CX-5 GT Reserve Turbo for substantially less cash, higher resale, and better quality please. Excellent work, gentlemen!
i have it and YES it is super fun, sporty, fast and very good looking car I LOVE IT
So tired of car manufacturers thinking that a red and black interior is ‘sporty’.
Green is sporty
No we don't think of that boxy gigantic truck when it comes to a blazer, we think of the blazer from the 90s
Just bought a 22 RS and clicked on this reluctantly. Doug Demuro and some others seem to hate it just to hate it. You two gentlemen were actually thorough and on point in everything you mentioned (good and bad). spot on. I have some confirmation bias and you appealed to that as well ;)
I’m a car guy at heart but had to buy a vehicle that was a compromise between sports car (me) and mid-size SUV family hauler (wife). This is the perfect vehicle that checks both boxes. I hope this vehicle stays around and they ditch the Equinox.
I have a 2021 RS, and I love it. I can't find anything wrong with it so far, at 8,000 miles. It's got all the bells and whistles. Drives wonderful, I put it to the test and snow the other day and all-wheel drive function flawlessly. Paid 46k
That front is a better looking Camaro than the Camaro. Very interesting
Such a missed opportunity with an iconic name. They should have built a boxy suv on the colorado platform and made a real bronco competitor.
$48k for that? ...dude, I must be completely out of touch with the market...
I agree. I thought $35k would be high.

You must be. The average new car price in the us is over 40k
@@doomsday9973 The **average** new car price is over $40k. That things is sub-par, and not worth "average".
Also, that comment was SIX MONTHS AGO. You're late to the party.
@@TJDST4 yeah so WGAF if the comment is 6 months old. “Sub par” is flat out your opinion not a fact. The reviewers raved about it.
This looks so stunning and better than the competition
Regarding the name did Paul forget about the S-10 Blazer? I think this is supposed to be more based on those, and not the old K-5s.
It’s so funny how all the reviews mention the K5, but none ever talk about the S10 Blazer! Lol
Im so excited started seeing this in the spring and knew i wanted one.. i settled with the two toned silver and black for 45000 2022 this past weekend… i love it
$48,000???? That is beyond ridiculous for that vehicle with that cheap ass interior. Better value? Hyundai Palisade fully loaded Calligraphy.
I would take the Blazer any day of the week and twice on Sunday over any Range/Land Rover,
Ravi Peiris M.D.
If they weren't going to build a Bronco competitor and wanted to build the sporty 5-seater, this still seems like a huge missed opportunity to attempt to build an SUV on the alpha platform, would've obviously costed more than reusing their current FWD platform, but GM could be offering a very unique and enticing product with RWD dynamics and performance at a lower price than the germans still. The last hope for a reasonably priced RWD platform is the upcoming models from Mazda.
That sounds good on paper but I doubt many people would buy a rwd GM sport crossover if they were cross shopping with the X3 and GLC. Unless it was something like a Durango or Cherokee that was big enough to justify its own existence and had a V8 in it for towing and payload, it would be dead on arrival. Maybe it would have worked in the early 2010s but this far in the game, it would be a flop unless it was a carbon copy of the Grand Cherokee or Durango in size and utility and by the time that happens, you're stepping into Tahoe pricing anyways.
@@Trussme96 I think it could work if advertised properly. Pretty sure the X3 and GLC are the best selling models from BMW and Mercedes and there are definitely buyers would want to spend a little less because they don't want something as flashy and don't want to get nickle-and-dimed on options, but would still care about good driving dynamics. It would also have to marketed properly, like how the SS wasn't. That car was a hidden gem that many compare to older M5's for a fraction of the price and more modern features, but GM didn't market it at all and then wondered why they didn't sell any.
I think MOST people who buy this vehicle never use the paddle, or thumb shifter for manual mode, so I dont think that is a legitimate gripe from anyone
FORTY EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS?!
Just like how The Ford Bronco Sport should’ve just been The Escape and The Escape should be replaced with THE FOCUS ST‼️👌🏽
I don’t understand Paddle Shifters that are attached to The Steering Wheel because when You’re turning You Stay in 1st gear too long because You’re constantly trying to figure out where the Upshift button is!!! BRING BACK GATED SHIFTERS OR PADDLES ON THE STALK!!!
I agree. Had paddle shifters in another car and found it useless. Only works if you’re driving straight.
