      @ahorton6786 the tiles really set it off and 18 months later they are still looking as new. 💪😎

      That's exactly what I did...surprised by how well the old pond vacs work! 👌👍

      @BrizzleKoi makes it so easy when you have a crystal clear pond and you can't beat the old vacs lol

    Hi/ Looking good, I would drain the pond to get the mortar out. And to be safe, I would get a Jebao 100/120 air pump. The 120 is only 70 watts and it is Quiet and powerful.

    Tiling looks great bud done a fantastic job I can't suggest the best way to get the cement out but personally I'd use a pond vac 👍

    nice update cracking job on the tiles mate 👍👍and the barrel system looks good and will work a treat i use a jecod pa60 air pump which runs the moving bed and bottom drain at the same time been running flawless

    The tiling looks great, I am also building a three barrel system and extending the pond in spring. You could add jump guards on the pond I've used 8mm Perspex about 300 high ,that will also stop the dog drinking the water which might be a good idea if you've added any chemicals to the water for fish health. You will need to get the cement out of the pond it will bugger up your PH.

    Yeah, you need to get that cement / mortar out the pond mate. Personally I’d be draining it, cleaning it, and refilling it, but I’m fortunate not to be on a water meter etc.

    As a non Koi keeper I think this looks a fantastic installation. Could I just suggest that you insulate the filter house.

    • @BrizzleKoi
      @BrizzleKoi  Год назад +1

      Hi Paul. I'm contemplating either moving the shed closer to the pond or building a filter house. Whichever I choose I will insulate. Main problem I've got is all my garden tools don't fit in the shed now. Not sure how long before the wife leaves me if the lawn mower doesn't move from our porch

    Hi mate your tileing look really great. I learn something from you. About the tiles over the skimmer why don't you set it up in a way that it look like a hold tile but easy to remove when you want to do something to the skimmer.

    Great update. Go careful with tall, thin ornaments on the edge of the pond! A big gust of wind, and you'll be fishing it out! I've been there 🤣

    • @BrizzleKoi

      Haha yeh I've nearly knocked her in a few times. I had to build a cover for the pond yesterday 😒. Totally spoilt the look of the pond but until I build a pergola and my kids learn to swim , it's got to be covered.

    • @danmaclellan4149
      @danmaclellan4149 Год назад

      @joshowen9331 Yeah, covers are a must. My youngest is 18 months, so he will be exploring this summer, I have a wood frame and perspex on the top, and I do the job well, but it is ugly as hell. What part of Bristol are you in? I'm in the south.

    • @BrizzleKoi

      @Dan Maclellan Mine are 3 and 6 and both fascinated with water. I was thinking about getting some polycarbonate sheets for next winter. Ahhh Bristol brother... North Bristol I am...Downend. I'll try find you on FB

      @joshowen9331 Ah yes, my middle child was a nightmare for pulling chairs around to try and get up to see the fish. Luckily, he is 7 now and has grown out of that.
      Yeah, please do. I'm always up for pond chat!

    Only crique is i would have spent the extra few bucks on the proper tile corners so you dont have to use plastic covers.

    • @BrizzleKoi
      @BrizzleKoi  Год назад +1

      I couldn't find any decent cornering for the split face tiles. They aren't smooth and all the tile edging I found just didn't sit right with the tiles...seems they are best suited for flat tiles. Mind...I didn't look very hard. The cornering I've gone for is aluminium. I was sceptical at first but once fitted I really like the look. I noticed a few others that have used these tiles have done the same. Happy ponding mate
