Like your presentation. Either my age, or really want to learn, seems to make learning easier. Like hoe you sing with the tune, showing where the lyrics and notes are.
Yes! This is he exact thing I struggle with and I’ve been playing for years. I’m glad you even knew to put this problem into words. These are practical tips to get started with.
Thank you. This has been something that has troubled me for years. I am getting better though. When in a jam circle and the break suddenly comes my way, I often go with the 3rd note of the chord as the first note I play. I notice you did the same on this tune. I am not sure of the official theory behind this, though that is my fallback when someone points at me to take a break. This is a very valuable lesson and thing to think about. So much of the time I know fiddle tune melodies though not the chords, and visa/versa. To make a jam whole, you really need to switch back and fourth. Your lessons are the best. Thanks again.
fantastic work Baron. please do a video series on essential music theory required for the mandolin. with your amazing teaching style I'm sure every one would be able to get a hold of it.
Would you possibly do some lessons with an octave mandolin? I’ve found I can’t play a lot of the normal mando chords because the scale length is so much longer. Any thoughts on ways of approaching the OM as it’s own instrument as opposed to treating it like a big mandolin?
Thanks!

It's on my list, but I want to do it right and it's going to take a lot of planning and work. Good to hear from you, Shayan!

What camera/editing software are you using here? Video looks and sounds great! Nice-sounding Ellis as well :)
