Love the home made tools from files that you made . I bet you must have allot of old medal files on hand liying around Thumbs up for allot of sanding and a job well done ;-)
Thank you very much. Actually they came from my grandfather, he used to collect those files with every chance he got, so now I keep finding files everywhere and I have good reasons to collect them as well! Lol

Way good job,,, I saw you putting something on the leather? If you were to go to a truck stop, you may find ( green ) polishing compound. Green is for hard stainless and crome. A 10 usd stick would last a life time for knife sharpening. It is about 3 lbs in weight. Keep up the good work. ...
Nice now I've got to buy a tourch. I've got a few old files I'll ahve to look real close at how well they cut, I;m thinking they are worn out and dull, this would be a good use for them. I;m sure the older person that sold them to me won't mind they have found a new use doing woodworking. I think he'd like it.
I saw this tool used by a Greek luthier. He was actually shaping a bouzouki neck. It's been years since then and I never got the chance to buy such a tool. Never imagined I would make one. I actually want it to clean the bark from logs or shape large cylindrical things
Nice to see a different kind of knife build. How do you like the angle of the handles? Seems like most draw knives I've seen have much steeper angle to the handles than you've done here. You can probably get more force in your pull with what you've got, though.
I did not have enough steel to make that 90 degree angles on the handles. But it seems pretty comfortable and I believe that you can use more force indeed!
Files are heat treated to be extremely hard, he is heat treating it to be softer. If he didn't do that it would be near impossible to sharpen and maintain in addition to being overly brittle.

You do know that it being a file...you don't have to reharden it? Also, if you leave the edge at file hardness, you can use it to curl steel the same way you used it to curl out that wood. The Japanese had a similar tool called 'Sen' that did exactly that.
Nice job quickest and simplest I’ve seen.right to the point
Thank you
Very Nice Job! I like how the handles actually fit a hand. It looks comfortable to use too!
Thank you. Yrs it is comfortable
Man you have a lot of old files. Awesome job

Really nice work ! What is the leather for exactly ?
Thank you, the leather is for stropping, it gives the metal a polish and it makes it razor sharp!

Hi, can you explain why you didn't anneal before grinding it into shape? Wouldnt it be much harder?
Very nice work Dimitris. I like how well did you explain all the process. By the way which oil are you using to quench the metal? Thanks for share.
thanks my friend. I used a cheap oil I found in the kitchen (not olive oil ofcourse), just to avoid ugly smells!
Scrap wood City Ok, thanks for the info! I need to try this one day. Regards!
Just realised, this is for making guitar necks, right? Looking forward to that vid!

Great video, question:Do you have a video for the wooden jig that you used to get the bevel? Will be subscribing to your channel.
No I don't have a video about the base
@@ScrapwoodCity Ok, Thank...Going to try my hand on making one.
Πολυ καλο!! Ερωτηση... Που μπορω να βρω το λεπτο μαρκαδορακι που χρησιμοποιης ?
Ευχαριστώ, τα παίρνω από μαγαζιά με εργαλεία!
thanks
why are you heat treating it? Is the file not already heat treated?

very functionaly

Τη λίμα τη ξεβαψες πριν την κόψεις και τη τροχισεις;
Όχι
is it wrong that i like to re-watch your old videos just for the music?
lol, not at all, thanks

Yes gardening wasn't necessary. But at the time I nade the video I didn't know that. After making a few tools I have a better idea now.
cool!!
nice...
thanks
Very nice video!

Could you make a carpenters chisel out of a file next
I have that in mind. A chisel is much easier. I also want to make a wood carving gouge, We'll see!
