That was a smashing little video, nothing wrong with a bit of how you did it DIY. I have even followed your idea of using brushes in the first barrel of the filter, works great and easy to clean.
Good video. Nothing complicated. Easy to understand and practical installation techniques. Jobs a good un. Thinking of putting a retro-bottom drain in the autumn when the fish are a bit less active. Cheers for the video.
The vertical pipe from the pump up to the 40mm solvent weld pipe is the oase 50mm flexi pipe. I'm tempted to replace the flexi pipe with rigid pipe in future 😎😎
Hello! Enjoyed your video! Do have a quick question. What happened to the air bubbles after the drain was finished? I must have missed something. Thank you
So I have not got the solid pipe but just some clear hosing and for some reasons unknown to man or beast, mine keeps slowing to a trickle. I think it's the vacuum issue. All I can think issue to upgrade to ribbed black pipe so it holds form. Didn't use to be a problem for my filter on its own?
@hazzardoutdoors could be the clear pipe being squeezed...solid pipe is definitely the way to go. The solid pipe and bends pretty cheep from screwfix. Is your pump definitely working correctly and not blocked? Process of elimination..work your way through everything
How do you find the bottom drains buddy im tempted by them but il need 2 as im 5m x 3m i spoke about 5 months ago and younsaid was working well what pump you pulling 10k or 20k
@leeoliver4063 Hi Lee, yes the retro fit bottom drain is still working perfectly. Can't fault it what so ever! I've been feeding quite heavy over the last 3 months and I never see any fish waste on the bottom of the pond.
I use a evolution aqua 20000 vari pump set at 6000 L/H. Sucks all the crap up effortlessly. Pulled the pump put twice in the last twelve months to inspect and clean and other than a small amount of biofilm build up it's been spotless. I probably should have bought the evolution aqua 10000 as I don't use the 20000 to it full potential ever. Thanks for watching and happy ponding dude 😎
Extremely well! I had lots of people comment on my pond build saying that I should have fitted a proper bottom drain. But im more than happy with my retro fit bottom drain and my water clarity is superb.

Thanks David. Agreed....the brushes do a fantastic job and I can clean all 6 with the hose is less than 5 minutes. 🔥👌👌

@user-jk6ko5yy2n Thanks John. I've had no dramas with it since installing and it's keeping the bottom of my pond spotless. Take it easy mate 👍

Hello! Enjoyed your video! Do have a quick question. What happened to the air bubbles after the drain was finished? I must have missed something. Thank you
Hi 👋👋. I put the air line onto a 6" flat air stone and dropped in in the pond. You can find them at most aquatic shops.

@@BrizzleKoi so the pump works fine everytime I disconnect the bottom drain.
@@BrizzleKoi and it should be well up to it. 5000l pond, 10k pump. Worked fine before adding the drain.
@@hazzardoutdoors gotta be that pipe!
Hi mate the retro fit bottom drain you fitted is it areator one? Is the dome perforated or is it just a air pipe around it? Thanks
No...my one is the version with no aeration. I have a separate air stone thrown in the pond. 💪💪👌👌

@@BrizzleKoi is it a 10k pump youve got on it and do you have just the 1 🙂
@leeoliver4063 just got the one bottom drain. Pond is 3m x 1.5m. I use a EA 20000 vari pump but run it at 7000L/H
what pump do you use? any issues passing fish waste through it?

Did or do the retro drains work well im debating 2 of them

@@BrizzleKoi il poss need 2 on mine 5m x 3m but think its a go
Nice vid but I you must be kicking yourself you didn’t put a bottom drain in
Yep...thinking about putting one in next year.
