When we think Omega Speedmaster, we always think of the manual wind non-hacking Moon Watch with the easy to scratch acrylic crystal! A watch that is technically outdated but has the history behind it.
If you are a collector and like the history behind that watch it is THE Speedmaster to get.
If however you want more "bang for buck" and something with a little more modern features, this Speedmaster Triple Date, or Mark 40 as it is named in the WIS world, can be the watch for you.
Sapphire crystal, smaller size, automatic movement that has both hacking and hand winding and comes with a full calendar that includes, Day, Date AND month, a 24 hour indicator and a 12 hour Chronograph, this watch is probably the best "complication per buck spent" watch in the world 😄.
Powered by the Omega 1151 movement which is Omega modified ETA 7751 it is actually one of the cheapest ways of getting that ETA movement.
I hope you enjoy the video :)

Man, I am so happy I found this channel! We have many of the same watches and likes. I currently have the 3513.50 but find that I struggle to read the time when I don’t have my reading glasses. I was looking to trade out to this 3520 due to better contrast. My concern was the busyness of the dial but I think you mitigated my concern with this review.
Get well soon buddy! Great solid choice and the review perfect. I’ll try to get one of those.
Wow that’s pretty cool “ especially the size due to the functionality”!
Great review, thanks for sharing and hope your arm heals quickly 👍🍻
i am probably one of those lucky guys who was able to get a brand new one from the factory. it is really pity that they are not manufactured anymore. the more you wear it the more you fall in love with it. i have sold my other watches in my watch collection one by one after buying this omega, cause i felt that i never want to wear any other watch. omega looks and feels like omega and no hamilton, no tissot, no roamer can ever give you the same feeling. it is a feeling like having an aston martin. great review! thanks and best regards from turkey.
Ergun Varlik You are a lucky man.
Ergun: that is precisely the beauty of your watch. Not only did you get youself a jewel, but not even our friends at Omega realized what a priceless timepiece they had in their hands. Enjoy it!
Well said I feel the same way about this watch. The more I wear it more I fall in love, and rest of the watches have to *fight* for wrist time
@@spy7533 a friend of mine visited the factory in Switzerland and brought six pieces with him to Turkey. I took one of them.
Ergun, Do you think it will look too small on my 7 and half inch wrist?
This video helped solidify my decision about purchasing this model over the Reduced. It was a little more but the difference of the movements was the deciding factor. Thanks for this video, there aren’t a lot about this particular watch. I love the calendar aspect of the watch as it’s the most useful movement.
Did you get one? It's a gorgeous watch.
Watched this video awhile back and it’s come across my feed again. Wanted to let you know I ended up grabbing the 3220.50, the hip young son of the 3520. I love it dearly and I love it more every time I wear it. It’s hard for me to continue collecting knowing how stiff the competition is for wrist time. I enjoy wearing it on a dark brown vintage diver strap, and I just ordered a 2 piece black nylon for it. Thanks for the video!
Agreed! Sapphire crystal, 7751 movement, perfect small size!
Really great review, I was on the fence but im ordering the watch now
thank you for sharing this..I dint know that it uses Valjoux 7751 until I saw this..appreciate it!
Awesome review as usual 👌
Absolutely bang on. And yes, I’m happy it doesn’t have the moon phase on too!
Always liked this Speedy. Hopefully a quick recovery with your arm.
Just received mine and I am in love 😁
Sorry to hear about your injury. I hope you get better soon.
I'm already better as the video was shot a month ago 😊
welcome back brother
Recently got the revised/updated version of this watch, which I remember I saw first late 90s and wanted it, the 3220.50 version in a mint/unused condition for ~$2350 (most likely from one of the last production batches from 2014, as the serial number starts with 86xxxxxx). I have updated it with the 6 points adjustable clasp (with clasp conversion links), costing another ~$210. Really like it and this one is gonna be for decades to come.
Is there anyone who can guide me to find more info when the original started being produced, till when, and then this revised version - when and till when? Barely can find any info/review on the 3220.50 iteration. Maybe someone can guide using the serial numbering of Speedmasters?!
