+a3grimreaper Your idea of a story ending works, but I would like to think that the Rebel pilot would hang out and fake it until he could sneak away back to the Rebellion. Maybe even it his tech skills were up to it, he would also do a little spying first and then escape back to the Rebellion.

@@AlexRazorGame It still doesn't change the fact that the empire destroy worlds while the rebels are trying to stop that from happening. If you think that fighting for a side that took out planets and enslave people are innocent or in the grey then you have a twisted moral compass. Obviously there are bad and goods on both sides..but lets not play around and acknowledge that the amount of corruption and evil is equal between both factions. The best example here is what we're living through right now. Ours truly Trump saying that both sides have good people..sure..one side likes to threaten people by carrying arms and bring shields and clubs-carrying fire torches and driving a car into a crowd of pepole-how about the other side? They are only a reaction to that lot.

in all honesty many of the soldiers that fought on hoth knew that if they didnt make it, they were on their own. they accepted it, knowing that it meant certain death. many rebels died in such situations knowing that they fought for the freedom of the galaxy. they bought their comrades the time to escape knowing that their sacrifice meant the rebellion lived on. there were plenty of instances of this throughout the galactic civil war (rebellion era).

+Vasun05 While storm troopers are not even nearly as elite as clone troopers they're still supposed to be excellent marksmen, for example in a new hope the rebels on the Tantive IV defended a bottleneck and the storm troopers easily overwhelmed them and only suffered 2 casualties if I remember correctly. The only reason why they didn't repeat later in the movie was because they had orders to let the Millennium Falcon escape. And in Return of the Jedi they kinda had to portray them as completely incapable imbeciles or else the story wouldn't have worked.

Pile on the fact that they have less than *_ZERO_* respect for or interest in *_ALL_* the previously established material they didn't create? That leaves you with problems that *_FAR_* exceed and dwarf any filming techniques and equipment...

Ranting aside, Disney did a fine job with the terrain and scenery on Scarif.
And they didn't do too badly with Jakku, Takodana, Ahch-To, etc, even though these were derivatives of original Star Wars environments.
Disney's failings were on the characters and the narratives, not the settings.

Each second of movie has 30 frames. Animators had to work on simultaneously several movements in each frame. Each second of the probe drone or AT-AT movement requires at least 2 hours of stop motion work. Basically 2 guys work meticulously the whole evening for 1 second of movie content. It is not counting the time of set up, editing, and deleted scenes. Now watch the video again , calculate the time of stop motion (I counted at least 50 second, that is 1500 frames) and appreciate the artists labor of love. then go to click like and share.

Lightsabers are great when they are saved for special moments, not used all the time. This goes for pretty much everything in film that you want to maintain it's charm. You don't overdo it. In Empire Strikes back, Luke only uses it for about 5 seconds when he defends himself from being eaten, a second time for about 5 seconds when he slices open the AT-AT and then maybe 60 seconds tops when he ventures into the cave with the vision of Vader. Essentially, they save the lightsaber for the good shit at the end... Vader and Luke's duel, which remains the greatest lightsaber sequence in any of the films or animated series.

Best quality fan film ever done for Star Wars--
AND NOT A SINGLE LIGHTSABER!!! THIS NEEDS A SEQUEL ASAP!!!!!! Amazing work! Amazing costumes! and visually the usage of practical effects was worth the added effort. Storywise, at first I felt the storm trooper randomly being alone was a little forced. But the moment she took off her helmet, I got a deep feeling of sympathy for two people who didn't want to be the warriors they had signed up to be. That alone is worth more than story detail. The moment the film ended I was ready for part II. Just take my money and go!

I really liked it!

  • @sircheck
    @sircheck 7 лет назад +118

I think one more establishing shot of the pilot spotting the trooper somewhere in the distance would prevented all confusion why there is just an imperial storm to his feet out of nowhere. Besides that, gerat film! Love the scenario. Just reminds me of WWII pilots who crashed on enemy ground. Such destinies make Star Wars much more graspable.

I think if it was part of a movie where we were attached to the chracters the slow pace would have worked, possibly even paid off. But we aren't since this is a short film. Couch_Ech Disagree. The pacing is just right. Other fan films have really weird pacing, because they don't have any real scenes, rather montages of events and locations without any sense of duration. They don't feel like you're there. This here felt like a real movie.

I felt their hopelessness and not just from the acting, but also how it was filmed--the pacing. I love how smart and clever this is. I love that they knew that you dont need a lot of dialogue to make a scene, let alone a whole film-classic silent films have shown us the brilliance of that. There is so much here, with there being so less.
    Yes, great work guys!

+Christopher Craig My film/acting teacher used to say "When you do something (acting, filming, writing, etc) don't do it to impress your friends, your family or yourself. Try to please a complete stranger. If you can achieve that, you've done a great job." This film belongs to that first group (friends & family... in this case the Star Wars fans family). Most S.W. fans appreciate most aspects of this film so much they go in denial about the whole pacing problem. If you show this to a non Star Wars fan, they would probably tell you the same: "Great location, great acting, great special effects, etc.....boring story." Again, we're not criticizing everything. Just the boring speed.

    • @christophercraig2496

And, thats were our opinions are differing. I didnt look at this as a full story, but rather part of a much bigger one-like a 9 min clip from a movie. Fan films dont usually have the money to tell at a more full length, especially at the level of quality we got in just these few scenes.
Thinking about this again, maybe they should have presented this as a "fo-film clip", to convey the feeling of what I was saying?

Its perfect! Its a homage to spies changing out uniforms with their capture in so many films--they never show that, for good reason--its also a homage to when Luke and Han did it in A New Hope. You never saw how they changed the outfit, but you did see who they got it from.

+Christopher Craig while I would agree with you I have a problem with how the uniform changed was portrayed. The rebel walked long enough for a day to pass (we see a night sky behind him in one scene). Then after we sees the imperials he changes uniforms. He would have had to go a long way to get back to the wounded imperial to do that. I would have preferred either a shorter walk or scenes showing him taking the time to go back for the uniform. Other than that a great fan film.

Great work! Nice touch too with the stop motion. In this case, if it didn't look better than a CG model might have, it's got a hell of a lot more charm, you went with the right approach. This was great; a nice simple atmospheric tale that expands the Star Wars universe. This is the kind of material the upcoming Spin-Offs should be centered on. It looks like they're doing that with Rogue One but all the Han Solo stuff sounds like pandering fan-fiction. Stories like this are far more interesting because they add something new and might give added weight to materials elsewhere.

You simply can NOT have a Fan Film without A) The sound of a T.I.E. shrieking by...or B) An AT-AT or the sound of one lumbering around in the background. Cool, this Fan Film is. For the AT-AT, a thumbs up, you earn!

I feel it's safe to assume the imperial trooper won her fight with the scout droid. Seeing as the rebel scum pilot won his without the same training as an imperial trooper.

@@Emily-yf7nh That fight between the imperial trooper and scout droid actually went on for about 36 hours before she finally succumbed to her previous injuries.
