- The Bricklink Designer Program Series 3 has some great new designs, including The Art of Chocolate. This is my review of what's sure to be a sellout during crowdfunding. There's plenty to like about teh set, but there are some shortcomings that I address in the review. Let me know what you think and if you'll be purchasing any of the BDP series 3 sets. .

Hi Alex, I'm Marcos, The designer of The Art of Chocolate. Thank you very much for your review of the set, very complete and detailed. I really apreciate all your comments on it and I'm glad you've chosen it as your favorite from this Series! I would like to thank here the Bricklink Designer Team for all the effort and soul they put on making this project as a final product. Keep up your great channel Alex.
I really like how you put the front parts of the building at angles and how you did the rounded roof.
brickester, I'm a huge fan of your work. You are one of the best, if not the best, 'fan designers' out there, and I'm so gutted your Art Center didn't get picked last round. It's frustrating that TLG have banned modulars for the next round (I do hope they change their mind for subsequent rounds), but I still really want to bulld that Art Center, so I hope you're able to put the instructions on Rebrickable or get it out there some other way. Best of luck, and I really look forward to getting this set, although I realise it will sell out very quickly next week.
Have to congratulate and thank you at the same time for putting this set together. Absolutely stunning. My only fear is that this will be my first time trying to buy a (/your) set of the BDP. And I don't know if I'll get through in time. Hoping that I'll be able to find and press the right buttons so hopefully I can add this set to the collection.
@@GregOrCreg Oh! Thank you so much Greg, you've made my day! About The Art Factory, please wait for the next week, you'll find news about it on my social media.
Stellar model! You and the other designers for series 3 have made it very hard to choose which ones I should buy 😅. I have no doubt this will sell out very quickly!
best set on Brick link designer program 3.
...with Harbour Master, much better bang for your buck, will sell very fast I guess
@@wile.e.coyote7666 so how is sell very fast doing :D
This set should contain a small-ish cute lorry (somewhat going with the building's aesthetics) that would be there to distribute the finished chocolates. It would be waiting there just outside the rear/side door to get loaded with a delivery. 🙂
Wow, Alex! You got the best of the lot.
I love your professional yet genuine reviews. I’ve definitely seen improvement in your reviews over the last year and a half I’ve been watching.
Also you asked me in the bricking news podcast about my BDP submission. You’ll have to wait, I wasn’t happy with it so decided to keep working on it for the next series.
Great review! the AoC is a great looking design and one I am logging onto get on the 8th plus the camper. I really like the Harbor master but it down't really fit any of my sets but I hope it too makes it! Thanks for the great review!
I really like the camping adventure. I’m going to buy that one on the 8th. It is more affordable and as relatable as Art of Chocolate but I have space for the smaller set-at least I think I do. (I eat chocolate while camping.) I’m not too keen on online instructions as I’m an older AFOL but I reckon I can tolerate it for a small set. Thank you for your thorough review. It is a stunning set. Living in Alberta I do appreciate winter sets as winter seems endless at times. Enjoy your newest addition to your collection.
Glad you clarified that it’s chocolate in the sink. Lol 😂 Thanks for another awesome review! If I have to pick one only, it’d be Harbormaster’s Office.
6:39 I think I heard Mindy's eyes roll from here.
Art of Chocky, Harbour Office, are definite buys. Not sure about anything else.
Great Review! This is definitely a Heater LEGO Set!
Hoping to order The Art of Chocolate. I will also try for the Camping Adventure…think it would display well with my Old Fishing Store and the Snack Shack.🇨🇦
Great review as usual. My favorite is the castle and the harbor one. I was going to skip this one but since you said it would fit great in the holiday themed sets, I will get one. Great thought Alex.
Great thought? You didn´t spot that yourself?
I like that one. Nice review Alex.
I ended up preordering the art of chocolate. I loved every detail of it. Thanks for the reviewing it.
Well I didn't want but now...
Probably not but definitely want the camping adventure. Next series I want both castle sets 😵💫
I think this is an amazing set. Very nice design. And, well, I love chocolate. Who doesn't! Like you, Alex, I wish it was modular rather than dollhouse style opening--just for the visibility factor. I wish it was a Lego Ideas set. I think it would have sold well. But I don't buy the Bricklink sets because of the long wait to receive it and the crazy queueing up to purchase. Too bad they limit the numbers on these. Excited to see this review though. Thanks.
