Your pure shock on Penelope being Lady Whistledown made me laugh so hard (mind you it’s after 3am and I don’t live alone) but if you pay attention they show her every time Lady Whistledown starts her monologue 😉 and I like that her nickname is “Pen”

It makes no sense he would die from a Bumble bee sting. Unless he was actively trying to kill it... They picked the puppy dog of bees. 🤦♀️

The joke about the baby's name beginning with the letter "A" is because the Bridgerton children were named in alphabetical order as they were born, so they would be keeping the tradition hahahaha

But I remembered thinking the other way around.. that Benji's the sensitive one.. So I was surprised to see Rizzo teared up here.. pleasantly surprise.. just love these guys :)

I read the books this show is based off of and I have a few things I think I should say.
The first book was only about Simon and Daphne and all events in the show unrelated to them are show original moments. HOWEVER! Its actually establishing the character arcs the characters will go through when its there turn to meet a spouse.
Penelope was also Lady Whistledown in the books, but she wasn't revealed until book 4 ( which will be season 4 if they keep this each book is one season pattern) I think the reason that they revealed her so early on was because they know the show will get people more interested in the books, people will read the books, and have the show spoiled for them in a way.
Also Marina was a Bridgerton Cousin in the books not a Featherington Cousin. I'm not gonna talk about what happens to Marina, Philip , and the 'baby' *cough* twins *cough* twins, because it is a huge spoiled for book 5, however this isn't the last we're gonna see of them.
Also its not a secret, but it wasn't revealed in book 1 so no one talked about it in season 1, but the bees are related to the family. The father died when he was stung by a bee and the bees very deeply affect how Anthony behaves / his motivations.
The racial diversity wasn't in the books (in fact every character that was described as having blue eyes in the books has been changed like Simon, Lady Danberry, and Marina), but I think we can all agree that its a welcome and refreshing change!
Honestly the Marina, George and Philip thing surprised me. I thought the twins were Philip's biological kids. The fact that they may be George's kids explain his hesitant parenting style.
I came to comment this almost exactly, so I'll just say ditto and comment something less hehe It's been so long since I read the books I've been feeling like I need a revisit.
@@simransimran9339 I think they were his biological kids in the books. So making them his brother's children is another change. However, it does add another layer to his relatioship with his children, as well as the Featherington's and Bridgerton's relationship with Marina (I believe they didn't know her that well in the books).

They had to reveal Lady Whistledown. The books have been out for a long time now, so if they hadn’t reverted her someone would have spoiled it since the information is easily available.
The only way how they could not have revealed her was if they changed who Lady Whistledown is, but I don’t think that would have sat well with the fans of the books.
It also makes people want to go back and rewatch the season to see just how many obvious hints they missed and how she was present for every bit of news Whistledown revealed.
Yeah and now that the audience knows when the characters are all still ignorant, I agree that it'll create a nice secondary plot to showcase Penelope's development as a person
The actress for Lady Danbury was COMPLETE PERFECTION...but Lady Danbury gets even SCARIER in the later books. The entire upper class lives in terror of her, except for the few young women she doesn't view as simpering ninnies. I can not WAIT for her to DIVA it up all over the ton ballrooms.

I love how Rizzo was so hesitant to even watch this show at the beginning and by the end was the most emotionally affected of the two. Both of you are amazing!
Also in Penelope's defense, she tried every which way to prevent Marina and Collin's relationship/marriage and gave Marina so many chances to end it before resorting to outing her in the newsletter. Penelope really cared about Marina, she even promised to protect her secret in one of the earlier episodes. But in the end, she ran out of options.

Yep! Girl really was in a no win situation. It was either betray Marina’s trust, or betray Colin and his family’s (who treat her better than her own) by keeping quiet. She could’ve easily told Colin about the baby, but she instead tried to be discreet and just told him about George. No one listened, which is basically the whole point of why she’s Whistledown…because people listen. Also, she’s supposed to be like 17 here. Who hasn’t made impulsive decisions at that age?
Of course the Bridgerton’s are passionate. Look how many siblings they have. It is hereditary.

