This story was covered on BBC south today, both you and Chloe came across very well and highlighted the problem with getting the canal restored through Swindon. I have signed the petition by the way. Keep up the good work. Happy new year to you and all the best for the future 👍👍
Brilliant work in raising this issue guys. Generate lots of noise and ask to meet local councillors over it and get them on board. You can do this and good luck :)
I worked on the Swindon to Kemble redoubling on the rail there, quite a challenging endeavour, the same should be afforded the canal, prosperity for everyone.
There is a lot of protection on the route for the main line of the Wilts and Berks but this wasn’t given to the North Wilts canal, if you watch the WBCTs latest video which I’m in it goes into it a bit more
Some places as developers restore the canal as part of the building works which gives something back to the community I really wish they wouldn't build up to the banks of canals more and more canals of housing estates backing on to them they should leave a green corridor for animals and people it's so important to wildlife
Not only that, housing facing the canal sell "off-plan" for more than the same design places without a canal aspect - and this difference would more than make up for the "loss" of the 10m or so needed to get the canal & cycle path through.
Excellent interview. Well done!
Thank you

That’s the plan, make sure people can’t let it slip by without a fight

@@18robsmith A direction (no links - they cause deletions!) to recent real world examples of comparative costings would help your argument no end.
Often the developments pay for the canal and the trusts can’t turn that down when they are developing the land anyway
20% more. We couldn’t really put any stuff like that in as the BBC weren’t interested
