Derrick Rose - Phenomenal Floater

  • Derrick Rose is complicated. People either love him or love to hate on him. This video is just meant to showcase his favorite weapon: the floater that comes out of absolutely nowhere. Since he's come back from his injury, I feel like he falls in love with his jump shot, the 3 ball especially. I'd much rather he drive because he's a freakish finisher, or bust out his high arcing teardrop.
    The point of this video is to show how quickly he gets it off, no matter the angle, and how high up he pushes it. Love him or hate him, you've got to respect his mastery of the floater.
    The first clip belongs to USA Basketball (I haven't ever used a clip USA Basketball so better safe than sorry in citing them).

    Still think he has the best floater in the game. The range and angles he can finish it from are just ridiculous.

      Tony Parker has the best

      I Only Speak Fax Tony Parker doesn’t play anymore. Rose has the best in the game right now. Even still Rose floater is deadly from anywhere, and he has more variety of angles and use of the glass then Parker ever had.

    That is a hard shot to master. When you are running real hard it's difficult to release a soft touch like that. It's a deadly weapon to have especially against bigs. D has it down 100. When he gets it off its seems to be automatic.

      i use it often when I ball. I'm 5'7 so it is really a necessary shot to have in my arsenal. But it really is difficult to master tho. I still haven't learned to do it with my left hand like Rose tho.

      I'm 5'9 I've used it all my life also, this vid got me amped though. I rarely use it now because my touch hasnt been consitent with it lately but I'm gonna go get my touch back. I remember in highschool basketball practice running the exact same set play 3 times in a row and each time I tear dropped it over our starting big man (he was 6'6). Shit was hilarious by the 3rd time I did it, we were dying laughing. We had to pause practice for a min, good times lol

    As someone who's suffered multiple knee injuries and literally had my doctor tell me to not attack the rim in basketball I'm glad that Rose has developed a game not reliant on his athletic ability and put a floater in his game, I did the same thing and it's helped me stay effective without putting myself at risk of injury

    the only floater highlight missing here is the one he did against the nets on 3.17.11 with a green st patrick’s jersey. it was probably the prettiest one.

    You much rather he drive to the basket and play explosive basketball. Of course you and everyone else would want that because it's fun to watch but it wouldn't be sustainable. The reason why he's so often injured is because his game was too explosive for his body. He has changed his game because he is a smart professional who wants a longer NBA career.

    • @EvinGualberto
      @EvinGualberto  8 лет назад +10

      But it's not just that he was too explosive. It's that he was so explosive and he got away with explosiveness alone. If you watch his forays to the rim, it's a lot of just full speed, hard stop, maybe a reverse pivot, and jumping off the wrong leg. That's a lot of stress to be putting on the body to full-on stop like that after that much speed. His shiftiness and acrobatics are the reason he was a success in this league, and he's still capable of doing that, but it requires more attention to the amount of torque he's putting on his body with any given move.
