- Wayne is a fixture on the banger racing circuit. Now his son Jai-Dee is nearly 13, his debut race is finally in view. Subscribe to The Guardian on RUclips ► bit.ly/subscribegdn
Wayne, a double amputee, is preparing him mentally for the goal ahead and Jai-Dee is feeling increasing pressure to make his father proud. This cinematic documentary poignantly reframes expectations of masculinity across the generations.

A superb insight into the world of banger racing and the bonds it fosters within families and the racing community. It's refreshing to see a film celebrate our sport on the global stage
So glad this has been released now.. well done everyone. So glad to have been part of this
Proper dad right there
Quality family Quality film about what we all love doing its not a hobby its a lifestyle and a lot of people don't realise that 🏁🏁🏁
I take my hat of to jd’s dad what a top bloke for doing what he’s done keeping his cool. The way he was great watch need some more mini documentaries like this.
Beautifully shot and capturing of a great modern incarnation of the father-son relationship. Loved it
Inspiring in several ways. The perseverance and determination of the whole family to keep things moving along takes a great deal of mental strength. I also found the production and storytelling really interesting. Thanks to all involved!
A brilliant insight into the world of bangers glad to see our sport being shown on a global scale
I really like it. Deep depiction of young soul striving for dad's favour, along with fulfilling his own ambitions. He may say one day - "dad I am not for the bangers, but really thank you very much for your approach. It gave me self-discipline, drive for success in life, respect towards others .... " And he won't be looser, rather opposite. That day he will become a man.
what a team, proud dad moments right there got my support now from scotland 🏁🏁
Thats made my Christmas Day! Thanks to all involved, definately making tracks to Standlake for HMC on the 7th now!
Incredible documentary, the way it captures the father son relationship is beautiful. Really enjoyed that and wanna see more of this crazy sport 👍

22:00 I wish I was that cool when I was 13!
Typical guardian reader wakes up and adorns one self in a silk dressing gown and pull open the curtains to look at the 3ltr Granada outside with tHE gUaRdIAn sign written down the sides and Race Video on the boot lid .
It’s a War zone but it’s a paradise 🇬🇧🥷🏿
Came here for the music. James, you've done it again.
Brillant vid hope there is going to be more
Is there a part 2 for this
A nice documentary 👍
I've raced there before 😂
Beautiful documentary on English culture.
Shocking from Guardian.
Love this
Loved that, bravo all
safety glasses for christ sakes
And a Helmet on the ATV !
Health and safety squint and 5 mph on a little quad that's why kids are so soft these days
100% My mate at work got a spark from a 4" grinder in the eye, it rusted on his eye ball, had it picked out with a needle. Very painful.
Great documentary…might have gone to school with the elder Boland in Eynsham…
I'm not sure how this 'reframes expectations of masculinity' as it all looks pretty normal to me, but it's an excellent documentary.
🥰💙
He said he got put in he put himself in baby
I know I did 😂 at the time I thought I got put in
@@Jai-Dee_boland_122if its in the blood and you love it, stick at it, don’t get mad and stressed, thats oval racing for ya, its all a massive learning curve & you’ll learn something new everyday, its a great hobby and will keep you happy for years to come.
@@garymallinson2292thank you mate I really appreciate the support and I will I’ve learnt from then and store getting stressed when I wreck my car 😎
A world apart from the so called sport they allow us to watch on TV where a pair of balls is needed not one
❤
Cant believe the guardian decided to film this. They're burning fossil fuels in old unefficient cars!
Jd is a bright kid as far as his understanding of right & wrong, self reflection, mechanical knowledge etc. This high lights the importance of family.
I couldn’t think of anything worse
They wonder why their kids turn out simpletons
And you’re a keyboard warrior
Big man insulting a person who gets bullied, feel better for deflecting from your own failure at life?
whats a fiesta doing in the unlimiteds?
Nothing. They cut together multiple bits of footage from 3 classes.
