How to spot wind gusts on the water

HEre we were in The Bight, Norman Island the BVI and the wind gusts were coming through one after the other. We snapped some great footage and use it to show new sailors how to spot a gust coming at you on the water via a discoloration in the water color. Usually it is a darker color that is moving across the water. But don't mistake that for a shadow from a cloud.

Probably a mix of meteorology, oceanography, and lots of on-the-water experience. Programs in environmental science, marine science, or atmospheric science might help
