I'm 61 years old and decided to go back to school for my masters and then DNP. Some people ask me why and that I'm crazy. I love nursing and like her I have a lot of experience in all areas as a bedside nurse and I think us never to late.
I’m an ER nurse. It’s the only nursing I’ve ever done. I love you nurse Blake but we are NOT just coughs and colds and rashes. We know how to save people too, and at my hospital we often care for the critical ICU hold patients that ICU has no room for - on top of our level 2s and 3s. In fact when there is a code in ICU it’s our ER team that comes running. This past year during Covid we had an ER full of ICU and tele hold patients. ER nurses do it all. We are not just an urgent care.
Yeah! Started REALLY insulting to ER Nurses and didn't get much better! Your TWO ICU patients might have immaculately-labeled lines, but the THREE ICU pts I'm holding myself in the ER because y'all cap out at 2/nurse are getting equivalent care!
Just watching this video kinda makes me want to work as a nurse now. I'm a RN but never worked as one. Proceeded to medicine & worked as a physician for 2 years. Now I want to work as a nurse for experience. 🙂 I love nurses. 😍
that’s amazing! I was in L&D, MedSurg-Tele, OR and now i want to be an ER nurse because i love being in a fast pace environment, seeing and experiencing different cases while being compassionate at the same time.
Who knows how many years later , I'm dying laughing with the staple remover. That is so me, just to be able to help🤦♀️. You guys are amazing. Thanks for the information provided. Looking foward to work in the ER. I have a long way to go. But is ok, im learning.
Thank you so much for this video, Nurse Blake!! I am graduating in May and would like to start out in the ED and am so inspired by your interview with Brigit!
Wow. This is me lol I've been an RN for five years Subacute,LTC etc. Now I'm trying to finally get my acute care experience. Two interviews coming up 🤞🏾 Hope yours went well!
@@moonwiz1 nobody asked for reply but i just felt i had a choice since theres a comment section on RUclips. Your gonna make a huge choice based of a random person on RUclips lol ur a smart person buddy
THAT STAPLE REMOVER STORYYYYY hahahahahahahahaha would have loved to see her "proud as a peacock" face with that in her hand presenting it to the surgeon lolllll so great loll thats how we learn! and nobody died, hooray lol
I feel exactly the same i think I'm a very good icu nurse at this point and if you cant breath or are having a seizure or bleeding out i know how to handel it but I know so little about basic everyday stuff
I am taking in my pre reqs before applying for the rn program, but my dream is to be a trauma rn..what am I supposed to be doing right now for the future RN Trauma???all tips very appreciated xoxo
#NurseBlake I hope you are Great! I was wondering if I could ask your advise. I’m just now starting over nursing would be my 3rd. I have always had to work super hard in school to get decent grades and always need time to reread certain things. Anyway to make a long story short I was wondering if you think getting my LPN first would help me prepare for my RN and give me a base since I’ve been out out school so long. I have also never had much science as I currently have my GED and a few college courses. I was also looking a a BSN program that includes all of the prerequisites and you are done in 3 years as its goes year round with only short breaks. Just wonder your thoughts or anyone in the chat that has possibly done both or knows anything about LPN or RN programs.
I am currently in a 3-year BSN program (evening/weekends), but all of my pre-reqs need to be completed first. There isn’t a school in my area that offers an accelerated BSN unless you already have a Bachelor’s degree in another field. I chose to get my BSN because I work in a large city with several Level 1 trauma centers and they do not hire LPNs. In my city LPNs are mostly hired in nursing homes and a few other random facilities/offices, but that’s not where my interest lies.
No to LPN. U are in school keep going. RN has endless opportunities and LPN ur limited to practice. U will grow fast as an RN if your are ambitious to learn. Trust me LPN for 16 years.
Level 1 trauma straight out of nursing school....definitely more than headaches and rashes. SO many critical patients...they come through us before going to the ICU.. also, do NOT take on more patients than your hospital sets you at. I am 1:4 and my license and self are on the line by trying to take more patients. The hospital can add more staffing if that is what is needed. I do not like this interview at all.
The homosexual spirit is so thick in this dude that he would be willing to kill a patient who didn't agree with his mental and spiritual wickedness. That's really shameful

