NFL logos are a tradition in the league. There is no denying that. But that doesn’t mean that they couldn’t be improved upon!
Even the best NFL logos have specific characteristic that you probably wish you could change.
So, with that being said, let’s get right into it, as we point out one problem with every NFL team’s logo.

The saints logo is a fleur-de-lis and represents life, perfection and light. It is a French flower and is a part of Louisiana culture.
Yeah, but it was branded onto runaway slaves in Louisiana, so that whole claim goes right out the window.

@@jamesyates4836 you need to do some research dude. The French used that mark in all of their slave holding territories around the world. It wasn't one small group it was the whole damned nation. The symbol was stamped or branded onto all French "property". It's a symbol of a long dead, foreign, slave holding monarchy. It has no place outside of history books. There's much more to New Orleans than a symbol that is completely unrelated to the team name. Especially a team name that really doesn't have much to do with the city itself.
@@SkunkApe407 the fleur de lis was used on the helmets of the saints in France. So it does hold symbolism for the team. It wasn’t just used to brand slave. It was a symbol for the revolution, and for the French monarchy. I’m not saying it wasn’t used to brand slaves. But the symbol itself was to show the slave belonged to the French. Not as a symbol of racism

Honestly, I’ve been a football fan since 2007….. and I only last year realized that it’s a side view of a falcon. To me, it was always just a feathered ‘F.’ I do like it though.

@@SkunkApe407 That's a false equivalency man. The fleur de lis has been a significant icon in french culture for centuries, it's almost certainly the most well known image you could pull from their entire history.
Identifying it with slavery is pretty stupid tbh, The fleur de lis is freaking everywhere. That's like calling a star racist because the confederates happened to put some on their flag...

The practice took place not just in Louisiana, but French settlements around the world. The symbol was branded on slaves so if they did escape, there would be no mistaking to whom they belonged.

The Fleur de Lis is actually a symbol widely present in French history. Since French settlers founded the city of New Orleans, making it a vital piece of the history and culture of New Orleans, it makes a whole lot of sence to consider this symbol for an NFL team from that city. Also it's associated with knights, nobles, kings and the likes and often times also with the Catholic church. So... I don't know why you guys don't see a connection there.
and theres and obvius connection to jeanne d'arc the local hero of orleans. she got the fleur on her shield and got a saint after she got burned for being a witch :)

But if you are talking about Allegiant you are crazy because that stadium is now the #1 stadium in the NFL and you couldn’t have asked for a better upgrade.

Personally I would love to see the Browns used the bulldog as their primary logo. Since there's no dog teams/logos in the NFL it'd help them stand out a bit

The Fluer Di Lis is a symbol of good luck and was used by French royalty. It's French roots would mostly likely be why it got used.
As for the Washington Football Team, they need a flipping name even worse than they need a logo.

I can get behind some of these though, like the Browns, both NY teams, and the Bengals, though it is a sick looking B tbh, and while I have nothing against the current logos for these teams, I did like his suggestions for the Panthers, and Titans. Either way, I think he was just hoping that saying his thoughts in a confident voice would earn him brownie points, lol.
Yes, the Bengals dared to make their main logo the letter "B" with the same stripe pattern as their helmet. It will probably be a thing of the past soon, as they're set to get whole new uniforms for 2021. But the striped helmet will stay unchanged.
I think The Bengals need to go back to the Leaping Tiger Logo they had when Corey Dillon was there. They had an all black uniform to go with it

Can i just say that the criticism of the saints logo is absolutely gratuitios and even insulting. Like anybody that knows a little about history can make the connection between loussiana and france, and of france with the fleur de lys, its not really an obscure reference or anything. To assume most football fans cannot make the connection is insulting their intelligence tbh
Not only is there one thing that the NFL logos have that we hate, some of them don't even have a connection with their team.
The Saints only team I know have a connection to New Orleans and name represents the establishment. All connects.
The Cowboys, the Eagles, New England, Both New York’s, Cleveland, Houston, Tampa Bay, Miami, Kansas City, and San Francisco all have a connection the area they are in,
I like the Vikings logo, too. I think sometimes you lose something by modernization. I think most of the logos are actually pretty fab.
The Eagle being the only logo to be facing the opposite direction kinda feels special. Also yes ik about the hidden E in the Eagles feathers. #FlyEaglesFly
Fleur de Lys was the symbol of french Royalty Louisiana was named because of the great king LOUIS the 14th. then we can say that New Orleans represents the whole state.
Runaway slaves in Louisiana were branded with the fleur-de-lis. Is that REALLY the symbol you want for your state? Why not a Klan hood and a Maltese cross?

