I'm so glad that you noticed that there was a part missing, the bore of the machine would have made my eyes water with a suppository that size when it was inserted
Having lived in France for a number of years I was intrigued by the number of common medicines available in suppository form. Both over-the-counter & prescription drugs! My ex-(French)-wife was partial to a common cold remedy so delivered ... Those things were rotund! Oh well, different strokes for different folks.
There was a time when every pharmacist would have had one of these. Cheap disposable hypodermic needles are a fairly recent innovation; in the old days a lot of drugs (and nutrients, and even liquids) were given rectally to patients who for whatever reason couldn't swallow, especially if they were being cared for at home. A home carer could be taught how to give injections, but they likely wouldn’t have the equipment necessary to properly clean and sanitize reusable hypodermic needles.
One of my favorite things about this channel is when they switch between Old Hands Guy and Young Hands Guy. Father and son? Master and apprentice? Whatever their relationship, it's always fun for me when the hands switch.
For a while I thought I was going nuts. I distinctly remembered seeing two people but then when I tried to look for it in the videos it was the same one. Made me question if I was seeing things or if there were actually two different people.
@@knarp7063 One year late, but if you watch older videos, the Old Hands Guy (the owner of the channel) was teaching his son how to use some of the machinery, so it's probably his son.
A suppository is a dosage form used to deliver medications by insertion into a body orifice where it dissolves or melts to exert local or systemic effects. There are three types of suppositories, each to insert into a different sections: rectal suppositories into the rectum, vaginal suppositories into the vagina, and urethral suppositories into the urethra of a male. Just in case anyone was wondering.

Honestly, on top of being extremely relaxing, this channel is also fairly educational. I've really enjoyed seeing how things were manufactured pre-computerized automation. Every time I think, "Last one for the night", I get recommended another interesting thing you've restored! Really great content, loved this restoration. I think Avril approves too. :)
After seeing you make your own set screw from a bolt makes me wonder how I never thought to do that in a pinch. It's so simple and obvious after seeing it done. I'm going to tuck that technique away for later. Thanks
I enjoy watching folks who restore tools use them after they've been restored - like how you guys restored that sharpening wheel and I've seen it since whenever you're restoring something that needs to be sharpened. I dread seeing this one used in action in future videos.
As a compounding pharmacy technician, it’s always interesting to see how technology has changed! Considering we make 1000 suppositories every other week, I’m glad we don’t do it this way anymore!
_Suppository Making Machine_ - You can imagine LADB walking into the local salvage yard, seeing that and saying "Oh, Got To Have That !" I did wonder and perhaps was a little concerned, that the suppository this device churned out, did appear awfully large for human applicaton. 10:32 Beautifully made and restored. An instrument I'd never have contemplated as subject matter.
I was so antediluvian. I used to go to the pharmacy if I needed suppositories. but thanks to your inspirational video I've decided to make my own. the future of medical supply is regional.
Not too dull. Not to shiny. Just right!👌 Also this next item you've restored took me by surprise! It's when people search what the word 'Suppository' means that raises an eyebrow. Anyways, keep up the good work on turning forgotten relics into art!
Quelle machinerie pour des suppos, j'étais impatient de voir comment vous alliez faire. Je connais les moules à suppos actuels, mais la c'est une belle prise de tête pour les faire ^^ Merci pour vos vidéos!
LISTEN. I’m no restoration expert, but the fact that you MADE those set screws just blew me away. You, Sir, Lord, King, or whatever they call you in your kingdom, ARE AWESOME. Thank you.
Everyone must have a "catspecotor" to make sure the job is done correctly. Great job!! Give Avril some treats from me. Does this mean you're going to be making your own suppositories from now on?
Oh my goodness, where on earth does one find a suppository machine! lol. Another wonderful restoration. Thank you for your hard work in making things useful again.
Otra restauración tremenda! La confección de piezas magnífica y la calidad de la mano de obra es profesional. Siempre es un placer mirar este canal, por eso estoy suscrito. Hasta la próxima.
I bet this is the only place on the internet where you can find this! Not complaining at all. Still a really cool mechanical tool that someone made long ago, that needed some help.
You always find the weirdest machines and tools, I had no idea what this one was doing at all...even as you showed the missing part I was thinking it was for pressing powder to pills... 🤣👍👍👍
Top notch craftsmanship as always! I too have 5 "supervisors" ;-). Love the videos but I get anxious if I don't see Avril within the first 30 seconds. 🙂
I was a pharmacy technician for 7 years before I became an antique tool nerd. Instalike this. We only made them a few times, but we used a manual process. I really want to find one of these now.
Very nice restoration. Great job replacing missing/broken parts. Also glad to see that Avril is still on the job as technical advisor and finished work inspector. Be hard to work without help. LOL Keep up the good work!
I may be late watching this but thats Cool. You took an old rusted Tool Press an, cleaned it up it is now I'm going to go out on a limb here as it's better looking now than it most likely was when it was new. Thank you for sharing your Wonderful Passion for us. Ready for more. Merry Christmas an a Blessed New,Year.
I love all your videos and enjoy them over and over again. The objects you restore are works of art that have come to life. There are many things I want to decorate my room with. How did you acquire advanced technique and artistry? I also love seeing your pet cat. We would like to express our gratitude from Japan.
You, sir, are a consummate professional machinist! I hope I’m not misnaming your profession! It’s a joy to watch you bring the impossible back to life! Nice job! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
Great result! Nice finish. Question: Shouldn't you have altered the drilbit, used to create the 10mm holes to have a more dome (round) shape tip at the top of the suppositories?
Okay, a great restoration - it’s what we expect. 15:03 and thereabouts… that is the love of a cat right there. No video likes can match how much Avril loves you.

Good question because they normally tell you how old it's and I like the very old technology that they restore like the blacksmith drill press or the corn shucker

I blindly clicked on this video without even knowing what it's going to be about and 5 minutes in, it's a suppository maker; which was quite the surprise there HAHAHA. Anyways, Best restore channel on YT, I think. Reasons being: it's always cleanly edited, you dont sit on the same part just fast forwarding through it (which looks sloppy) and the cat "Avril", which is always a nice touch. The way your videos move from each part and scene , just seems the logical choice. It all flows perfectly.

What kinds of medicines need to be given as suppositories?
