I’ve visited Konokono before. My stay and every person who worked there was delightful. The property is beautiful. As for Xanadu, I would not spend one cent there because of how their management treated you. Let them get it from their target market. I will remember that very well if I am fortunate enough to return to Zanzibar.

There are no 6 star resorts in Zanzibar. It’s unfortunate about Xanadu, it had been on my list of recommendations to my clients but I am taking it off the list now.
Why would I give my money to or promote a hotel whose I’m not on their target market? Especially a company in Africa who are not also targeting Africans.

I live in Zanzibar and Im horrified that Xanadu would say they only work with European influencers and not African ones.. It's blatant RACISM!! I would NEVER give them the time of day after hearing that..(not to mention, ridiculously over priced) Nice video though and kudos for staying humble x

The way in which this video was put together is outstanding! Again Steve has done an excellent job. I would never give the Xanadu villas my time or money. I am in the U.S. and find it distasteful that they are in Africa, and cater to only advertising to European or other non-African foreign clients. Africa is a big continent and there are various people in Africa that can enjoy these amenities as well. I guess they are not only selling luxury, but also projecting luxurious western snobbish values. Sheesh Xanadu.. .... I mean show your home team or home base some love why don't you? Meaning Africa. Zanzibar is stunning. Zuri and Xanadu are exquisite. Xanadu loses points for their lacklustre reception. The mentality that (White) Europeans/Americans are the only leisure tourists must fall. It's simply not true. We can't have such Colonial attitudes in 2023.
Interesting that Xanadu Villas only work with European content creators because black or African travellers are not their target market. OK is that because they think that black or African travellers can't afford to stay at their property? Anyway, I hope black or African travellers who CAN afford to pay those prices will take their money and business elsewhere since they are not the "target market". Go where you are welcomed and not where you are tolerated.
FACTS KING!!! Absolute facts. Do you know in the top 4 countries that Kenya receives visitors from, two are African (Tanzania and Uganda). And Kenya recently announced it would be doing more targeted campaigns in other African countries such as Ethiopia and Rwanda. A country that appreciates its homegrown African market. Yet a (probably foreign-owned) entity has the audacity to exclude Black Africans in their own motherland. What if Steven had been a Zanzibari content creator? Would they still exclude that person in their own land? Crazy but at least we now know where NOT to go!

You're a better person than I am because I wouldn't have included them in this video. Definitely will steer clear of that establishment when I go later this year.
