  • Fionn interviews José Maria San Segundo, founder and bass player for the Spanish hard rock band Bella Bestia.
Formed as Piel Metal in 1981, they changed their name in 1983. After releasing three albums the band split in 1988. They reunited in 1996, with a new guitar player, and played several gigs until December, 1997. That month, José Luis Saiz and José María Sansegundo decided to keep on with Bella Bestia recruiting Javier Kierchebén and Antonio Alcoba. Iván Urbistondo joined in early 1998 and a demo was recorded. They stopped using the name Bella Bestia in August, 1998, adopting Beethoven R. as their new moniker. (The R is for José Maria's son Reuben, who has Down syndrome.)
Bella Bestia reunited again for a gig in May of 2004 at Viña Rock Festival, and 2008 for Leyendas del Rock. In 2011 they played what was to be their farewell tour, between May and July. Bella Bestia's albums include Lista para matar, ¡No, cariño, no! and Violando la ley.
Recorded at the Global AIREA event, hosted by Fundación Inclusión y Apoyo Aprocor in Madrid, Spain, April 2024.
