Hi there! Very good presentation as everytime! Becouse you ask your self how to pronounce plethora, if you want to know plethora is ancient and modern Greek word, and the right is pletόra and not plέthora. Word means "big number oh things, big crowd, many things. You can call it as you like, but I just inform you as a Greek man. Nice video!
@tcelectronic y’all’s support and knowledge base for the plethora is abysmal. Not to mention how janky the TonePrint app is. Very impressed with the sounds but the UI makes this pedal so insanely difficult to use
The Ciocks DC7 has 600mA per output. That would handle the power requirements. I like the smaller size of X3. That paired with a UA Amp pedal or an Iridium would be a fantastic small board with lots of options.
9v 600ma, just requires using 2 or 3 9v together, as long as they reach 600ma or more together. The MXR238 ISO-Brick-10, isolated power supply, has 2 9v 100ma, 2x 9v 300ma, 2x 9v 450ma, 2x 18v 250ma, and 2 6v-15v 250ma with knobs to put it where one wants between 6-15. They’re $150 new. The Cioks is killer, because it has the capability of doing 9v 600ma, 12v 500ma, 15v 400ma or 18v 330ma. It also gives ability to daisy chain from one outlet, and it doesn’t split the voltage, just the milliamps(I’m pretty sure), so it really can do more than just 7 pedals, depending on how it’s used. About I’d like to replace the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 plus. $230 new. It’s worth that extra money, as with the daisy chain ability, it can easily handle 10 pedals, as long as they aren’t all digital ones, needing ridiculously high milliamp levels. For $150, and even some used at about $100, if one looks around; the MXR is the most affordable, of the isolated output power supplies.
Jim , can this unit be used with the iridium via midi ? Sorry I’m new to all of this , I know the iridium has small midi connections compared to the 5 pin ones on the TC .
that's awesome ! We need the plethora X10 with an integrated expression pedal! more advanced looping functions, and some boosters and distortion pedals ! and that will be the dream rig !
I have an X5. LOVE IT!! I agree that it takes up a lot of space on my board, but no more than 5 mini pedals, once you factor in the patch cables. I don't need all of the pedals all the time. I do have a couple of boards that I use all 5 at once, but most of the time, I only have 2 or 3 on at a time, so for anyone considering this product, the number of pedals you use concurrently might be something to consider. The great thing about this product, is the concept boards. You can have a board per song in your set list. You can also duplicate boards so you don't have to start from scratch, or if you want a slight variation on an existing board. I wouldn't recommend using it for patch changes during a song. Moving from one board to another is too slow for that. I don't have a MIDI controller, so I can't comment on that as a possible solution. But other than that, it's GREAT, and it's DEAD simple to use. However, you can access the deeper editing functions from the app. Regarding the power, it does come with a wall bug power supply. So I just run that, along with the cheap power supply that can't handle the X5, to my power bar , job done. But as Lee mentioned, it runs just fine on a 500mA supply like a TrueTone CS7, not a cheap one like I have. If you have to buy a power supply, I would agree with Jim Mayberry, Ciocks DC7. I might make that investment at some point.
So if i want i can plug a midi controller to switch up and down throu banks with my foot without bending down every time to switch drive lives for example?
Three "pedals" would fulfill my needs 90%+ of the time, but I admit I would really miss having the effects loop. On my X5, I almost always have one or two pedals running before the dirt and being able to change that up without rewiring anything has been a HUGE timesaver.
I have two X3's, on different boards. One uses a Cioks, so I have 600ma available. The other has Strymon power, and I use a combiner power cable. Great pedal.
I own the Plethora X5 (thanks Andertons for the great Black Friday deal!) and I wish they'd make a BIGGER version!!! Three of my five spots are taken by non-negotiable effects (noise gate, delay, reverb) so I really only have two spots worth of room to customize with other effects... Lee, if you know the people at TC Electronic, please tell them there's a market for a BIGGER Plethora!!!