I bought 56xxxx serial myself I bought used in near perfect condition a few years ago. I really love this watch even if it's much busier than I typically like. It's just such a neat piece. Not sure I'll ever want to sell it.
Your video is so intresting i cannot miss even one
Great review!
Own the same watch and just love it. Mine is now 20y old and runs like a charm.
I am always amazed at how many complications Omega packed into this small watch! I recently was able to get a Fortis B-42 Cosmonaut Chrono (Ti) which is a different type of beast. It's huge compared to the MK40 Speedy. Both have their own charm though.
Thank you !! Your video is very helpful and I completely agree with you specs size 39mm is perfect on my wrist. 👍
Upgrade from classic Speed Master 😎
All indications are very Useful !
I have one in stainless steel with the blue dial. I love it, i've had it a few years now and i obvisly brought it used but i have all the boxes and papers with it. I only have two watches my main everyday being my mid size 1997 sea master blue dial just like the one in the bond films. This is my special ocashions watch. Paid £2000 for mine in mint condition with all box and papers fro a reputable watch dealer. You can find them much cheeper but then theres no box or papers or its covered in scratches and you have to look out for fakes too (the main reason i allways buy from a reputable dealer). Paying a little bit more is cheeper then paying a little bit less then finding out you've brought a fake.
Great review again!
Thanks 😊
proud owner of one since friday. 1800 usd for a brand new unused one from the factory. I do not know when it was manufactured. the more I look at the watch, the more I am falling in love with it. all the others in my collection like tissot visodate, iwc portugueser, hamilton khaki are gonna have to have a long long break in my watch box :)
Good for you!
I'm in a hunt for one. Where did you get it???
@@enriquesalinasv.7907 i bought it from a friend who has been in switzerland few weeks ago. he is a professional watch seller in turkey.
Great review like always.
Thanks 😊
I have a small collection of Speedys and have never noticed that bulge on the crown side.. I also love the Mark 40 in black , great video !
Thanks 😊
I have the sunburst blue version from 98. Adore it.
I have the same one. It is my favorite watch.
Probably the best chronograph I've seen
I just purchased 2 of these watches... i like the sub dial more than the traditional speedy
I have the same MK 40 as you, it has been with me for 25 years and it has always been my favourite. I agree with you, this watch is worth the price. What watch has 8 hands lol :)
I just bought it. IT IS ASTONISHING
Love it 😎
will have this soon but with the tritium dial!
Beautiful complex watch. Didn't know about it but is one to get for sure if you appreciate and like busy dials (I do). I wonder how often would be recommended to service it and how much that would cost?
I love it.
Nice vid, i own one Love it
My primary choice too.
This is my grail watch. It has everything I want.
it very complex mechanism watch Omega made, luckily I got one.
Mine is all polished out like chrome cus I'm a polish nut. I even polish out the aluminum block of my Toro lawnmower.
Wearing my MK40 today and reading about other automatic Speedmasters. Have you heard about the "Holy Grail" Speedmaster? What a stunner.
I am just glad that Chuck Maddox did not hunt for the MK 40. Otherwise, it would have been well out of my range.
I must admit that I would love to add a "Holy Grail" Speedy to my collection ... but well :-D
Does the snap on caseback ever feel wobbly or is it well-built?
Nice watch 👆🏻
Marin , great review as always, are the dial hands actually white? I'm looking at a 2016 version where they look silver.
On this variant they are white
@Watch Geek How did you burn your hand?
If the running seconds is at 9oclock and it is a 24 second scale, how do you read the seconds when there is 60 seconds in a minute? Ie, how do you see 9:35:34?
Hey, right handed wrist watch wearers aren’t complaining brother😉
I found an eBay model but it says chronometer on the dial. Is that a real watch?
Howb long does your last when not being worn?
I have a question regarding the month function, does the watch detect the 30 and 31 days for each month? (Hopefully 28 days for Feb) too.
Was there ever a GMT version? I keep seeing it sold with as a “GMT” but not sure
Can you set that 24hr subdial to track a different time zone?
Sadly no
Can you use that little 24 hour dial near the nine for another time zone, or are the two hour hand inseparable?
Sadly no, they are connected and can't be set separately
@@WatchGeek Thanks!
