Great video man. I appreciate the fact that you left the mistake in the video. That's totally something I've done in the past with installing a button haha. I didnt know what "momentary" actually meant lol
Did you lose any other functions? I pulled my J6 fuse on my 2013 model and lost my cruise control, (pulled the J7 fuse, or both fuses, and lost my speedometer also). I don't go off road with the Jeep, (just my dirt bike). I just replaced all the calipers, pads and front rotors because of "intermittent brake dragging" that I think these unreliable electronic systems are a factor with. I can stop faster with out ABS anyway. Did you lose any other function by putting in the toggle switch? Thank you very much. Doug in Michigan
Great video. Almost done with this mod. Did the old school toggle switch. It'll be nice to have full control off-roading without all this nanny computer crap. And I cut the right wire too. Yay.
My current Jeep, is my 6th one I have owned. This one has a 4" lift and 35" tires. IMHO the Jeep traction control is NOT safe. Anytime a vehicle does...things... when the driver is NOT expecting that is a problem a BIG problem. Randomly activating brakes on this wheel or that one..and taking the gas pedal away from the driver is bad. Switch going on mine tomorrow. Generally I just push the off button..
Just did this... apparently there’s 2 purple/light blue wires I cut the first one and only ebrake light turned on then dug some more and found the traction/esp/abs wire. Confused me hopefully some of you get some help from this.
Also the toggle he installed is not called a momentary switch. A momentary switch opens or closes when depressed , but ratings back when it's released...
Great video, gave this a shot myself and it went well but I do have one question. When I toggle off my switch the idiot lights won't go off until I restart my vehicle. Have I possibly made an oppsie?

An easier way to disable abs is install the OBD JSCAN app from google play and pay $15 to register your vehicle. Once you do that there is lots of things you can enable or disable including shutting off the abs module. To find it go to ADAPTATION then go to MODULE CONFIGURATION once in there you will find ABS ON/OFF click on it and deactivate it! Boom done and no splicing wires.
The only issue with jscan is that it only stays disabled for about 3 ignition cycles. I have that setup because my clockspring is causing issues with the traction control triggering for no reason and I need it disabled until the new clockspring shows up (backorder). I spoke to jscan and for "safety" reasons the traction antilock disable resets after 3 restarts. It's kind of annoying to me so I'll be doing this switch. That being said the jscan app is still really cool and worth the purchase!
@@jaycotty no it doesn’t, I have drive through a national forest to my station and even if you hold the traction control button down for 5 sec’s or 10 it doesn’t turn off when it senses your sliding
I think the ABS can cause brake dragging issues, and I know I can stop faster with out the ABS system because I know how to use brakes well. I just dropped a grand into new calipers/rotors because I had dragging I did not even know about, and not always the same wheel(s), so I doubt it is just a caliper issue. I also gained 16.6% better gas mileage with out the dragging. I want to insure that the brakes can't drag from goofy baby sitter electronic systems that may only work when the stars are aligned just right. I am not a fan of the newer electronic control systems at all for reliability. It is best to learn how to drive, and reject the dictatorship baby sitters IMO.
Is very easy to do this even my kid's can do it better and faster than this way, indeed is not a good idea in this new model vehicles because when you cut that wire you will have more OBD codes U0110 and C.... C.... So please some people's are there they don't know too much about vehicle so if they a video like this they think that cutting wires in the vehicles is not a problem infct when you cut a on cars you a lots of trouble codes and the vehicle will faulty

I really need to do this. Thank you for making such a clear video on how to remove the parts and which wires to look for.

Personally, with my open Differential, I just turn off ESC and leave my brake locking differential on.. I love the job it does offroad
Thanks for not cutting out the mistake. Nice video. Earned my subscription

Awesome! I agree.. way better without the nanny computer features interfering

Also in future you should definitely do lift with big tire and , aggressive offroad bumper and paint matching hardtop
Thanks, Jay!
Any idea if this works for all years? Or just 2012+?

I have to ask , a momentary switch ? To cancel out another momentary switch ? The switch on the panel is just a momentary switch anyway correct ?
The switch on the panel doesn't actually disable it like this does. That button is useless lol
Also the toggle he installed is not called a momentary switch. A momentary switch opens or closes when depressed , but ratings back when it's released...
Besides under the center console, where else could I tap into that wire? I have a custom shift knob on my 4X4 shifter and dont want to take it off.
Thank you so much
Your awesome

Nope your idiot lights will stay on until you enable this system back on, then your lights will go out. That simple!
Hello please help me how to disable low beams while driving in the day
Why didn’t you disclose the switch turns off on the fly, but will not go back to normal unless you turn the Jeep off and then restart it?
That’s cool switch ! I think after this install you can do burn out 😂😂
Is this good for axle swaps?
Can i make with Bluetooth relay instead? If yes how? Because the relay have + and -
Doing for my E46
Will this completely disengage it or is it equivalent to holding the button for 5 seconds and the traction control still kicks on sometimes
This completely disengages it
Does this disable the speedometer at all?
No
Auto and manual gear same wire colour
Pull fuse J6, play, reinstall fuse.
Good alternative!

Why didn't your just hold down the traction button for 10 seconds like other jeeps do
That feature was discontinued and doesn't work on this Jeep
I have a 2016 and that works for mine
I'm gonna try that 10 second way first
The button doesn't "fully disable" the driver aides, this switch does, simples. Works sweet on my 2010 JKU
@@cosme2032 didn’t work did it.. lol it’s almost like people have figured this out already and found an actual fix for the issue
I don’t understand why you want this if there is already a traction control button
Traction control button does not turn off electronic skid control. E.S.C.
@@chrisw46360 yes it will turn off E.S.C if you press the button for five seconds.
Doesn’t let you do it in 2 high

Not to go off road, but to shred tires
Tapping into the ABS fuse