I’m no expert. I’ve seen vids talking about the tone print editor. Maybe that’s the key to making it sound more to your liking? I hope it is, as that would be good for us all if that’s the case 😊

@@notstask I'm absolutely loving it. Just found a tone print that changes the compressor into a 3 band eq/booster. It's got to be the most versatile piece of kit I've ever used. Yes, you're "limited" to just three patches in sequence, but unless you want to go mental putting flange on chorus on univibe on harmoniser with three delays and 2 reverbs.... it's plenty to work with. I admit that if I want to get really mad ambient, I run my KMA Cirrus into it, but it's really not necessary. It's stupidly easy to use, possibly the most user friendly multi-effect I've come across. The only thing to remember is that however you last left the bank, is how it remains. So if switching between banks, when you go back to an earlier one, whatever you left on or off is how the bank is. The only negative I've had is that for some reason, I can't connect via Bluetooth to my phone (I've sent a support request) but it's not a major issue, as I just went in via the USB (first world problems eh?) I've not used a Zoom since the 90s, so I couldn't do the comparison myself. All I'll say is that the sound quality is superb on the X3. It comes with a power supply, which is good as it draws 600Ma which most board power units can't handle. You'd need a Cioks if you wanted to go down that route, which is pretty pricey. Simply using a multi- point extension lead is a much cheaper option. Like £300 cheaper! I'll just say one more time, that sneaky eq/booster is an effing awesome easter egg.
It was hard to get on this side of the globe(NZ) but managed to pick one up after this review ...thanks Andertons for your great demo's ....Pete could sell Ice to Esk____'s
MXR238 ISO Brick 10, should handle this unit, using two 9v 300ma together, which leaves 8 outputs, ranging from 9v 100ma to 450ma, and two 18v 250ma outputs. $150 Cioks DC7, can handle it with one output, as it can do 600ma, for $80 more. It also has better daisy chaining options, and milliamp choices for each output. It’s the used price, that the MXR can be found for, that makes it so much more affordable. I’ve seen them for $100, but they sell pretty fast at that price used.
I*m searching for an all in one solution for my modulations and time base effects but I don't want to sacrifice my core tube amp tone. I have seen a lot of demos of the plethora and it sounds too pristine and digital for me. A little thin. I think this unit makes the whole signal pad digital because it has no analog dry through. About 26:00 we have the Snarky Puppy moment. Pulls Pete away from the Prince licks, but then I’m not complaining. In fact I’m thinking of buying for home use. Unfortunately it will still have me playing through it as I don’t see the Peter Honoré switch or option unfortunately. Is that available on some hidden menu called the skill print option Lee?
Is there a way for Plethora display to show what board (number) is active? It I want to switch boards on a fly just want to edit something, I guess I'll need to click on the switcher knob to get out of the current board to know the number. Maybe I'd like to put the boards in special order for a song. Oh, here's an idea. Why don't TC make it possible to gather a board on a single switch and then let us switch between them? It's, after all, three knobs there, just imagine the possibilities if we have _another menu_ for this somehow...
I only have one question - Does it have the Mimiq and the Infinite? If it has those two pedals I will be buying this pedal edit: question answered. Has the mimiq but not the infinite :( Hopefully in an update eventually
Wow cool, glad we got to wait over a year for 1 new delay pedal and midi shit with the new update for the X5 while they worked on this. Great job everybody. (obviously this thing is dope as hell but jfc over a year for the X5 updates that didn't even include the drive pedals they released earlier the same year.)
Hi Dominic, It would be very cool to have the drive pedals in the PX5, just remember that those drive pedals are 100% analog and not TonePrint products. But yes, it is possible to make great sounding digital drive emulations, that's completely true. I hope you're enjoying your Plethora X5, even though you're not getting everything you're hoping for.
Hi guys, love your video! I bought it directly after seeing it. I’m just wondering. How are you able to get this on a reliable pedalboard? The audio doesn’t always work. I even bought a CIOKS DC7 with 660m/A. But there is still a problem if i want to connect other pedal like overdrives, wahwah, compressor, fuzz, buffer. In your video it looks like you don’t need anything special?? Or do you know more about this, maybe something under the pedalboard that helps?
I'm not sure why you are having problems with yours , but I have the X5 and run it on my pedal board without any problems, I also use a CIOKS DC7 to power the whole pedal board. i've set my board up 3 different ways in the past and all 3 have worked ok. 1st way... guitar into drive pedal then daisy chained into 3 other drive and boost pedals then into the mono input of X5 then mono output to front end of amp (fender Deluxe reverb, No effects loop) 2nd way... X5 has an external loop, dont think the X3 has that option, this way I Guitar straight into X5 mono input, I have Compressor in position 1 on the X5 then it goes to the loop of 4 drive and boost pedals then back into X5 for modulation effects, then mono output to front of amp. 3rd way I use it, if I use my Blues deluxe, it has an effects loop, So I use 4 cable method, guitar straight into drive and boost pedals then out of them to front of amp and put the X5 into send and returns of effects loop. i've used it live all 3 ways and its always worked really well. hope this helps.
