Same thing started happening to me. At first it was like my engine shutoff really fast for like a second then kicked back on. Then it started happening until it shut off on me at a red light, at a stop light and almost put me on the side of the highway.
It turned the engine off and left my electrical on., didnt throw any codes as well. Started happening to me around 190 thousand miles.
    Currentmy have 242k on mine.
It was the crankshaft position sensor. Had the same issue one time on a grand cherokee yrs ago .
Glad u got ur figured out and fixes

Thank you for this info. My 2013 started having this issue, stuttering on acceleration, and once it even lost all power while driving. Though after 15 minutes, I was able to start back up and continue on my way. No codes ever showed up. I bought the crank position sensor within minutes of watching this video, and replaced it myself. Solved the problem immediately.
Tip: wait at least an hour after driving to replace the sensor. Everything down there gets real hot!

This video made my day. Have the same 2013 Jeep, and had the same problem. Also frustrated me for a little over a year. Started so infrequently I thought it might be a transmission issue so got a flush, nope. Then a new air filter, nope. Then a dealer guy drove it, no luck. How about a new MAP sensor, nah. Finally found this vid down a rabbit hole that began when I started using the adjective “hiccup” to describe the feeling in acceleration. Got the part, installed and the Jeep feels brand new. I can’t believe how easy that was to fix and how hard it was to figure out. Hell yeah. Thank you. I was about at my wits end ;)

Thank you for the video!!! My 2015 Jeep Wrangler unlimited at highway speeds lost power and had the RPMs go to 0 for a split second and would regain power and be fine for several days before doing it again. This happened four times to me. I was telling my dad about it at Christmas yesterday, he said, “it might be your crank sensor”. Well, thanks to my phone listening in on our conversation that night, I was scrolling down my RUclips feed and found your video, 3rd video down. And thought what the hell, I’ll try it for $20. Today the jeep ran great, I picked up the sensor at O’Reilly’s, went to the gym. When I was leaving the gym, for the first time the Jeep starting running like shit and had no power. Misfiring and finally threw a code and what do you know it was the crank position sensor. I changed the sensor and cleared the code in the McDonald’s parking lot and the Jeep ran like new on the way home. Thank you again for taking the time to make the video!

Mine went bad around 90k miles and I was pretty sure the CPS was the problem but like you, it wouldn't throw a code. I drove it for a bit longer and it slowly got worse, eventually it threw a code and then the dealer fixed it under warranty. Knowing what I know now, I'd just fixed it myself and sooner. It's lame that it takes so long for it to trigger the code.

I had one of them go on my 2015 Rubicon on same engine. Scan tool told me which one to change. My symptom was traction lock light would come on over 75Mph, which would lock up rear brakes which Jeep simply overpowered. I had to turn off traction control from switch and when I stopped, smelled the bakes burning. It would also throw the check engine light. Once crankshaft sensor replaced.. all fixed. Occasionally I got EVAP check engine light on also, that has gone away also since changing this crank shaft sensor so maybe it was all related and threw codes being on same BUS network.

Thanks! It's apparently a common problem with these 3.6s I currently have a gladiator with the same engine and I had to warranty it out for the exact same reason. It's the gasket for the timing chain cover. Luckily it started leaking before my warranty was up. I bought it brand new in 2021 and it started leaking around 2023. And surprised they didn’t tell you they would need to crank off the top and check the camshaft/recommend 1500 for the part and 2200 or so for the labor if it was malfunctioned at the bottom. My jeep kind of had similar problems but my engine light actually came on later and was diagnosed as a cylinder two misfire. Unfortunately for me it wasn’t as simple as coils and plugs.
