I think you are doing amazing job and it's nice to have extra parts so you can move forward without stopping and good luck and be safe and God bless you guys and see you next Sunday
Hi Biata, never let the job get to you, when things dont work, step back have a coffee and think what you can do better to do.Take your time, you are doing such a fantastic job, bless you, keep chin up and it will all come together.
That was a blessing to have a friend in the HVAC business with parts. Power surges can really mess things up. We had lightening hit the Spectrum cable box at the pole (happened to be sitting right there seeing it when it happened). Blew out 2 televisions, an X-box game box, & 2 cable boxes. Losing power can cause resets to happen and just makes for frustration!!! Glad you got it fixed.
Great job of digging through all the possible problems. But more important having expert contacts/friends that can help out when you are at your limit. Also, having several alternatives for emergencies. Love you drive to bring your dreams to life. 👍👏🙌👌🏻🙏❤️
Hi Biata! The house looks so pretty with the snow on it! Glad your friend managed to help you sort out the furnace, must be such a relief to have it working. Good luck with the next inspection! Take care, Naomi x
Snowing like mad!! 😂im thinking you guys are probably glad you have that truck now! With all that snow can't wait to see the wetlands in the spring 🌱! Looking good inside your house keep plugging away and soon you'll be out of the camper!!
I was thinking of you when I heard your area got so much snow! I was dreaming along with you thinking of how next winter you will for sure be in your house for Christmas!
Glad you got heat back in the trailer. You are making great strides in the house. Won't be belong and the heat will be in the house. Keep warm and dry.
Glad you managed to get the heat going. I think your advice on having those extra parts for furnace is great idea. It always gives trouble when you can’t get parts. Having your own means you can fix it anytime. Also something I noticed in video your propane tanks are covered in snow. Always try to keep them uncovered as much as possible. I’ve had tanks freeze up in winter when covered in snow. That’s what my propane supplier told me to do to prevent this from happening

I asked last week or the week before. Is there a reason that you can’t fire up the wood boiler now. That would make it more comfortable for working in the house. Also if you have furnace problems in the trailer you could stay warm in the house. Everything you are doing looks great and you are a rock star for being able to do most of it without much help. The osb you were putting in could have been cut to 4 foot lengths to make it easier to get into the attic they are not there for strength so make it easier on yourself for the other side of the house. Can’t wait for next week.
There’s no attic insulation so I’d be wasting energy. I did it last year and it was constant work. Constantly filling up the wood boiler. And thanks so much! Hopefully I can get the heat on soon! Won’t be long :)
They didn’t work for the cathedral ceiling :(. They’re for 24” OC and not 16” OC. And they’re super breakable so bending them into the 16” space wouldn’t work! Also super expensive
Have you decided where you are going to put the garage/polebarn on your property? Have you picked out a tractor for gardening, tree falling, and snow removal next year?
Don't forget dielectric grease on electrical connections outside like on the batteries, vinegar and table salt makes a great cheap but effective contact cleaner, be nice to have a surge protector expensive but better a tripped breaker than smoking your home, we lost a neutral on our incoming power line and it cooked light fixtures, a tv, our 240v oven, it was a mess, toasted the board on the clothes dryer, took ten months to find older style appliances that could handle electrical surges, here we have at least 9 outages a year I would like a solar system, but we have generators, always have a back up. And extra, supplies like thermocouples, board, fuses, got to be your own parts store just practical living, so much has changed.
Raking snow off my roof is something Im missing out on, not, it looks pretty but Im not into cold, winter for me is 18C. You are getting close to Sheet Rocking the interior, are you going to do Cornice ?
Wonderful video Biata. You’re such a trooper. Already looking forward to next weeks video. Can’t imagine living with your weather. The UK hasn’t been great, but never seen that much snow in my life. No doubt about your inspection going well. Will you get it done before Christmas? Love and respect from the old man in the UK
Awh thank you! I can't wait to share the inspection next week! Getting it done! I'll have the home heated by Christmas! But we won't be living in it before Christmas hahaha 😅
It’s funny how much things have changed in building houses. Making them air tight. What’s up with that? 🤔 I grew up in a house my dad remodeled. He was a carpenter. Tar paper on the outside of the shiplap siding and board and batt over that. Shake roof on shiplap. Gaps around doors and windows. Big barrel type wood stove. Our bedrooms were the same temperature inside as the outside. Winter and summer. I was never sick. Never had colds. We could feel a breeze going through the house. Just a breeze. 🙂 Now we seal everything. Purchase expensive ERVs to exchange the air in the house. Stay cooped up inside instead of hanging out in the weather. (Not you) now kids are always sick along with parents. Not all but a big portion. This may not be the entire reason as what we are eating these days cause many problems. My house I live in now has no plastic anywhere in the walls. Doors leak air. Windows are tight and we have an ERV but I work outside all the time now. This is not intended to give you a hard time. I just think we need to expose ourselves to the outside much more. 😊
Haha I agree! My friend and I were chatting about this the other week. Sooo much taping and sealing and plastic. We make them so air tight and then use the ERV to bring air in
I won’t be doing spray foam insulation (only around the windows) :), I’m doing blow in fibreglass because it’s much easier to get around all the ducting and nooks and crannies in the attic!
😂 oh God no! To quote a tik tok jingle dumb way to die, 🙄 even rural anywhere one has to be prepared, we have had power out for days and neighbors got cold, cause everything was dependant on electricity, our former neigboors plan for the covid lock down was well planned, he had munchies, a 1/4 ounce of pot, a gram of wax, so he felt his priorities were spot on, 😑

B. Those vent baffles are what I was referring to when I suggested that you use them instead of cutting up cardboard to make your own.

Probably will need to sit done before opening your property tax bill when the house is completed. That's a big house.
lol fair! 1200sq ft
don't worry about the snow. Your roof is designed to carry the weight
Fair, I think everyone we know shovelled some snow off their roof this week, we had 4-5 feet that compacted 😵💫
Have you decided where you are going to put the garage/polebarn on your property? Have you picked out a tractor for gardening, tree falling, and snow removal next year?
I haven’t decided on a tractor :). For financing I have to wait until I have a mortgage. We might never do a garage, we’ll see :)
I’ve seen people use cardboard for the blown in insulation instead of plywood, might be easier to handle