Want to warn you to register this within 90 days to get three years of warranty as opposed to 1 year. It's in the fine print I didn't see. A board went out on mine two weeks after out of the warranty period. So now I have to skip board #8. SMH
Slight fail that there is no TRS pedal jack. I guess MIDI switches but still. Would be nice to get a couple extra dumb switches to maybe assign for tuner and tap or maybe help with the looper.

Is it possible to use the send return way ?
About 26:00 we have the Snarky Puppy moment. Pulls Pete away from the Prince licks, but then I’m not complaining. In fact I’m thinking of buying for home use. Unfortunately it will still have me playing through it as I don’t see the Peter Honoré switch or option unfortunately. Is that available on some hidden menu called the skill print option Lee?
I wait since 1 year that TC add an UNDO fonction on the looper, like on the Ditto. One day maybe...
Tuner ... hold the upper right knob. The tuner will activate
are you able to change the looper to another pedal
Yes, I believe so.
This sounds great! Do the modulation effects support tap tempo to set the LFO speed?
Yes
Is there a way for Plethora display to show what board (number) is active? It I want to switch boards on a fly just want to edit something, I guess I'll need to click on the switcher knob to get out of the current board to know the number. Maybe I'd like to put the boards in special order for a song. Oh, here's an idea. Why don't TC make it possible to gather a board on a single switch and then let us switch between them? It's, after all, three knobs there, just imagine the possibilities if we have _another menu_ for this somehow...
is Drop tune possible with the pitch shifter?
I want one!! More than X5 i was thinking about! Have to text my better half ;D
Does this unit has a distortion or drive pedal as well?
I only have one question - Does it have the Mimiq and the Infinite? If it has those two pedals I will be buying this pedal
edit: question answered. Has the mimiq but not the infinite :( Hopefully in an update eventually
Hi. Do you know if the X5 has the Mimiq too ? Cause it seems like the X3 has it and the X5 don't(?)
I'm considering both and can't decide.
ok, sold.
No tap tempo on the tremolo ?
I think it can do tap tempo, because I have the Pipeline and it has it.
Someone has the answer ?
Yes, it's got tap tempo on the Tremolo. Just like the Pipeline :-) Secondary footswitch function has you covered ;-)
@@larsfrederiksen3005 Cool. That's what I thought. Thanks Lars !!
This pedal just gave you a new name for your show: HOT KNOBS
I haven't seen any serious videos on the plethora on an acoustic. Would it suit an acoustic?
Tuner triple tap the right switch
I think you read it wrong - 600mA for the X3 - not 900! Same as X5.
The reverb is giving me Mateus Asato vibes.
Oh boy I hate demo’s that show loads of over the top factory presets that sane musicians would almost never use.
Mash Effect 3 ...................... there`s a game title in there
Dammit.
I'd have been sold if it had the FX Loop :(
Yeah, that does seem like a pretty strange oversight here...Curious...
I guess you just buy the X5 if that’s what you need. X3 just sits before or after your other FX
@@andertons Maybe - but that hits point on size :/ this could have replaced 2 pedals on my board and given me a "plethora" of other options for cool stuffs but it's not meant to be. I see where TC are going with the X3 though - I'm just bummed about no FX loop
yeah there's a few effects I like to have before the drives, Viscous Vibe the main one. Still, it's awesome for a small grab and go board...
Just wait for the firmware update if the x5 has one they can add one to the X3
Does the dry signal sound out of phase to anyone else ?
Does it have a ring mod?
captain deja que toque mas pete~~ do not cut Peter in tones ! hahah God bless you~
is it possible to use Mash and Tap Tempo on the Flashback Delay at the same time, like in the pedal?
No, in the settings you can set the footswitch function to either Tap tempo or Mash, so only one function at a time.
@@pillarsofadventure Then it doesn't work for me. 😏
Put the Flashback on 2 slots with same settings. Set one to Mash and the other to tap tempo. Haven’t tried it though….
so I could get this and replace my: ditto, HOF, flashback and m5. mkay then.
Nice
There is room for 128 different boards 🙂
in this level of multi effects, don´t understand why not have preset mode
You could say it has a.. Piñata.. of effects built in?
Can Pete stop playing candy crush for a minute?
