Ivan Williams You’re right, there is more to that song. I Am a God is wrapped in multiple layers of irony.
Kanye calls himself a god, but he keeps telling other people to do things and they don’t even listen. Would a GOD have to wait for croissants? Of course they wouldn’t.
That’s why Kanye collapses into screaming his lungs off by the end of the track. He realizes that he’s trapped by the nature of his elevated status as a ‘God’. Which is why on the next song, New Slaves, he tries to relate to the everyday black man, before failing and going on to the depressed state of that album for the next few tracks.
Yeezus is so damn underrated, that album has such a well-executed Narrative.

For all of you saying "this is the GOOD Kanye" I feel I need to educate you. Kanye has been the same dude since day one. The man has been shaking hip hop at its core since his entry to the game.
Kanye has been raunchy on every album, touched on religion on every album, (from Jesus Walks, which I'm sure you all were comfortable with despite his explicit content on the record to I Am A God) been singing on every album (from Spaceship and Hey Mama to Blood on the Leaves), sampled amazing music on every album (from Shaka Khan to Daft Punk) and always expressed his heart in his art and words (from George Bush to Taylor to shit you're reading on HipHopDX right now)
If you're not feeling Ye's shit that's cool a lot of people don't but the sellout comments are just silly and prove that you're either not a true fan of Yeezy or too blinded by your own preferences to understand what a sellout even is. A sellout is not someone who stops making the music you like, a sellout is someone who makes the music you like because you like it and knows his music and shows will "sell out" to the masses.
Kanye says fuck radio and now he's a sellout. Rap fans, I tell ya.
