I think the answer to question 2 here is incorrect. Shade on a deck in the summertime would be desirable in the US to most clients. Solar angle in Kentucky is going to be ~ 50 degrees, so a 40' maple (pretty common after a decade of growth) will still throw about 20' of shade. Also as a rule of thumb we tend to encourage morning sun and shade western sun. Add some heat in the morning when it's cold. Protect when it's already warm. So a tree to the east is not really a good solution for anything.
This was my thinking as well. The hottest part of the day in summer is about 3pm. So having the tree directly south would provide shade when you want it most. Having shade in the early morning isn't all that helpful.
I agree. I would rather shade a deck than a window for morning sun. I think the best answer was the one he gave as the drag and drop answer to the west of the deck.
Also in Kentucky you probably want shade on your house for part of Fall and Spring, if not most of Fall, now that temperatures are getting hotter every year, and this would mean the sun is lower in the sky = greater shadow footprint.
I think the problem with your answer is that it is an assumption of taste (a good one, however). In my view, NCARB care much more about solar heat gain, thus lowering energy used by bldg, etc etc.
WOW...The audio choppiness is REALLY difficult to listen to. Very distracting and annoying. The content looks good so far but there's no way my brain can handle the audio distortion for an hour, Thanks,
thanks for all these free videos!
Fix the audio!!!
For question 1 should it be 48 + 48 + (7)(11) for the length instead of (12)(11)? Isn’t the length just one side of the stairs which has 6 runs plus the 1 imaginary 1 so it would be 7*11? Am I missing something?
Sound quality is very poor and grainy, please reprocess!
