MOTORHEAD!
You don't have to like them because you are a musician or any other reason, everyone likes what they like but you must not know who Hanson is at all if you think they are empty plastic robots. They have always done their own thing, since they were little kids playing gigs trying to get signed to now owning their own record label. They have never cared what was going to make them popular or sold out just to please a label. Not many artists can say they have been writing and performing their own music for more than 25 yrs and still selling out concerts worldwide. Far from empty plastic robots, do your research.
plop888 what the hell are you talking about ??? If you like old school music then you would agree this was a good rendition of its original , why would it matter if your a musician in order to like this song ??
These guys are so incredibly talented! They harmonize so beautifully and their voices are so soulful. Plus, you can tell that they genuinely LOVE playing music. I have so much respect for them as artists. 💚
BEAUTIFUL. BILL WITHERS WOULD BE SO PROUD OF THIS PERFORMANCE. HEARTFELT LOVELY HARMONIES. THERE'S A REASON HANSON BROS. BEEN KICKING IT SO LONG! NOT JUST CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONALS BUT, GOOD MEN, HUSBANDS, FATHERS. GOD BLESS THEM. THEIR PARENTS DID A GREAT JOB.
People disregarded them as just a bunch of kids who didn't know what they were doing and just being puppets on a string that some adult was pulling... But here we are, 25 years (or 30 if you count the 5 years before Mmmbop) later, they are independent, still loving what they do, making it all work with wives and 15 kids between them. They have a documentary called Strong enough to Break - it's here on RUclips. It sort of explains why they're not as mainstream as they should be (in my opinion because they're absolutely outstanding artists and really genuinely lovely people from the vibes I got when I met them) But I love how they're just like, 'We're just going to carry on what we're doing and as long as the fans are still here for it, so are we'.
There is a Hanson sticker on the headlock of one of my acoustic guitars that my brother put there as a joke when we were young...this just made it not so much a joke. Great performance.

Why do people hate on these guys so much? They are truly talented.
Unfable ....it’s because those people are jealous
Not a fan myself but people hate on them because they think they are "edgy". Saw their cover of Weezer's Troublemaker and I was like 1) Hanson is still around? and 2) that was actually really good.
No one hates them , jackass people just love to pick!
Yep jealousy. This young men are talented.
jealous.
THIS…this is exactly why you guys should have won The Masked Singer. Your voices and harmonies are perfectly magical. I literally got choked up. Wow!
Bill Withers would be glad to hear this version. Smooth and deep.
@T S idiotazz
@T S you’re just a closed minded loser
Bill would be extremely proud.

Wow. This blew me away. The lead vocals and the harmonies too. Very talented.
I don't understand why people don't give Hanson more credit and I don't understand why Isaac doesn't do more leads!
Seriously, I was so impressed!! Great vocals on his part.
He does have a great voice, should sing lead more.

All you need: guitar, box and piano - and three wonderful voices of course...
I never knew Isaac had such a beautiful voice. All these years later I still love these guys 😍😍
all their best love songs hes got lead vocal on
He has the best voice of the three and should sing more.
They all have good vocals.
Isaac is more folk/country.
Zach has a more jazz/blues vibe.
Taylor is band frontman style.
Me too. My five year old daughter loves Mmmbop. Raising the second generation of Hanson fans 🥰
Oooooo, only tuned into this out of curiosity, and I suddenly have the utmost respect for Hanson, great job!
They're really good.
I know, right? I liked their songs when they were younger but now I appreciate their artistry as adults.
Same here a few years ago. Still come back every so often to pick up the pieces of my mind that they blew away.
Never heard of Hanson before, so no preconceptions. I think this is a hellava good cover of a classic.
They should tour more. They got genuine soul and they can zang!
They tour every year.
Real talent cannot be denied.
Great song. Love this version. Hanson know how to rock the harmonies.

Color me amazed. Not only did they grow into incredibly handsome men and pulled off a truly amazing cover. Well be done. I'm blown away

They probably have. Leon Russell was helping them and he produced and played with Freddie so no doubt there is some influence, here.
