Currently, $1 = 45rs. For example, I purchased 10 oranges at the market and they cost 100rs = $2.19. Majority of the items at the market are farm to table. I found the prices to be very reasonable and lower than in the US.
@@expatsierra thanks! You recently did a vlog on Mauritius biscuits that was great! What does a traditional breakfast, lunch, dinner consist of. I noticed their market has fresh fruits, vegetables and fish. Do they also eat any meats and/or poultry?
Mauritian cuisine is very diverse and is reflected in the array of cultures that live on the island. For example, dosa with chutney is a popular dish , with Indian origins, that can be served at lunch. At the same time, chow mein/fried noodles are also a popular dish in Mauritius with Chinese origins. So the results will be varied across the board breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I will film some examples in the future. Quatre Bornes Market does have a meat market section, but I did not visit because it is very graphic.
Yes miss yesssssss😊
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching..😊
Omg!!! So many fresh items!!! I would have a field day!
It is a fresh produce lover's paradise! Thanks for watching. 😊
Was this part of a food tour?
I was just casually shopping and filming at the same time. 😊
Very nice 👍 I👍😁😁
Thank you for watching. 😊👍
Sierra, how is the USD exchange rate in Mauritius? Did you shop at the market? If so, how were the prices in comparison to US food prices?