My favorite parts of this are the rounded roof and the angles at the front. It's tempting to buy this as the color scheme coordinates well with the BDP Winter Chalet from a couple years ago and maybe it could be a competitor to the upcoming Willy Wonka LEGO Ideas set! But I'm already mentally committed to the Forest Stronghold and the Lost City plus 2 sets in series 5. It's just a matter of whether or not I give in to FOMO.
I LOVE this set!! Are we limited to 2 copies per design, or two copies total per household? I want 2 of these and 2 of the Harbour masters office to have for me and gift the other.
You can get two of each. Good choices!
Awesome review! I showed this vid to my wife and now she more than ever wants me to grab this set for her to add to her winter village. The set I’m most likely picking up is the Forest Stronghold to add to my medieval collection (Mountain Fortress, Lion’s Knight Castle, Medieval Town Square). I’m on the fence with the Harbormaster’s Office (I don’t know if my wallet will allow me especially with me grabbing the other 2 sets in this series). I hear you on missing out on previous BDP sets I really wanted the Castle in the Forest set but that thing sold out so quick and the amount they had available was lower than it is now. I was lucky to be able to grab the LEGO store, Great Fishing Boat, Mountain Windmill, Venetian Houses, and the Winter Chalet. What were the sets that you wanted but missed out on?
This one is my favorite to. And I ordered one 😃👍
I have my set ordered. Can’t wait.
Hi Alex I will getting 3 The art of chocolate, Harbour masters office and the Caravan great honest review.
I love this design and hoping I'll be able to secure one. This is the only set I'm after.
Cet ensemble est le meilleur de la série 3, avec aussi Forest Stronghold. Plus qu'à attendre mars 2025 et il fera un magnifique ajout au Winter village 😉😉
Question will this go in the city or will it go on your shelf?
This will likely be a display set for me.
Thank you for the review. I've decided not to buy this set, although I do appreciate its design and presentation. There are a whole lot of sets I'd like but this one is just a little too far down the list. I do agree that it'll sell out fairly fast, but I am not gonna let the FOMO get to me 😄
Alex, I'm sorry you missed out on BDP sets in the past. Do you mind saying which ones?
I missed a lot that I would love to get. Here they are...Great Fishing Boat, Modular LEGO Store, Mountain View Observatory, and Studgate Train Station. They're all from the 2021 invitational so are very limited in their production.
@@alexnunes Thanks for letting me know! Seems like you got the sets I'd consider among the best though.
The ones I regret missing out on are the Construction Site (with the skyscraper) and the 50s Diner, from the same round. There was a bit of a mess-up with the process, and for whatever reason my orders for both ended up getting cancelled. It's partly why the whole BDP process tends to give me such anxiety. Even in the last round, I ended up purchasing *two* Brick Cross Stations, *one* of which I now plan to sell, most likely via eBay, because it initially appeared that my first purchase had been unsuccessful (and I really didn't want to miss out on that set).
This wave of sets all look great, but it's an expensive wave. Most waves are expensive even with a smaller set.
I did back the mushroom house in wave 2 for my first time with the BDP, and I will skip this wave and fore for the mushroom village to come out next year which is normally above my price point comfort zone with Lego.
I can smell the chocolate! 😊
One of the rare times when Alex wears a plain shirt. The light grey almost blends with the UCS sets behind him 😂. Interesting review. I was on the fence on this, and I’m not getting for free from the Lego group 😢. This review has helped me make up my mind NOT to buy this.
I love this set, but I just can’t get over not having physical instructions. It completely ruins the build experience IMO and is the reason I won’t be purchasing any more bricklink sets until it’s changed (if ever). I would happily pay another $20 or something for physical instructions on these sets
It's a very nice build, but I'll pass in favour of the harbourmaster office and the camper.
Where the mouse gone?...Did they remove the mouse/rat that was hiding behind the huge vat, "Get that Rat outa here!" you said, and they did.
Have to skip this one. I have no "SPACE!" It looks like it would go well with the Christmas sets, but I don't have any of those.
First
As someone who loves chocolate, I love this set, but unfortunately its above my budget
On time for me would be 5:00 AM! Not for me! I think I’ll skip the series as usual for me.
5:56 - Once you remove the machine therefrom, the back of the room (or is it actually its front?) looks ugly, with all those exposed building techniques (I personally call them "guts").
This would almost certainly not fly in an official Lego set of such a kind.
