Mazda US report a 0-60mph time of 6.1 seconds. Real world tests in videos on RUclips seem to achieve close to that (most around 6.3 seconds). I have no idea why Australian 0-100 kmph times are so much worse. The CX-5 does have different tunes for regular and premium fuel resulting in more power and torque with premium (170kw vs 190kw translating from the US horsepower figures). The lower power tune as a result of regular fuel could be at play in this test.

Mushy Suspension!? In Sep.22 I test drove the GT SP and appreciated the stiffer suspension all the reviews talk about. Coming from a Subaru it was a big deciding factor for me. Just picked up my 2022 Akera (built Oct.22) and have put 600km touring on it in 2 days. Have they changed the suspension or is the Akera tuned differently to the GT...for 75 year-olds (no ageism intended)? @@PDriveTV i believe it has the same engine specs, cx5 made in hiroshima factory in japan. Different suspension tune, probably, but not the engine. Hv you watched the redline review? There is no "rollout", it was from standing still. Also 0.344km makes 1.2seconds different when the car already moving, i doubt it.
Highly likely due to fuel quality here.

Why is the shifting at 5000 rpm?

    • @PDriveTV

Peak power is reached at 5000rpm. We tried manual shifting during Vbox testing, letting the engine rev to around 5700rpm between shifts. It was slower.

That 0-100km/h is pretty underwhelming considering that a FWD base model with the non-turbo version of that 2.5 engine can do it in 7.7 secs.

Consider the octane rating Ivan. They may not have used the premium fuel here. Mazda clearly states a nice power gain going to 93 octane.

Mazda's diesels 2012 to 2018 were problematic if not driven in freeways regularly(to burn of DPF) . Mazda had been replacing these engines even out of warranty though . Unless you do illegal modification like retune with chips etc.
