Καλλιμασιά - Kallimasia

Η Καλλιμασιά είναι ένα από τα μαστιχοχώρια της Χίου, 13 χιλιόμετρα νότια της πόλης. Ήταν ένα από τα σημαντικότερα χωριά του νησιού κατά το Μεσαίωνα, καταστράφηκε όμως σχεδόν ολοκληρωτικά από σεισμό το 1881. Είναι χτισμένη σε έναν κάμπο με ελαιόδεντρα. Αξιοθέατα της περιοχής είναι τα ερείπια των μεσαιωνικών πύργων και οι καλοδιατηρημένες και εντυπωσιακές εκκλησίες. Η Καλλιμασιά υπήρξε η έδρα του Δήμου Ανέμωνα και του Δήμου Ιωνίας.
Από την Καλλιμασιά κατάγονταν δύο Οικουμενικοί Πατριάρχες, ο Ιωακείμ Β΄ και ο Ιωακείμ Δ΄, ο Αντισμήναρχος Κώστας Περρίκος, αρχηγός της ΠΕΑΝ, ο ιδρυτής και πρώτος πρόεδρος της Ένωσης Μαστιχοπαραγωγών Χίου ιατρός Γεώργιος Σταγκούλης και ο πρωταθλητής της δισκοβολίας και ολυμπιονίκης Νίκος Σύλλας.
Κοντά στην Καλλιμασιά υπάρχουν γραφικές παραλίες με πεντακάθαρα νερά για μπάνιο: ο Άγιος Ιωάννης, η Μονολιά και ο Άγιος Αιμιλιανός.
Kallimasia is a village of Chios, built 13 kilometers south of the capital of the island. It was one of the most important villages of the island during the Middle Ages, it was destroyed, though, almost completely from an earthquake in 1881. It is built in a plain with olive trees. The sights of the region are the ruins of the medieval towers and the churches. Kallimasia has been the seat of Anemonas and Ionia.
From Kallimasia descended two Patriarchs, Joachim II and Joachim IV, the Wing commander Kostas Perrikos, head of PEAN, the founder and first president of Mastic Producer Association of Chios doctor Georgios Stagkoulis and the champion in discus throw and Olympic medalist Nikolaos Syllas.
Near Kallimasia there are the beaches: Agios Ioannis, Monolia and Agios Aimilianos.
