I have been waiting for your video about the Porkies. My husband and I went there before our kids were born. We were tent camping with our first Labrador Retriever. We stayed at a primitive campsite right next to a stream filled with Brook trout. There were only 4 campsites. We loved the hiking. It was beautiful and memorable.

Hi Karla, we wished we would stayed there in the park. It really needs to be explored. So so beautiful! Sitting by the waterfall taking in all the beauty. There will be a day with no time limits. Just to sit and take it all in. We left Kobe in the trailer which gave us only a few hours to explore. Definitely want to go back and see all the things we missed. Thank you for joining us! @@OverTheHillAdventures we do our first trip in the end of May just before memorial day. We try to go until end of September first of October for the fall colors. When you come back I can give you some information on water falls in northern Wisconsin.

Hi Tim, it was so beautiful!! One of the most beautiful hikes we have ever done. We are definitely softies for the waterfalls. So gorgeous!! The hike really wasn’t bad you just have to take your time. When we go off trail that’s a little rugged.
Presque Isle campground is rustic, one loop is generator free and the other loop is generator friendly. A couple of the highways through the park are closed starting December 1 until sometime into the spring except for snowmobiles.

We enjoyed the waterfalls, but our hike didn't include the primitive trail on the other side of Presque Isle River. The Lake Superior shoreline was picturesque and the waterfalls were stunning although there wasn't as much water flowing in July. We loved the Porkies, but you're right about the cell service and driving the bumpy road to Presque Isle. The only place we found with decent coverage was the store around the corner from Union Bay and the road was absolutely horrendous. One hike we truly enjoyed was the Escarpment Trail overlooking Lake of the Clouds. The views were amazing! Molly is quite a trooper and has the stamina of a mountain goat!

There is a campground on Lake Superior in Ontonagon and an RV park with full hookups just outside Ontonagon which is where I stayed in 2018.
That is some great info! We really try to stay inside the National Parks and State Parks as much as we can. Thank you so much!
Another great Michigan video! I try to always download the google maps, but sometimes forget :(. but the lack of internet fortunately didn't impact the video quality! We really need to get up that way - I had no idea how big and beautiful it is. Did you guys have to reserve the campsites far in advance ? Those rocks were really pretty, love how the water flowed over those. Safe travels!

Rhonda made reservations a week out. We made no reservations on this trip to Michigan. Once we figured out where we wanted to go we would make the call. Don’t forget it was fall the shoulder season. However, those Michiganders they are campers!!

How do you find things to see and do on your trips? Just Google or are you using something else?
Hi Mik, We do a few things. We do rely on Google quite a bit. If I know we are headed to a particular state, we order the free tourism guide available for each state.
