It's mind blowing listening to this guy talk about these people, "My Uncle", etc. in first person..
His father is my hero. Has been for years. This would be a different country if he had been President.
Amen!
Very true
The Kennedy family has plenty of skeletons in their Martha's Vineyard closets. Deep connections with organized crime and corruption. Hopefully RFK Jr is different.
Amen 2dem apples 🍎 🙌‼️
It would have been a much better world today if RFK was President. Plus we wouldn’t be in the mess we are in with China, thanks to Nixon the pos. I think the Kennedy’s were the last democrats that loved America
RFK and LBJ just didn't dislike each other; they hated each other.
And RFK, Jr.’s assessment of LBJ was correct. LBJ was the worst President the US has ever had.

@@ilikegreens4324 of course, I could Overlook The Voice also, I am just speaking of all of America
Or snarky to add, as well.
When JFK was killed, LBJ called RFK up and asked him to read the oath of office to him over the phone "for the correct wording," when it could have been found in any copy of the constitution. LBJ did that as a dominance play over RFK.
Bobby Kennedy was a child compared to LBJ. That's why he disliked Johnson. Johnson worked his way up. Bobby was basically appointed. Everyone knew it
@@newyardleysinclair9960 not wrong
No, LBJ also called IKE for help on the public statement he made at the airport.
@08jag81 these things don't contradict
In this interview RFK jr seems to be moving away from LBJ/CIA were part of a plot, which is a myth of US history.
LBJ was literally the kind of guy who would leave the bathroom door open while taking a sh!t and insist on maintaining eye contact and continuing the discussion the entire time.
This is one instance where I definitely hope that someone isn’t projecting when they say something…

Right. He brought up the fake conspiracy theory about the parties "switching" near the end of the clip. It's funny that people actually believe that.

Not too surprising, Maher using his breathtaking ignorance to attempt slight of hand.
It works like a charm on his applauding trained seals Fridays at 10 o'clock...
He’s myopic, can’t see beyond his nose, and is wholly uneducated, and smug about himself.
Sounds like he understands the south of the 1960s pretty well.
What's there to understand just grits and bigots.
Wonder if RFK Jr. has seen the image of smiling LBJ looking back at Texas Congressman Albert R. Thomas giving him a wink during his swearing in
next to despondent Jackie. Its called The wink of the Century.
Sure he has.😉
No official historian has ever gave validity to it. Only conspiracy theorist. Do you really think LBJ is going to wink at another person with people and cameras everywhere? In the same picutre is Lady Bird really smiling?
That was actually a wink back. Johnson had winked at Thomas when Kennedy was still alive at the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. There's not a photo of that too, but it is on video.

I’m a right leaning guy who despises Democrats and has never once ever voted for a Democrat. The first election where I was old enough to vote was 1988, so I’ve been voting Republican for decades. Anyway, I’m absolutely shocked how much I like and respect RFK Jr. I would be proud to call him my President. I still can’t believe I like a guy with a D beside his name.
Why do you "despise" Democrats? They're just people who don't share your political views... but they love their children and wish for only the best for one and all... same as you, I would guess.
@@Elphaba1952 For starters, Democrats advocate mutlilating and indoctrinating children. I find that quite evil. They also are very lenient on crime, especially crime perpetrated by minorities, because they feel guilty, I guess? I find that quite evil, too.

RFK Jr fits in Well with the Republican Party with his Anti Vax Credentials. 🤪
I was 9 years old when JFK was assassinated. I remember many images, but one that stands out is LBJ standing in the back of Air Force One with his hand on the Bible and his right hand held up. He had his obligatory long face (when didn't he?) while standing next to the widow of the man that he most likely had intimate knowledge of all the details of how it happened. When Oswald was shot by Ruby on live television and that Ruby had terminal cancer, my Dad immediately said, "The whole thing is a setup!!" The media was relentless in sticking to the narrative (sound familiar?), but every single American that had any sense knew what it really was.
I was 9, too. It was a psychological turning point for me. I have never trusted this country, from that day to now.
And in almost 60 years, there is not one (1) solid piece of evidence to support a conspiracy/setup/coup -whatever you call it, because there was none. Didn't happen. Oswald acted alone, and if you're a critical thinker that's looked at the evidence, you'd have to agree.
Here's the thing about conspiracy or a coup: They usually get found out. Someone spills the beans.
I was 8. LBJ used to go to my family reunions. (My Great grandparents, in central Texas.). He disgusted me, and was an embarrassment. That said it was HE who pushed for equality for Black folks. The Kennedy's get way too much credit. That said I had read "PT 109" as a 4 or 5 year old and was in love with him. My Mother was too. My Dad was an Air Force officer and they were on lock down for awhile. They thought the Soviets did it. Now we know better. Kill the CIA and most of the other 3 letter agencies. And kill the Fed. JFK was right about everything and he LOVED this country. I miss him.
@@margaretlouiseable i was 6 years-old in Dallas (my Dad was an editorial writer for the Dallas Morning News and my running buddy---we talked politics, so I had an unusual perspective for a first grader). It’s amazing how Bill just won’t catch onto the fact that he has no idea what he’s talking about.
I think he’s a few years behind at least getting the basic facts straight. Like how he only recently went after the woke, after the woke shredded what our future could have had for self grandiose virtue signaling. Or how badly he wanted Trump out that he wished us all to go through a bad economy, again.
Bill is wrong about How the South became GOP red but still an interesting listen here
I wish Bill would stop interrupting Mr Kennedy. To better hear Mr Kennedy, it’s just out of respect. Let Him finish what He has to say.
I never in all my dreams thought this kinda TV was possible in America in 2023. Kudos to everyone involved.