Canada also has a history of slavery, and Quebec had more slaves than any other province in Canada. Those are the facts and your feelings won't change that.

I think the NFL logos were the precursor to modern simple logos. The Texans haven't changed their logo ever since they started in 2002 and it still holds up perfectly today

Actually, before the present day Arizona Cardinals played in St. Louis, they played in Chicago and were called the Morgan Athletic Club. One day in 1901, the founder of the team got a shipment of faded jerseys from the Chicago Maroons, that were cardinal red in color. That’s how they got their name.

The current logo looks like Southwest Airlines in teal going through a sunburst.
The Falcon is shaped like an F, that's why it looks that way. And it has to use the team colors so of course it won't look like a real falcon. I think it's one of the best logos and I think my Jets have about the worst
Common, fleur de lys is French for magnolia flower, its an internationally know symbol associated with french culture and heritage

As a Bengals fan, I wouldn’t mind keeping the B logo as an alternate, but the Bengal head needs to be our primary logo. I’d love to bring the leaping Bengal back to our midfield as well, but I’d prefer to have just the Bengal head on the 50 yard line.

For all the former AFL teams, it would be cool to add an AFL A to their logo, somewhere within it.
That's not the Fleur-de-lis original use. It was being used 300-400 years before the African slave trade.

Watching this video, I chuckled when I got to the critique of the Seahawks logo. When I first saw it, I thought it looked really fierce. Answering the RUclipsr's question: he is focused on beating the opponent at hand. Do you see the hidden F in Atlanta's logo?

The Ravens logo really has no problems compared to the one they had from 1996-1998.

I think they got in hot water with old Swooping Screaming Raven logo because at the time it looked like the Atlanta Hawks swooping hawk logo. I've never had an issue with the Ravens logo

Whoever wrote this has zero sense of history or artistry. The Browns logo being a plain helmet is the *only* remnant of the days when EVERY team had a plain helmet. It wasn't until 1946 when the Cleveland Rams introduces the ram horns that ANY team had a logo. The NFL spend its first quarter century with logo-less helmets.
From what I remember the fleur de lis is a lily flower. It was commonly used in French royalty. The Saints name is from the fact that 60% of New Orleans is catholic.

While I'm not a Philly or Detroit fan they have two of my favorite logos. The eagle is classic, and the the lion makes me think sports car.

The dolphin with the helmet was bad ass. Flipper looked ready for business and it's a shame they nerfed him. Throw a helmet back on the logo and I guarantee they start running the division.

I know you need not worry about the fluer de lis and pronounce it right. The saints are one of the only teams besides the steelers and the packers that their team logo have something to do with their city or state.

"Fleur De Lis" means "flower" or "lily". It was a symbol of royalty in France and latter French Louisiana. That's why the Saints chose the logo.

Both Cardinals teens played in St. Louis for years, explaining the similar logos. Also, the Falcons logo is a stylized "F," which may explain their history.

The cardinals developed from the color. They used to be the Chicago Maroons, because of their maroon jerseys, and the color changed with time, so someone said they were the cardinals now.

The Seahawks' logo is based on area Native American totems. And the Titans were soundly defeated and punished by the Olympians in Greek mythology. I didn't think that Atlas, Tantalus, Sisyphus, etc. would be looked upon as somehow victorious.
I believe Sisyphus and Tantalus were demigods. The Titans would include Atlas (like you said), Kronos, Hyperion, Iapetus,etc. (Sorry, that’s my Greek mythology nerd coming out.)
