Thanks for sharing, really enjoy watching your channel. Im in Salt Lake, so simillar growing zone. Its interesting to see how far back you took this tree, i would have probably left more structure myself, but thats the cool thing about bonsai, there is no right or wrong way to do it. I look forward to seeing this tree develop in the future. 🌲
Thanks! I thought about leaving more structure, but seems like every time I do that I end up having to do big corrections later on. Kind of like when a new boss comes in and fires everybody and brings in their own people. I basically fired all the branches and starting fresh with my own. Lol (bad analogy)
@@cukuberes so far this one has exploded with growth! But, we'll have to see how it does throughout the growing season to know for sure. I'll post some comparisons in the fall next to a Siberian Elm.

Thanks for sharing this interesting tree
Thanks!
I have never heard of this variety. Very interesting.
Thanks! And yeah it's been an interesting one so far. I like working with elms in general so I couldn't pass this one up.
Never heard of and I agree that it got great potential with those small leaves etc. Gotta keep an eye out for it. Cheers!
Cheers!
the leaf shape is very pleasing.
Right!? And the way they all come out in perfect rows like that is oddly satisfying
It grows slowly in terms of overall plant size, but on the scale of bonsai branch growth it is quite fast.
Yeah so far it's back budded all over the place
I just wanted to ask if this elm grows realy so slow.as i read it is.
But then new shoots grow pretty fast then???

@@BonsaiBoise i buyd yesterday this for bonsai but was a bit woried when read than it grows realy slow. Will cut back tomorow and se how it goes
Got the same feeling about looking at videos: the one at 4.20 was ´my´ leader.😊
I thought about it. I had analysis paralysis with all those options!
Any information on whether this is susceptible to Dutch Elm disease?
Actually I did a little more digging and found that it is NOT effected by dutch elm disease!