The er is also closer to the hospital exit doors. At the end of the shift it's easier to leave.

first shift in the ED tomorrow! been A med surg RN For 4.5 years, it was time for a CHANGE
Amanda Carlson how has it been going?
That staple remover story was the best ever. It certainly will go down in nursing history. Thanks for being so relatable, down to earth and awesome.
starting in the ER after nursing school nearly gave me an MI
I'm in nursing school right now and it gave me cva and a hemorrhage in my wallet.
(I know, it's a crap joke)
Roy Johnson 🤣 we are a special breed... you will know by the end Ed the first week. I have been an ER / trauma RN for 12 yrs . Never a dull moment!
I’m right there with you! Lol
I graduate in April and I want to go into ER but I’m not sure if that’s a good idea I have no previous medical experience.
I graduate end of this month from lpn school excited yet terrified
ER Nurse here!!! Love it wouldn’t leave it
Do you think a new nurse graduating with no previous nursing experience would be a good start to begin in the ER?
Who knows how many years later , I'm dying laughing with the staple remover. That is so me, just to be able to help🤦♀️. You guys are amazing. Thanks for the information provided. Looking foward to work in the ER. I have a long way to go. But is ok, im learning.
Damn he’s such a happy person. Smiling on
How did this video hide from me for a year? This woman is cool! Inspired!
Graduating in a few months and will be starting in a level 1 trauma center. Super excited!!
Kayla Richardson that’s awesome! You will love it. 😊
you're amazing nurse Brigit! Salute to you! thank you for this nurse Blake!
I LOVE these interviews. They’re so informative for someone who is looking into trying different specialties in nursing. Thank you 🙏🏼 😊
39 days away from starting my first nursing job in a level 2 ER. Also will be continuing my education in an RN-to-BSN program
Thank you so much for this video, Nurse Blake!! I am graduating in May and would like to start out in the ED and am so inspired by your interview with Brigit!
Retired after 30yrs in Level One ER with 100 beds!
Have an interview 9/13/21, after being in subacute/Longterm for 16 years…. It’s time to move forward. Love nursing.

Hope yours went well!
Good luck. I think my interview went well considering it was 38 minutes and did a tour….
I graduate in 2 weeks. Got a job in the ER!! So excited and nervous.
How is it??
I’m thinking about going into the ER after school but idk if it’s a good place to begin, because I have no previous medical experience?
@@moonwiz1 just do it and stop asking questions
@@tonea9851 lol nobody asked for your reply and asking questions is important, why would I dedicate myself into a department I am clueless about.

😍😍😍😍 omg I love u too Bridget lol such nice energy
I just started my final preceptorship in an urgent care (step down emerge). I'm wondering if it will be addicting/change my passion 😅
I work in the ED and over 4 patients is so unsafe!! 😱 I cannot imagine taking on 5 or more patients especially with a 1or 2 acuity. No way.

This is a fantastic interview ! I wish I had her courage to try different specialties. My fear of being a novice again limits me.
Yup that is me right now!
I feel exactly the same i think I'm a very good icu nurse at this point and if you cant breath or are having a seizure or bleeding out i know how to handel it but I know so little about basic everyday stuff
Respectfully I think this is why icu nurses struggle with bedside manners and person to person conversation, at least from what I’ve seen
I hope to become a Bridget one day!!
I graduate in Dec 2020. Would you say ER or ICU first? I am stuck between the two!
Pls Which did you decide and why? I'm currently in the same situation lol
I am taking in my pre reqs before applying for the rn program, but my dream is to be a trauma rn..what am I supposed to be doing right now for the future RN Trauma???all tips very appreciated xoxo
It is my dream. Im two semesters away from graduation. Where can I start?
Can you interview an lpn
#NurseBlake I hope you are Great!

hmmm she's in the Texas med center at a level 1... must be at Ben Taub or Memorial Hermann!
I know where but I know her personally haha!
good looking man