I'm NOT an admirer of LBJ for a lot of reasons, however from a purely tactical standpoint RFK and JFK treated Johnson with humiliating contempt always joking about Johnson being a stupid hillbilly because they were Ivy League snobs and their trash talking got back to him. People forget that whatever moral failings LBJ had, he was one of the most skilled political operatives in DC and they hurt their cause by denigrating him.
Still was a prick
Yes a lot of people seem perplexed to outraged that Johnson resented the Kennedys and never seem to consider if it was provoked and or/mutual (or somehow even that if it was provoked or mutual that doesn't matter).
I agree. LBJ was not the kind of person to treat badly. Kennedys showed him no respect and he did not like it. Kennedy did not like him, but his advisors told him he needed Texas to will in 1960 and they were right.
Well it was clearly a joke. Obviously anyone that leads the free world isn’t a dumb hick. That’d be like calling a pro bodybuilder a fatass. It’s obviously just joking
The Johnson's were dirty...Lady Bird was the 1 stockholder of Bell helicopters and Sea Land, her companies literally made everything for the Vietnam war, they made millions sending those kids to die in that jungle
Rude to smoke right in front of RFK jr.
When the media decides to try and censor a person, I quickly decide to research that person myself. I was anti Covid shot from the beginning because I am skeptical of all mainstream media and our government. I am impressed by Robert Kennedy, Jr. The democrats will “Bernie Sanders” him.

The democrats ARE "Bernie Sander'sing" him.
It's already happening...
Or Tulsi Gabbard him. I also see a distinct possibility they may try to off the guy. They will never let him become POTUS. His main rival will be Gavin Newson, who I suspect will be "installed" at the White House.
Unfortunately he also believes in heavy affirmative action which has been the downfall of America for over 50 years
As they should. Jr is a conspiracy nut case. Even his own voice box has revolted over the shit he says.
Robert has a bigger spine than Bernie. Bernie needs a government job. Kennedy does not.
I always found it odd that Bobby got the bad news about his brother from Hoover, and not from Jackie or Kenny O'Donnell or even Johnson.
@@scottystcloud7086 I wouldn't say it's the country that is bad but those in power, money and in the government. The government is not for the people, not anymore.
Hoover thoroughly enjoyed placing that call.
LBJ lost the solid Democratic South because of his success in passing profound civil rights legislation. JFK was interested I'm passing civil rights legislation but lack the political power in the Senate to do it. Lyndon Johnson had been the master of the Senate. JFK was the Master of the profile, not the skill.
Yeah, LBJ and JFK had worked together to stall and water down the Civil Rights Act of 1960 (which, like the Civil Rights Act of 1957 -- and every other civil rights legislation in US history before it -- had been Republican legislation) in the Senate, aiding the southern segregationists. Once president, JFK talked about civil rights but never did anything to expend his political capital to actually DO anything for civil rights. It was LBJ , a man who ironically started his Senate career speaking out AGAINST anti-lynching legislation and had spent his years in the Senate supporting his fellow southern Democratic segregationists, who actually flipped the party on civil rights, dragging the national Democratic party kicking and screaming to the side the Republicans had been on for over a century. LBJ could only get the civil rights act of 1964 passed by relying on the Republican support that had always been there, reversing his own opposition to provisions from the 1957 and 1960 legislation that he had helped get excluded in their final passage. JFK was NEVER going to make that happen.
RFK hated LBJ for killing his brother.
Hoover had been FBI boss since 1924. This was before Bobby was born. He knew where all the bodies were buried in DC, yet Bobby had the audacity to treat him so shabbily. This is what Ambassador Kennedy specifically warned Bobby against-making very powerful and dangerous enemies.
RFK was very self-righteous.
Hoover blackmailed nearly every member of Congress.
The Kennedy’s in my opinion have run into a lot of their tragedies and problems through a lack of fear.

