Snatch was almost like two movies in one. You had the unlicensed boxing, and the hunt for the diamond. Brick-Top and the dog were the only characters involved in both storylines. 😂
Say a Guy Ritchie interview, he said this movie and Lock Stock movie were basically a bunch of short stories ( based on stories he heard in pubs) stitched together. So, yeah.
Turkish, Tommy, Frankie Four Fingers (F3), and Doug the Head were all involved in both storylines. I would argue Sol and his boys as well as Boris the Blade were as well. They had to blagg the bookies and whack F3, which married the stone and the fight.
Alan Ford auditioned 3x for Brick Top, but Sean Connery was also interested in the role. He watched Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and said to Guy "You can't afford me." Ford came back for an audition and forgot his contacts, wearing glasses to the gig and Guy gave him the job there and then.

Don't get me wrong, Pulp Fiction is great, but there's something about the more simplistic nature of the story in Snatch that I find appealing. It's just very enjoyable to follow all these characters dealing with the boxing and the diamond and how they overlap. Also I prefer the editing in Snatch over Pulp. Idk, I think Pulp Fiction tries too hard to be serious sometimes, whereas Snatch strikes the perfect balance between comedy and gritty reality. The cinematic experience is gritty, almost raw, and throughout both movies, the characters, larger than life, the premise of the movies, larger than life, the diamond in Snatch, larger than life! The whole thing wrapped up with soooo many short sharp quotable lines. Written, and executed, beautifully.

I would love to see Stephen react to Útlaginn/Outlaw, a favourite of mine. It's an old Icelandic movie based closely on one of the viking sagas. It is no blockbuster and its age is showing and its all in old style icelandic but the story is great. The characters are just ordinary people, no superhuman stunts or anything, just families locked into the vicious cycle of revenge killing that was a prevailing problem in viking age society. I'd like to see his reaction to something historical is what I'm saying
First off, Snatch is my favorite Guy Ritchie movie. 2nd, Brad Pitt was very hard to understand when I saw the movie on the big screen. However, at home, I can hear everything just fine. I've seen Snatch probably 40 times. It's one of those movies that, when it's on, I stop and watch it no matter where it is in the movie. Guy lost his way for a few films, but, it seems like he may be back to himself again with his last couple.
Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by this guy's videos. I've seen a variety of RUclips channels that review movies, and more often than not, they're all kind of the same. Not this guy, however; felt like I was listening to a professor from the USC film department lol. I enjoyed your analysis of the characters, while also inserting some of your own personal experiences for added context. The video flowed very nicely; well done man!
Im 50 now but back in the day i used to hang around with some people that knew some people shall we say. and there was afew trips to see pikeys too. and i always remember the banter between everybody but at the same time you would get the moments when everyone is kinda having some banter but someone suddenly says the wrong thing or goes a step too far and it goes quiet as fcuk untill suddenly someone gets an hiding or several. ahh they were the days. sod that kind of background now id be on edge all the time now sod that.
Hey mate, just watched you for the first time and it was the snatch reaction. I also really enjoyed that movie and although I'm in Australia have many old friends over the years that could have been some of those characters. I think when you've been around a bit that if you're lucky enough to get a bit older you can see the humor in certain once very serious situations. You remind of some of my pommy mates and are the right man for this gig. I've subscribed and look forward to watching all your stuff. All the best and cheers from Australia.
I am excited for the fact and eagerly anticipating the growth of this channel, these videos of yours are absolutely fantastic. Terrifyingly accurate depictions of some of the characters, I half expected one lad to pull up his trouser leg to show you the tattoo on his calf.
Notice how Stephen's London accent seems to get stronger and stronger as the movie goes on. 😅
He feels right at home 😉☺
Soo many films I watch recently I'll wander off. Snatch was one of those "I gotta watch that again and work out what was going on".
Magnificent review from a man on the front line. Lock Stock and Snatch are without doubt my two favourite movies.
You seen ‘The gentlemen’ ? It’s like part 3
Probably top ten all time as far as fun to watch/rewatchability.
My only problem with this movie was the underuse of benicio del toro
You mean Frankie Fuckin’ Four Fingers.
@@ronnycollins9125 the very same.
You managed to articulate it better than me stephen. I agree with all you say.
I never watch react videos. I just couldn't resist giving this a watch. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks for taking the time to make this. Liked and sub'd...
Always great to hear your reviews! This film still stands even today. Fu**n excellent!
This RUclips channel is criminally underrated, no pun intended.
SOO many one liner’s it’s impossible to pick the best one !
My god father John Mann or “John boy” worked with many lads including the krays and Dave courtney etc I’ve been around a few lads and got to say guy Richie really hits the authenticity of real life old school villains brilliant
Yes, one of the best movies ever! The characters are so great. 😏👍 Thanks for sharing.
One of my favorite movies. Have watched it several times.
10:27 this is one of my favourite scenes in the whole movie, I just love Guy Ritchie and Vinnie Jones.
6:57, definitively Mr Guilen, this made Brad Pitt for me, what acting, jus awesomensss.
Love the way the pikey fight was a mirror of that classic Lenny McLean fight.
First time viewing your content and I must say that was an impressive commentary. Your perspective, knowledge and humor are all on point.
My all time favourite film, can watch it time and time again and never get bored
you're a rather great movie critic, I was only expecting you to cover the gangster stuff, good content!
Really enjoyed this as always! Would love to see you do Get Carter.
@@Wonky4925 but your in bad shape. With me it’s a full time job.
The Michael Caine version not the Sly Stallone remake...👍
Snatch was a comedy so it's hard to relate to real life. I love that movie and own it on Amazon.
Thanks for letting us know, well put in tomorrows newspaper.

Vinny Jones does a good job because he's a bit of a gangster himself...
...and he plays a little football...😆
I’m not a Brad fan but he is fabulous in this. Brilliant.
first time ive heard "travelling community" to describe the gipsies. i like it.
You're laugh is a special thing mate, every time I hear it I start cracking up myself 😂 class vid 👌
Marvellous reaction to a spectacular film. I Recommend Gangster No1.
And the boys get a pair of those shoes. 🤣
I am excited for the fact and eagerly anticipating the growth of this channel, these videos of yours are absolutely fantastic.
Entertaining as hell and extremely informative and interesting, and even better well told, you've got a gift for story telling.
So glad i found this, i can't wait for the engagement to grow because it's deserved and i am in too deep haha.
The gentlemen is another incredible Guy Ritchie film
Any plans to do The Gentleman or We still kill the old way/We still steal the old way. Would be good to see your thoughts on any of those