We know how Todd feels about the vents...but what about the doors Paul? Also, Blazer v. CX5 Turbo...that's the match up I want to see.
GM should’ve put The 5.3 with Standard AWD.. If they can put it in a FWD Impala & Monte Carlo then it could’ve been done here!.. Also It’s Funny because this competes with The Honda Passport, Ford Edge & Nissan Murano and The Last 2 are Being Discontinued & The Passport is more Off-roader than The Blazer
Gm is its own worst enemy with these vehicles, like you said they have cut the pie into so many slices that they all overlap. This and an equinox on paper are the same to the average consumer who is not going to pay that money just for the Camaro look. They need to market this as a "Sports" utility vehicle. and push the RS and Camaro linkage. GM does zero marketing that I can see for this. and the Blazer name was wasted on it. Nomad would have been better if they are not going to use it on a proper sporty wagon that the do not market.
Goverment Motors strikes again i remember the 2007-9 blazer 400 hp, but this water down bean counter 1996 interior .smh, they could have made a good broncho fighter or wranger for that matter but gm just blacks out the bow-tie, red stitching, couple of red decals and they call it a sport , no serious engine up grade or susp, sad bean counter and preschoolers at work on the interior.
Picked up my 3LT last week. Just love it. 6K cheaper than the RS. I didn't want or need the extra options that are on the RS. And it still has leather upholstery, AWD and has the V6.
The Chevy blazer. Is the # 1 car of the year. As far as I'm concern. 💕
Thanks great review, I own 20RS in Midnight Blue and love it with absolutely no issues or recalls.
Why do all the subscribers from the main channel not subscribe to Test Drive as well?! I don’t get it! Hopefully someday RUclips will be as kind to you guys as you deserve.

Im so excited started seeing this in the spring and knew i wanted one.. i settled with the two toned silver and black for 45000 2022 this past weekend… i love it
Everyone forgot that the late 90s early 2000s blazers were some of the worst cars ever made
What a sad miserable vehicle. Stay away from any front wheel drive GM SUVs.
Just drive your Ford to the junkyard 😩
“It has flavor crystals” sums this vehicle up.
On the bright side I would totally take this over the Dodge Journey or Ford Edge when I reserve for an “Intermediate SUV” at Enterprise.
Agreed ! The Journey is stuck in 2010 !
They didn’t mention anything about towing. The AWD increases the towing capacity from 1500 to 4500 pounds.
its actually the v6 that increases the towing cap.
@@SuperWaterskiboy , the one they’re testing has the V6 already. You need both, V6 and AWD for max towing capacity.
We went to our Chevy dealer to buy a loaded Blazer RS but the one major flaw surprisingly no one ever talks about regarding it is the ridiculously short front seat bottoms which is like sitting on a short bench instead of a real seat, we just couldn't do it as much as we loved the performance & styling overall. So we bought a loaded Traverse Premeir Redline Edition for only a little more than the much smaller Blazer. I feel those Blazer seats would be very uncomfortable on long trips.
Yes you are correct in regards to the seats. Just sitting in it in the showroom it felt uncomfortable and didn’t even drive it. But I really like the style and options. So I bought a Chev 1500 crew cab RST loaded for 6 grand more. And the seats are so much better lol.
The lexus is 5 times better
They should have called it the Camaro E. It’s not a Blazer
…the exterior looks good & the engine sounds great but….it still screams Hertz, Enterprise, Budget rental car, especially with the black interior 🥴🥴🥴 !! GM just doesn’t make quality interiors unless its an Escalade or Corvette 🤷🏽♂️
Go with the Pilot, Sante Fe or CX-9 or something to reduce your stress levels concerning long term reliability and sit in a nice interior with good materials.
Absolutely a missed opportunity compared to Bronco’s comeback … disappointing.
There is a company making 2 door resto mods with new body Tahoe’s the way Blazer should be. I’m with u I’d love this truck but it should not be called blazer maybe the Chevy ST for small truck hell I don’t know
This or Jaguar F Pace SVR
I agree with the the name thing should be called something else but when you see one of these in the rs trim blacked out it's hot presence it has a lot of
Those wheels look terrible. Need something like the Ttailblazer RS wheels.
