100% - this worked for me - I always tried to follow the “get your eyes over the ball” mantra and putts went in that I felt were leaking left and missed right which my eyes were telling me were dead centre. I could even get the ball rolling end over end with the same results. I saw this hack and tried it - massive difference and it has also helped significantly with distance control as a bonus. Top Tip Fitzy.
Thanks for your feedback and I am really happy that it worked for you. It turned around my putting and had helped a lot of my clients as well. Keep up the great work and thanks for watching. Brian
great tip... I also use a line on the ball and just had to stop stop stop doubting my line and read... finally you explained my issues haha... thanks so much ...
Thanks Brian, this is me! I’ve had to teach my brain to learn how my eyes work… one short, one long sighted eye makes it very confusing. I’ll go and have a go at this. Very helpful, thanks 😊
Thanks - i'd tried to use a line on the ball but for the reasons in this video, it didnt work and now i know why. As soon as you find where to put your eyes, the technique works. Most pros seem to use a line on the golf ball, so this is excellent.
I am glad you enjoyed it Alison. The line does make it easier to start the ball on the right line. Once you get your eyes right. I appreciate your comment. Brian
Correction lenses, glasses or contacts, make the error worse. I am so grateful for this. I have to force myself to hit it deliberately (so it seems) left to make a straight in putt. Now I know how to correct that illusion.
Great explanation. I read somewhere that it also helps if you know which of your eyes is dominant when lining up from the side. That way you can adjust the ball position so it's under the dominant eye helping the putt look 'straight' even from the side. We've all second guessed putts exactly as you demonstrated but it's a matter of always trusting the binocular view from behind the ball. (now if only I could take my own advice😄)
Your best lesson so far a gem.. This and last weeks aiming lesson, really made me feel more confident over putt and stopped me fiddling with putting stroke. beauty of this drill is can do this drill in office as well as on course, by putting a small coin down 30 cm in front of ball and getting line.
Lightbulb moment Brian. I gave up lining putts up with the line on the ball from behind as it looked off when I stood over it. Will definitely give this one a try and add it to my putting portfolio. 👏🏻
This used to happens so so much. I had to put lines on my ball and trust my read from behind the ball. Didn't realise changing my head position was an option. Thanks!
As always Brian, great putting advice! I do as you suggest and do not have my head over the ball when I putt. Because of cataract surgery, I do have a lens in my left eye, so I do have something to blame it on when I do miss a putt! :-)
As a right hand player I used to joke that I aimed right and pulled it when I made a putt. Missed alot left. Moved my eyes inside ball and have become a much more consistent putter.
I found this out a couple of months back but you explained it very well!! My question is... What would you suggest if no matter where you place your head you can't get the line straight?? I have something in mind but would like a more expert opinion! Also Bayviews is a decent course and coming along nicely!!
Thank you for watching. Until I worked this out I just learned to trust the fact that I put the lines down straight. I double checked it and then just got on with it and did not change my mind. This worked pretty well for me until I discovered the hack. Bay Birws is one of the best kept secrets on the Mornington Peninsula
@@fitzygolfpro yeah I was doing that too I picked a point a foot or two on my line and just aimed for that but with the same power to get to the hole. My other option, is I'm going to give side-saddle putting a go because when I'm behind the ball or face on to the hole it is definitely a straight line. I 100%agree, the course is in just as good condition as many premium courses on the Peninsula AND most of the time the greens are in better condition, but boy oh boy can they be tough to putt on sometimes.
They are deceptively fast. The first putt I hit in the first video I filmed there last year I putted off the green. It didn't go to air. It's good to try things but at some point you will need to settle on something. Keep up the good work. Brian
I found that adjusting the angle of my head helped with this. If I get my face parallel to the ground I see the line right. I checked it with another ball half way along the putt directly in line with the hole. Then tilt the head up and down until the two balls look in line.
Ok . That makes sense. I have been moving my head over the ball recently and I have noticed the difference. And then trying to work out which is correct. I shall not sticj K my neck out...lol. Playing Tuesday and Thursday comp this week as a push to get my game on track for friday floppers.

Glad to be of service Angie.
Have you ever putted in the dark?
I remember doing it as a kid and holing everything.
@@fitzygolfpro I haven’t but I can understand how it must help your senses. I’ll have a go, thanks

If it’s any consolation I found it hard to listen to my own advice for many years.
As always, great video, Doc!!!
Thank you Joseph.

Thanks very much Brian - another helpful tip!
A pleasure Steve.
One of these days I won't be coaching when I see you at Dorset and we can have a chat.
Brian
Ah that's so cool, gonna go and work on this now - cheers Brian!
Hope you enjoy it!
It has made a big difference to my putting Adi.

Hi Brian,
Brilliant video!! This one really made sense and why I have misses. Your putting videos are top notch.

I'm gald they have made a difference to your putting Geoff.
Putting on the carpet or using a putting mat at home makes a huge difference.
Thank you so much, easiest video on this subject I have seen, and don’t need understanding of quantum physics to find resolution! Cheers
You're very welcome!

It’s even worse with a lazy left eye. As you say , trust your line . Thanks again Brian !🏴🏌🏻
Very welcome
Thats why I do face on, or forward facing putting technique. I never understood a tilted head look at the ball when putting.
If it works for you I would stick with it. No need to change at all.