@@watchsymposium no problem, I'm glad I can help
Will a 1450 bracelet fit this watch?
The link is not working any more.
Thank you for sharing thus! Now im on i hunt... from where did you get yours? Thanks
I got mine on eBay
Watch Geek thanks do you advise to get it w/o box and papers? Btw do you plan to have it serviced? Thanks
I am Interested In buying one like this one for 2,000 Euros. Second Hand do you think it's Worth The Price Please?
Hands down my favorite Omega
I have that watch. Any idea what it worth. Mine has blue face. Saptjphre crystal lens. No black bezel mine is polished .
Mine was purchased 19 years ago and has been going ever since.
No mine is blue face and mirrored bezel. Same bracelet. How much is it worth.
Just go to Chrono24 and type in your reference number, it should give you a range of prices
had one with a champagne dial couldnt see it so swaped it for a date
The speed bug is real. All my other watches were retired.
Is it waterproof?
In. My opinion the speedmaster broadarrow is the best value speedy
review g shock GBD 800
I prefer the 40mm version is chronometer and has a 20mm lug widt
I feel like William Shatner has a run for his funny phrase speaking. :)
Hey mate love your videos was wondering how much you got your speedmaster triple date for since I'm currently in the process of purchasing one but the silver version instead. I must admit I prefer yours in black absolutely gorgeous but unfortunately the only one I could find local was a silver one. Please get back to me when you can. I feel like I'm getting a good deal so I would like to know how much you paid for yours. Thank you get back to me when you can.
I think it was just slightly under $2.000 with papers
@@WatchGeek thank you for the response
@@chrisamador1311 no problem, thanks for watching 😁👍
@@WatchGeek always do 👌🏻
All i need to know about this watch... Is was it only ever stainless with black dial (though I've seen one with a blue bezel, i never found out of it was an aftermarket modification).
I'm talking in particular the one popularly known as the 'triple date'.
It's one of my fave speedmasters, and id hate to buy an all stainless with black face.... If there was a limited brown or blue one.
I've searched and searched, and come to the conclusion that there is one stainless steel colourway.... But if there is another, I'm sure you guys will know!
There are more variants
@@WatchGeek hate to be a bum and ask... But i HAVE sought different variants... And come up with (possible home mod) blue bezel... And a leather strap. Even the Omega site seems to want to make us see this as stainless only! So.... Is there anywhere that lists the versions of this watch? (which btw is my next watch purchase for sure.... And i must just bs searching the wrong thing 'speedmaster triple date models/variations'... And coming up with nothing!
Wishing your arm a speed recovery.
Thanks it's already healed, as the video was recorded almost a month ago
@@WatchGeek Great news!!
Where can I buy one?
is Whiskey Impressions your brother or related to you? he is also from Croatia! he looks like ur younger brother.
Haha never heard of the guy, I will look him up
Does it has a GMT function?
Nope, it's just an AM PM indicator
There is one of these on ebay for $1650
hello , it is light?
Yes
What size is your wrist?
6,7"
The cost of servicing this watch outdoes the cost of the watch itself.
Not exactly...my watchmaker, a BHI fellow, takes 100 E for regular servicing it 😉
Gdje kupiti?
Oglasi, Ebay, Chrono24....
Very complex. Very worth it.... 😰
Maaaaaaan on the F@#kkiiiiinnnggg MOooooOOoooon! 🌛🏃🇺🇲🔭
😄😄😄
do you still like it?
I fulishly sold it and can't stop regretting, I even contacted the person I sold it to to buy it back, but he wouldn't sell it 😪
@@WatchGeek I bought it back after 1 year.
Lucky 😃👍
I bought mine from a certified dealer about 10 years ago, but sadly my eyesight has deteriorated. I must part with it after having worn it only a few times (have several other watches). Have the boxes and paperwork, extra links, etc., if anyone is interested.
Hi, is the watch still available?
@@villagehomeboy Yes, it's in the box, in my safe.
@@wholeNwon are you willing to sell it?
@@villagehomeboy Yes. I've lost enough of my eyesight that the date is now difficult for me to read. So, I use other watches.
@@wholeNwon I PM-ed you over gmail. Did you get it? Wanted to ask you a few things...thanks!