Blazing blazer 🔥 🍁 💚 🔥
Torbo=angry animal. The lesson of the day…
give me the 2.7 ltr. and ill trade in my mazda cx5 . the only thing i dont like on the mazda is the leg room
Back window wastes a huge amount of space
Ford does 2 different Broncos one of them use to be escape why can’t they do that call it the SS or ZL2 or something like that Chevy can still do this!!!🤯🔫🚙
I wonder why they discontinued the cargo rails and fence in the back. I find them very useful in my 2019 Premier, especially with the optional tie down rings.
You cannot understand how in love I am with this car !
Probably could make millions sub contracting to major automotive companies designing vents don’t miss your calling. Your great at this but vents and air flow is your calling
No I don't think anyone is cross buying between a Camaro and a Blazer, if they want a Camaro they get a Camaro
I own both!
@@donaldblazer509 yeah exactly, crossbuying would mean one or the other
@@donaldblazer509 so do I lol 21’ 2SS and a 23’ Blazer
Paid $45,269 out the door for my 23’ Blazer premier a month ago. Have the Brown stitching in the interior which is far better than the red stitching on the RS. I wanted the the RS front end but the red interior killed it for me. I got a good price because I work at Chevy. Employee discount baby
They have blue stitching. That’s probably what I’m getting soon.
I think you guys nailed it. It's a good product, with the wrong name. Todd's right - it should be the Equinox. And the Blazer should 100% be the upcoming Bronco competitor.
I appreciate the video.
2.0L 4cyl - A cattle prod on the end of a squirrel...there's a shirt idea! discussion starting at 13:36
All Mazda's with a turbo have a 2.5 turbo engine, not a 2.0.
I love the Chevy Blazer Premier V6 and RS. I wish they had the fog lights
The only spec on a car that I care about is vent size
I have this same color but I have two toned black on top
Remove the letter “B” and call it Lazer.
I live for the air flow vent rants I am a child
Good review, blah-zer car.
I'm waiting for the continuation))
Glad you vented your thoughts
6:00 todd is 110% right abt the vents
I’ll keep my Grand Cherokee, thank you.
Don’t like Fiats😩
I hate the gold bowtie logo, this looks better cuz it's just chrome and black
Blazing things in the blazer
Why would you ever buy this when you could get a CX5 for less and it has a better engine and reliability? The only argument is that it may be slightly more spacious, and you like the way it looks. Still, you would be spending about 8K more for a Chevrolet which never produces vehicles that last longer than 10 years. Look around, you won't see one...unless its a Corvette which is in most cases a weekend car.
I hope GM paid you guys a lot to review this …product.
No money changes hands when a car journalist reviews a car. We get press cars provided to us, and that’s the end. On this channel we’ve had a few GM products we really didn’t like and said so plainly. This one isn’t perfect, but as shown here it genuinely surprised us. Thanks for watching.
@@TestDriveVideos I have watched some of your other reviews and yes when you feel a vehicle has issues and point out really poor design choices you do. There are some yes that do review vehicles with a bias for sure.
Great review and I didn’t know about the torque vectoring. That is something when i looked at his vehicle the sales person didn’t even tell me.
I’m sorry but I believe from my personal honest opinion that the blazer drives like poop
I know this seems extremely far-fetched but compared to the Lexus RX 350 F sport it’s not even a competitor in terms of handling and ride quality
And compared to the edge which has far superior handling and material quality
I believe the blazer is not that great of a vehicle
I have driven both the Lexus and the Ford edge quite a lot and along with the blazer as fleet vehicles and the blazer is nowhere near its MSRP it should be at least $10-$15,000 cheaper it’s not that great of a vehicle in my personal opinion.
I feel like the ride and the 2020 blazer that I drive frequently feels like an old broken town car and it has 15,000 miles on it currently
Specifically the edge that I drive is it titanium it’s a 2017 and the blazer is a 2020 RS
I am fully convinced that the version that you were driving somehow is 100% far superior than the actual version that you buy at a dealership because the version that I drive as a fleet vehicle is garbage I’ve never hated a vehicle more in my entire life.
My parents also bought a Chevrolet blazer they bought it and they have owned it for over a year and they traded their Ford edge in for it they extremely regret it they have driven the Ford edge that I have as a fleet vehicle and the Lexus and they wish they would’ve purchased the Lexus over the blazer
WOW is is that bad? I love how it looks