Once again, you guys miss the point that Colin is not only Pen's crush, he's an old friend. While Eloise is Pen's best friend, she grew up with the Bridgertons. She's known Colin since she was a child. Marina is someone who she met a few months earlier. They said this several times in the series.
Don't forget "Pen" is Penelope nickname that EVERYONE (except her mother) calls her. The only physical part of

The meaning of the bee means, fresh starts and new paths. A lot of Victorian, Gregorian and Elizabethan paintings had objects and fruit to symbolize things, virtue, love, purity and wealth.

I don't think they'll do a book a season. Season 1 has so much set up of their world and the beginnings of the other story arcs. They can easily do 2 books a season while setting up the next arcs.

-- The Featheringtons: Who is the heir to their estate? What will he (not a spoiler; estates back then went to male relatives) do now that the townhouse belongs to loan sharks? Will he cast them out of the house? Will there be conflict between him and the mom, Portia? If he's unmarried, will she try to marry the oldest daughter off to him?
-- Will: is he going to have to work off any debt because he went along with Papa Featherington's scheme? Will they threaten his family?
-- Benedict: still holding out hope he gets together with the painter or comes to an arrangement with his future spouse!

Lady Danbury (aka Bad Bitch in Red) is the grandmother to Hyacinth's main suitor. Will we see her family next season? Or have they changed that plot point?

I will accept it if they change Bennidect’s storyline, but I’d be lying if I said not seeing Sophia and Bennidect’s story would make me sad. I loved her Cinderella like story.
She’s the only woman in this series (and seemingly of that era) who wore a Top Hat👀👀👀👀besides the woman in the Gentleman Jack series... hmmmm
But I really love Benedict and Sophie’s story in the book.
The Bridgerton children arcs are fantasy love stories about them each find their ONE truly love like their parents did with each other.
Have Benedict have a 'side piece' as well as his wife doesn't represent this. Of course they could have Benedict love interest and true love be a man in the end of his journey but they also run the risk of upset those who love his story and love interest from the book.
I'm glad bot to be the showrunner's shoes because they will have some unhappy viewers not matter the choice they make for Benedict but also for Eloise.
So the duke says their babies name will start with an ‘A’ to carry out the tradition of the Bridgerton’s- They names their kids alphabetically. First was Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca :)

I think the reactions people have when it comes to Penelope and Colin's story line varies depending on whether you are a book fan or not. I see that most of the non book readers assume she outed Marina so that she could get with Colin but that could not be farther from the truth. In the books, Penelope is very much aware of who she is and how she is seen, especially how Colin sees her, which is why she never really thinks there is even a remote chance for her to be with him.🤷🏽♀️
I also think people forget Penelope is is an old 16 year maybe a young 17. So she would not be to understand how much her family is affected by outing Marina. Especially since everything serious happens behind closed doors. No one talks about the consequences, and not around the debutantes.

As one of the book readers, I straight up hated Daphne after *that* scene, and I think that they did a wonderful job making it one of my favorite series.
I stumbled on ya'll halfway through your review of this series and it's utter gold! Your reaction when they revealed it was Penelope was perfect! That being said I have so many (possible if they're sticking to it) spoilers about Marina and confusion about her presence. Colin and Penelope grew up together- they've been thick as thieves. Her actions there seemed out of character but it's a whole new world blending at least eight books.
I will definitely be back for more 😁
Yeah I'm not a book reader but I almost didn't finish the show because of *that* scene . I was so angry. And then I read how the book did that scene and got ANGRIER. there did not need to be non consentual sex. They easily could have had his pull out game be "weak" and have him accidentally ejaculate in her... Or even have her become pregnant anyway because we all know the pull out method is not a good form of birth control because pre-ejaculate can contain sperm. The same dramatic tension would be created.The non consentual sex did not need to happen.
YAY!! Simon and Daphne!!! Omg, the music during their final love scene was epic. Hold up. So when Penelope broke down crying in Eloise's arms, we all thought it was about Colin marrying Marina.