RFK blew it. Jonson should have been indited before JFK started his limo tour. He wasn't going to be on the ticket

Involvement with Bobby baker scandal, a lot of shady Texas dealings. People testifying against Johnson refused to speak against him once he was president
Also if Johnson was NOT on ballot JFK may not have won. Johnson got them many southern votes, a great deal of southern people would've gone with the Republican Richard Nixon if NOT for Johnson.
@@ST-rt1qm Johnson was about to be indited for conspiracy involving kickbacks and murder.
@@taylorlibby7642LBJ is linked to at least 7 different murders. One of the most awful persons to ever live.
Why was Johnson sending the attorney general the United States Attorney General to settle political rivalries in other countries...? That’s a job for the Secretary of State
My personal belief, is that although LBJ dispised RFK, Kennedy was technically part of the Johnson Team and needed to be visible working as part of the team.
I can understand that RFK mourns for his brother and that he hates LBJ, but Bobby Kennedy is paid to do a job. He's not doing his job, by hiding at the Kennedy Compound or at his house, Hickory Hill. His Deputy Attorney General, is running the Justice Department. (LBJ also know that "firing" RFK from the job, is "political suicide". He'd probably prefer keeping RFK as AG, despite any personal animosity. It would be a case of a "skunk inside a tent pissing out", instead of RFK's time as a Senator, being a "skunk outside a tent pissing in.")
By having RFK out of the country , he is visible doing something, as part of the administration. RFK wouldn't be moping at his mansion. It could be a sign, of somebody trying to move forward, after the death of a loved one.
Also, LBJ might think that having RFK out of the country would prevent Kennedy from scheming to get the Presidential or Vice Presidential Nomination for himself. LBJ might even claim the trip, to be "helping build up Bobby's foreign policy credentials", for a future run in 1972. (Assuming LBJ ran in 1964 and 1968...and won.)
Johnson could also work on getting the Presidential Nomination for himself.
To get him out of the country, shunt him off on a job that was a dead end as far as American politics was concerned.
RFK despised LBJ, he thought LBJ was a country hillbilly! Treated him with such distain and disrespect when he was the attorney general! RFK never wanted his brother to pick LBJ as the VP!
LBJ was a provincial Texan, to be sure, the Kennedys underestimated his ruthlessness.
The idea of a true-blooded Kennedy going back to the White House is incredible.
if by incredible you mean hilarious, then yeah
If by true blooded you mean lunatic
No. That's not what I mean at all, nor is it a want. All of my life the shooting in Dallas has been a thing to an entire generation of folks who helped raise me. He didn't... It was literally a momentary twinge of guilt.
I had the honor to see and shack hand with A.G Robert Kennedy at Roosevelt High School on the same day he was killed ...
You may not like Roger Stone particularly, but he wrote a very good book about LBJ and included many enlightening comments concerning the relationship between him and RFK. Leaves one to wonder if some of the same folks were involved in the murder of both brothers.

Not sure that smoking cigars does any good to RFK’s voice.
Probably why he did it.
His voice is from a neurological disorder causing his vocal chords to involuntarily tighten. His thought isn’t actually rough even thought it sounds like it
LBJ and Hoover were neighbors for decades. They shared "mutual contempt" for the Kennedys.
LBJ waived mandatory retirement for Hoover as FBI Director, and extended his term for an "indefinite period of time". (Hoover would have been forced to retire in 1965, when he reached 70 years old.)
Rfk Jr needs to run as an independent. He would beat both Trump and biden...provided the feds don't give him the same family treatment.
Madeline Brown told it all and this is just correlation.
Perhaps these two should do a little research and see which president got the civil rights legislation passed.
Instead of talking about the past, he should have talked about the future if he is running for president. I’d like to know if he has differences with the democrat party & Biden. I find this entire dynamic so incredibly moving. The Kennedys are the closest thing to royalty this country ever had. For better or worse. A lot of it is worse considering what happened to a lot of them. But now after decades of being almost completely away from the political spotlight of his father and uncles, he steps back onto the scene as a potential “white knight“. It was the 3 decades away that makes it even more impactful. Typically I stay away from hyperbole with these types of conversations. But this is literally a hero arc of a shakespearean nature.

JFK was far from a willing civil rights leader. MLK left him little choice. And it was LBJ that actually got the legislation passed not JFK.
The first 2 civil rights Acts were passed under Eisenhower, who also sent troops to Little Rock. In 1960 Nixon was considered more liberal on civil rights than JFK. It was Nixon after 1968 who desegregated the schools. Not LBJ not JFK.
