Large Truck leaf spring Crossbow

Home made truck leaf spring Crossbow for a engineering project. This thing scares me every time we shoot it! It was set up originally for racquet balls, but now small rocks work well. In the future will make it capable of larger rocks :)

Those leaf springs also have the same strength as your plates you put in your plate carrier so if you need to make a bulletproof plate cut , overlap and weld your leaf sprongs from inside and you have a bulletproof plate

It's literally the same metal that they use to make bullet proof plates , and how do I know this because I ordered a plate from a well known self protection site i tested the metal then looked up the numbers printed on an angle on it did a cross reference to other things in the industry that uses the same metal and it said leaf springs

Bow and arrows can be used as a Silent deadly weapon in warfare . Know one will ever know how deadly they can be . I think they can also be greatly improved up on for modern warfair of today standards . Instead of arrows or darts as the thrown object it may also be modified to fire even smaller objects like a riffle bullet or a small guided missile . The missile will not fire off until it reaches maximum altitude . Then it will go to it's target .

What would the advantage be to throwing a bullet or missile? The only reason bullets have the velocity they have is because of the enclosed space they are detonated in. A bullet that is detonated outside of the barrel has surprisingly little velocity. A system for a missile pre-launch already exists in the weapon platform called the Javelin. The javelin platform shoots the missile out a predetermined distance then the missile fires propelling the missile to the target. Ballistae are deadly weapons even to this day but unfortunately they aren’t nearly as versatile as modern firearms and explosive ordnance. Basically anything an arrow can do a bullet can do better. Except perhaps “stealth”. A subsonic bullet fired from a gun with a suppressor could give it a run for its money though.

A cast load, subsonic .308 round will shit on a ballista in terms of performance.

@@jonathanfairchild heavy crossbows have higher penetrating power than most guns, obviously an anti material rifle will do better but a crossbow like this one in the video could easily throw some rebar through a foot on concrete
