  • This tutorial first looks at the heelside to toeside gybe on a directional board. It then covers the footswap that can be used afterwards. Finally, it explains some drills that will help you prepare for the strapless foot swap.

    your channel is a true one-stop shop for all kitesurfing tutorials, thank you a lot for making the videos! I always come back to the channel after the session to find out what I was doing wrong and somehow you always have the answer!

    These videos have excellent camera angles to demonstrate the lesson plans.This combined with the illustrations of wind, kite and directions of flight. Allow easy understanding of the information. Keep up the good work.

      Thanks Phil. You're exactly right, I plan the camera angles carefully. It makes my life much harder of course, but hopefully it's worth it.

      This is why I just subscribed; coulda used this nice one a few years ago. No annoying soundtrack or splashscreen intros either. On the ski stance it's good to keep the kite somewhat high when learning to help unweight the rider.

    excellent as usual ! that ski stance tip is really good. Its a great way to make work entertaining and fun since people bail quite a lot at first but eventually learn a lot.

    Thanks for another great video! I just re-watched this after trying a few gybes - it makes much more sense now that I have attempted it. One of the things that I recognized I was doing wrong was following the kite all the way around and ending up behind the kite - you need to send the kite across the window and then turn your board (as shown in video) BUT make sure to keep your kite downwind from you. I can get most of my gybes now but still haven't mastered the foot swap. Going toe-side upwind is also tricky, you really need to lean back in the harness and edge hard.

    GREAT! also foot swap with straps would be very appreciated, and also how to ride toe side with surfboard and didn't stall after the turn... (I always stall when trying toeside riding... probably I'm not taking the correct wind angle...)

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the ideas Gaetano. To keep riding in toeside you probably need to get on your toeside edge sooner, and firmer. Taking the back hand off so you can turn your body away from the kite and leaning over the toeside rail helps a lot. You need to start edging fully crosswind while you still have some power in the kite. It's common to ride way to far downwind in toeside stance, allowing the kite to fly away from the power zone.

    Should a relative beginner use a strapless or directional board?

  • @h-dawg969
    @h-dawg969 4 года назад

    Isn there any issues with using a leash when riding a strapless directional board? I'm always thinking itll be so easy to get too far from the board. Especially if riding in a bit of surf.

      @@SavignyS The next 2 videos are about avoiding kitemares and an update of the basic safety principles video. Then strapless pop, and then an update of my darkslide tutorial. Hopefully we get some wind here soon to film some more strapless/directional videos.

    what board is that?

    • @shreddagorge

      Looks like an older Duotone Whip (www.duotonesports.com/kiteboarding/boards/surfboards/pro-whip). I practice on a Slingshot Angry Swallow which has a similar wide midsection, blunted-nose design. Easier to learn on this style board first before going to a more traditional surfboard shape. (I also ride a strapped Slingshot Celero).
